- Forever a classic, and on my personal essentials list. Many thanks to Hal Needham, Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reed, Jackie Gleason and all the actors and technicians who assembled the greatest road movie ever.
Featuring 'West/East Bound and Down' by the late great Jerry Reed.

I really, really miss these times. So carefree as a child and so many good memories. I have watched a lot of family pass away young and old but when I heard this music it takes me back to the good ole days here in South Carolina. I really miss it all. I actually feel sorry for the young ppl of today with all of the crooked politics and news hating America programs.
I was just a kid when this came out......Im 52 now and this video just brought tears to my eyes..... Spectacular....!!!
Me too, i was 7 yrs old when this came out....I LOVED IT and still do to this very day!
I was going on 3 when this came out. lol I'm 45 now and I still love this movie! And it is one of the reasons besides "The Rockford Files" That I own a '75 Firebird/Tran Am clone!

Check it out...
It's July 2020, I'm 55 years old and I remember watching this movie on the big screen for the first time like it was yesterday. This is my favorite movie of all time.
Honey hush lol.
Summer of 1977. 11 years old. My late sister and my brother in law took me to a drive-in to see Smokey and The Bandit. I fell in love three times that night. First with Sally Field, then that black Trans Am,then with Burt Reynolds ( take it easy,it was just a bromance) LOL!!! Thank you Burt for giving me a memory that has lasted me a lifetime. R.I.P. Bandit.
This movie is pure Americana cultural documentary... this was my bible of coolness !
Love this movie, and East bound and down is still my favorite song
The Bandit is also an incredible song or is it called The Legend?. Jerry Reed was extremely talented.
It's so hard to believe that Snowman and Bandit are BOTH gone! They are my childhood heroes. SATB is my all time favorite movie. I learned to drive like the Bandit from I and II. Now I'm in my 50's and he's gone. The cycle of life shows mercy for no man.
:'(
We live we learn and die and forget it all it sucks were the next on the list
42lookc not gone they live on
I was 9 years old when this movie came out! I have seen this movie so many times I could go through the whole dialog word for word, best movie EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rest In Peace...Burt Reynolds Your Movies Will Live On!
One of the best movies ever released ever
Rest In Peace Burt 😢😢
Bandit has gone R.I.P. :'(
Sony... thank you.
It’s one of the all time greatest movie ever ... I can’t think of anything so timeless powerful and classic Americana ... I basically shaped myself from this movie , I drive a 36.5 Metres Road Train in Australia because Snowman and The Bandit and I’ve been collecting all they similar clothing and jewellery for the past 30 years , this movie they characters became real on they own ... amazingly awesomely the 3 best movie ever with Forrest Gump and the blues brothers
I was 15 when I saw it the first time and I decided to get a Firebird one day... It took another 15 years to get one, but I have been driving it for 21 years now. RIP Burt, Jerry and Jackie!
A Legend RIP.
This documentary about Hal & Burt, their great friendship & collaborations & the making of Smokey and the Bandit is excellent!
@John Smith Hal's book is a real good read too!
rip Burt reylonds bandit
OK. I was very young in 77. Smokey and Bandit and Star Wars were the best movies that year........
Me too…they still are!

It. Is. The. Greatest. Movie. Ever. Put. Together. RIP. TO. THE. GEEATEST. ACTORS. EVER. ON. THIS. EARTH
As a young person during the 80's there were two things that you did. First you learned to dance and second was you NEVER missed a Burt Reynolds movie. ☺
He was the essence of cool.
You couldn't help but like him, the Charisma and charm just drew you in. You left the movie theater repeating the lines in the movie. I tried to imitate his laugh. He was just to cool.
For a man with so much fame and fortune he should have always been happy but that wasn't the case.
More than anything he wanted to settle down and find a wife and have kids. He met the perfect woman for that but at an imperfect time in his life.
Later admitting it was his fault and his biggest regret he never fully got over the loss.
He would eventually marry and adopt a son whom he loved the rest of his life but he never found the lasting love he hoped for. We all make mistakes Burt and you are indeed truly loved by many and will be missed.
Touche
It didn't help that he was womanizing. I love his movies but he didn't treat women with respect, he treated them as objects. If he had actually been a little kinder and sweeter to the opposite sex it's possible he may have found a life partner. I mean he found 2 lovely women in his life and managed to mess both of them up. Pathetic. His Hollywood ways and being sexiest man alive went to his head.
RIP Burt and to all you guys who are no longer with us some of the best times watching those movies.
You can really see the glow that Sally gets as the movie goes on, she really was in love with ole Burt. It came across in the movie so well.
Wooley689 byby
That love went both ways. So sad they weren't able to make it a lasting union. Burt desperately needed a solid woman in his life and never found one again after Sally. Real sad for him.
Burt Reynolds was my hero and will be missed by us all .
And what he for his stuntman friend in directing Smokey and the Bandit was in fact a gift is as well.
Rest In Peace Burt my Friend.
6:52....”Does this thing moves ??”....one the best lines ....
Rest in peace bandit you'll be missed
theres something about that southern look ,vibe ,and era when i was very young that just captivates ,and hypnotises me , and it gives me the strongest deep set ,feeling of nostalgia and home ,that i cant go one day without, and im literaly searching for it on a daily basis ,but every day that goes by its seems to get farther away and harder to find ,even here where i live in the deep south in metro/and rural georgia where most of smokey and the bandit and all the dukes of hazards was filmed ,its very sad to me !
Hop in Sally...Let's Roll !! 🤠👍
Damn, that looks like a pretty good movie--- I'm gonna get a 6 pack of Coors and watch it on DVD! YEEHAA, and 10-4 good buddy!!!🇺🇸
Over half the world can connect with this movie they love it in the UK And all over the world because it was real they don't make movie's this good anymore like I said it was about people out hear in the real world which there are more of us good old boys and girls out here then they are the others just good old hard working people trying to make it...We need more movies about people like that and this movie was. The only rich people in this movie was the ones wanting the beer delivered...lol...
Absolutely love this movie. Always have and always will. I have the Trans Am diecast and built a Snowman truck model. I could watch the movie constantly.
Best Movie EVER done...
OMG That is awesome. I have loved this movie forever and didn't realize how it came about. My dad was a trucker, my hubby is a trucker and I am a trucker and they don't get much better than this. We need more movies like this ... it is mostly just crap these days and not much "normal" people can relate to. Everyone in this movie that has passed will be, and are, sorely missed.
Rest in peace Burt Reynolds!
Smokey and the bandit is my favorite movie series
When movies were a great time. Who didn't want to be the Bandit.
There will never be another Bandit. Can't say how much he meant to my youth. Hope that 18 wheelers make it to heaven. Guess Smokey & the Bandit III is being made as we speak. RIP
It doesn’t get any better than that!
Love the old movie good laugh great actors
1:54 we’ve got that same hat in Australia, it’s AKUBRA brand and the model is “Golden Spur” light sand ... I’ve that same hat , man Burt Reynolds is cool man , that Mercedes with red interior is so gorgeous!!
i watched that movie a few days ago and I had a vibe about this....
You'll always Be # 1 in The Stunt Man World. RIP Burt. So far no 1 has top'd You Arty NJ
Truly great movie!
It doesn't get any better than this!
There are so many of the stars that have passed on: Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Hal Needham, Pat McCormack and Burt Reynolds. Now they can all be in Heaven. Big Enos wanting beer, Snowman and the Bandit bringing the beer, Buford T. Justice trying to stop them. 😂💾💾
Well honey hush, this move will never die but live on forever, when I was in my 20's I had a 77 Grand Prix with a 400 under the hood, well at least it was a Pontiac, but all my friend and I had CB's and yea my handle was Bandit. this movie now brings tears to my eyes, wish we could go back in time. The cast was perfect and no one would have made it. Even Fred......
My dream car
One part of that film crew that never got the credit was the stunt team. They were amazing. Sad to see snowman, bandit abd sherrif Buford T Justice and Hal Needham are no longer with us. May the car chases be going on in heaven.
Awesome movie! 10-4! :-)
One of the greatest movies ever!!!
RIP Burt
RIP Bandit.
Will always love you Burt
This is from a documentary called "The Bandit". If you like this you should watch the whole thing.
Rest in peace burt reynolds aka the bandit
i wonder if they went through so many pontiacs during the production of the movie was because of a few vibrant stunt drivers dui of nose candy. (this WAS 1977). i really can't think of another car more fitting for the role. corvette woulda been over the top not allowing for a fair fight for the movie. that era mustang was in a coma waiting for a rebirth. chrysler at the time wasn't known for muscle. and using any import in a movie like this would have been an insult. i love when burt asks for front money to buy the car..."speedy car...(pauses while money is being counted out)...speedier than that"
Brother the corvette in 77 had 180hp if you had an l48, and 210 if you ordered an l82. One with 255 lb ft of torque and the other with 270. The olds 6.6 also had 180 hp but 300tq and the true Pontiac 6.6 had 220 hp 330tq, although tested the Pontiac engines often were closer to 250hp. Wasnt any corvette from that year touching this car
"No even speedier than that"
Those were the Good Ole Days!
Burt all I can say is king he's the man
What many people don't realize is that back then Coors beer wasn’t pasteurized and contained no preservatives. That meant people would get sick drinking beer that was expired.
I was a kid in the 70s and grew up in a family that didn't consume alcohol but we all loved those movies. I remember asking why they didn't sell Coors all over the US and my dad had no idea. It's amazing how many people to this day still don't know why it was considered bootlegging. They think it's always the law trying to get over on everyone when it was trying to stop people from getting sick.
Still one of my favorite movies of all time, seen it at least 100 times and can quote every line from the movie. To this day, every time Jackie Gleason is on the screen as Sheriff Bufford T. Justice I laugh hysterically.
Only one Burt Reynolds..what a great cast..!!
best movie ever!
mi santa madre, me llevó a ver todo esto,,,,, porque yo quería ir, hoy que tengo 51 años, tengo a mi madre, y esas imágenes de films, son lo mejor... je
R.I.P
Make a non political agenda driven movie that makes America feel good and you have gold !
And for some reason no one will do it....I am waiting for them to try to remake this like they do of many of the movies from my childhood...It will be a mess
People would flip out with the confed flag on the bumper. Snowflakes falling heavy these days
@@Ultrajamz they would be crying ..lol
@Chesapeake Bay I still have my Rebel flag license plate on the front of my '72 Chevy pickup and soon will have one on my '75 Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am clone. They also can't take away my full size rebel flag. Also I was born in Texas, so I can wave that flag all I want.
10 4 bandit,over and out!
Well done
For the money....for the glory.....for the gun......great motto....RIP Beau Darvil
BURT REYNOLDS CLASS OF 1977!
Godspeed Burt !
My cat is Named after the Bandit
Colorado Kool aid, the beer that led men across the mighty Mississippi to West Memphis, Arkansas back in the day. Rolling out of Knoxville on those b-e-e-r-r-u-n days, raising hillbilly hell down 40, Shanghaied in Savannah and jackknifed in Jonesboro, pepper sprayed in Paris, and extradited to Cadiz. Ole Blackjack Harrison, BT, and me Jake D; the Winnebago and Ford Pinto wrecking crew. Our most epic quest, 3 aluminum John boats into Windsor from Detroit to ferry seniors to a bingo game. Rumrunners like Joe Kennedy, son.
As a kid I wiuld scan the TV Guide when it came out, looking for SATB and when I found it I would fake a high temperature to play hookie from school. They always aired it in the daytime. Up-vote if you ever held a thermometer to a light bulb when mom left the room. Amazing how the fever always subsided after around 1 PM or so.
Those were the days! Darn technology and forehead thermometers!
Let's hope heaven has black trans ams rip Burt.
They're all over the place! All of them black and gold!
What A Great Fuckin' Movie, Period !
End of an era without this movie there would be no knightrider no dukes of hazard no fast and furious
GO BANDIT !
Loved Sally Fields nice butt . Sorry Burt Reynolds is gone R I P. Great American movie.
My Dad used to smuggle Coors Beer from Colorado to New York.
Nothin' like a Pete!! Jerry had the ride!!
And Burt had the '78 Trans Am!!
Sexy was a understatement. She was really sexy. R.I.P. Burt
That year of Pontiac was slow car in 78 and 79, they had to modify it to smoke the tires, it was made for highway
😁😘😘😘 love it!
Truth be told,
I knew a girl in 1977 who looked like sally field I always thought she was very pretty
This is how we fought against the system back when i was young. We did not go out and riot and loot and destroy. We paid money to watch someone in a movie bucking the system. The amount of money such a movie made was a message that people were fed up.
4:10 They wouldn’t have much of a problem getting the car in that wrecked state...
The Georgia State Patrol actually used Pontiac’s LeMans back in 1977, besides the '77 Ford LTD...
My dad had a pretty dry sense of humor when this movie came out, but I never will forget seeing this movie with the family and my dad just cracking up. I will own a black transam and I will go to jail screwing with the cops one night with it in my hometown.
According to Google maps it's 668 miles from Atlanta to Texarkana. The movies dialog said " its only 900 miles there and 900 miles back ". 28 hours round trip in the movie. Google said 9 hours 22 minutes. If they did 90 miles an hour like they said it should only take 14 hours LOL. One of the greatest movies ever made !
They were hauling stolen beer in a semi truck and took the back roads and avoided the interstate. Google that 😀
david still its still a top 3 movie of all time of mine. I was lucky to see it in the movie theater a week or so when it came out.
*_"Nice Vid - R.I.P."_*
Are you still running this channel? Can I have it? I’ll make it active again.
Daddy, the top came off. No shit!
Nice edit btw 👌🏻
You telling me it ain't no documentary ?
Hello friends! Be sure to check out the Burt Reynolds Fan Club 2017 on Facebook! 👍🏻
2:44 I can't believe that anybody could ever think that Sally Fields wasn't sexy?
Awesome movie, they fucked it up on the HD edition when they edited the sounds & made it sound dumb.
the cable companies always mess things up ! I guess that's what we pay for cable !
Jacki zglesson was the only one who could play the Sherrif
Just when ya want spell check to work
