16yrs ago on this day we lost the Great Jerry Reed. May he Rest In Peace🙏
Thank you for remembering him he was a great man
This computer generated audio is a real pain in the ass.
Almost like an "EEEnama" 26:17
Along with the Google translate used. Don't know which language it was written in but it wasn't English.
Back in the late late 70s there was a very private horse ranch in Tennessee. Gerry Reed had a vehicle break down and he went to the ranch to call somebody to come fetch him. Gerry asked to see the horses. Apparently they didn't recognize him because he was told he couldn't afford to even look at the horses. A couple days later he bought that ranch and fired the uppity staff and hired new.
Nice story, but who is Gerry Reed? I would rather hear a story about Jerry Reed, the singer in the video.
That was Sissy Spacecek when her and Mel Gibson filmed the River I would know they were my grandparents horses
😅😅😅😂😂😂😊@@zedsodead
I also was told by a Georgia kid that he was booed off the bandstand
Jerry
Jerry Reed wasn't just an UNBELIEVABLE Guitarist( he and Eddie Van Halen are THE BEST Country & Rock players respectively EVER, IMO)but he was a a Great Person and Family man, AND a U. S. Veteran. He's the stuff a Hero and Role model is DEFINITELY made of. GOD BLESS him and I'm very Thankful I got to be around to see him. My Sympathies and Condolences go out to his daughter's. Rest In Peace to Mr. Reed and his beloved wife.
Amen, you are so right😊
I would put Roy Clark in that contest.
Roy Clark could play on Jerry's level to.
@bonehead2768 you sure right about that my friend. Definitely something that is way lacking today
Glenn Campbell is in that esteemed group, too. They were all impeccably talented guitar players.
I went to his music show in 1986 or 1987 in Lexington, KY. Great show 👏
I worked at the Wendy's in Florence Al during the early 80's. Jerry would stop by after recording in Muscle Shoals. I cooked several single cheese burgers for him as he came thru the drive through on his way home! 😃
I worked with Jerry several times over the years on a live in theatre radio show in Wheeling WV Called Jamboree USA . Very similar to the Opry. We had local opening acts and then a headliner for an hr. It was a 2 hour show.
I remember the "Jamboree". It was certainly Jerry's style of show !
@@shanew.williams and Hence the “Jamboree in the Hills” was born and Awesome for Sooooo many Years. Until about 2016 and a Commercial outfit took over. Last place I saw and hung out with Neal McCoy who was a Personal Friend that I first met, helped, and hung out with in Texas. Great Artist that Always supported the long weekend of music in Ohio.
Wow. Lucky you. What a great memory to have !
my father's, brother's, wife's, cousin's, uncle's college roommate once met someone who saw jerry reed come out of a rest stop outhouse in kentucky.
what a great guy!
Yes he told me
And my lucky sisters have a brother who not only read your comment about that, but replied to it! Like this!
Got to meet Jerry in the late 60s when he came to WSM in Nashville and performed his hit A Thing Called Love on a show Called Grand Old Gospel.
Jerry Reed, brilliant entertainer.
Jerry Reed was one of the greats. My childhood wouldn’t have been the same without Mr. Reed’s music and acting.
What a hard life to make a great guitar man. East bound and down. I’m sure that’s where he ended up. RIP 🎸🤠
Jerry Reed was a one-of-a-kind musician. He was very entertaining. I didn’t know he had problems with smoking. RIP Mr Reed.
My favorite country song singer actor
He played on an album with Elvis who loved his unique musicianship. When he first sawed Elvis he quipped that he was the most beautiful man he had ever seen.I am sure Elvis thought his comment was funny.
Jerry had a lot of cool songs
Jerry was an american icon.He brought so much to the world'God bless him.

He was funny comedy you could relate to his music style, and you can here something about his life in the tones of his voice, in words and experiences he lived, one hurt or understanding away from something to get a better life,...
I too understand his unique ways to get music as his out in life's trouble, and Country Music icon we all respected and loved,...God rest in peace, Mr. Bandit Jerry Reed,..🇺🇸🎶🎵🎶🎶🤠
Jerry Reed was a stunning real man.
Jerry Reed is a LEGEND! In my book. One of the most entertaining people on earth period! On stage, on film, on tv. A Guitar God! and at the same time an every man. I’m not even in Country music, but Jerry Reed transcends all lines.
Great singer/guitar man.

I Love Jerry Reed. A talented man with a great sense of humor. Jerry, I pray you are heaven bound and got the hammer down! God bless you, and RIP.
Loved Jerry Read ❤. So handsome 😍
My first concert. Jerry Reed at Six flags in Dallas. Summer of 1973. Awesome.
To narrator:
Jerry Reed did not have a 60-year marriage.
He was not 11 years old when he wed.
He married in 1959. It was a 49 year marriage.
And someone gives a gives a shite??
When your hot , your hot.
He sure put on a good show saw him once at tombstone junction close to Cumberland falls
Jerry Reed is the reason why I listen to country music…
I could have sworn he was Bo Hopkins who had a role in the awesome movie Midnight Express. Turns out they played brothers in "What comes around" from 1985.
I used to confuse them too. Bo Hopkins was also the leader of the Pharaohs in American Graffiti
@@lauraerskine6817 yes. He was classic in that.
Bo Hopkins was the best as the leader of "The Pharaohs" in American Graffiti.
Met Jerry Reed after a concert as I manned the souvenir stand selling his items. Was very nice, kinda quiet, and someone who would be a good neighbor...
Love his music, play it all the time when I'm driving. Quitting smoking can be a cast iron biatch. Took me 3 tries, the first failed the night my mom died. The second time? Stress. The third time was 1984. If you smoke, try man, it can be done.
Thanks 🙏
As a kid my dad played a lot of Jerry's music. My father taught me two chords on the guitar and I took off on my own being self taught as well. Along with the influence of artists like Chet Atkins, and Roy Clark I started to fall into a groove with classic rock and a hodge podge of other genres and styles. Jerry's music really helped form me as a guitarist. His song She got the Gold Mine hit home for me after my divorce lol
Reed was his grandmother's favorite grandkid. When she died Reed, sold the family mill.
There was definitely a lot of learning going on as the photos of Reed and legends Chet Atkins, Glenn Campbell and Roy Clark suggest. What an environment for rapid growth and development !
I didn't have the privilege to meet Jerry Reed in person but I did see his Prevost Motorhome at a County Fair in September in the mid 1980s. Those Provost busses are nicer than most peoples homes.
Yes, dear Lord, I claim it!
Jerry was and is still a badass dude!
Rest in peace brother.
One of my heroes with a guitar and such a real caring man. Giving joy to all and the wonderful personality !!!! Even Elvis loved Jerry Reed !!!
A friend of mine had a friend who looked just like Jerry Reed.
Lol.
Interesting to learn about Jerry Reed, but poorly read/spoken... The breaks in sentences are nowhere close to where they should be
What sad life ?
Yours 😂
Loserrrrr
The fact that Jerry and his sister was in and out of foster care and orphanages due to the Great Depression would definitely be a truama. People did not speak of such things back then. But I am over 90% positive that they were s*xually abused during that time. The abuse of foster children was common. Unfortunately, it still is to an extent.
One of the best guitarist in country music if not the best guitarist in country music there was so many it was hard to make up your mind
It's hard to call any one person the best in a genre that includes people like Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Glen Campbell and others but he is definitely in the conversation. Speaking of Chet Atkins, there are some youtube vids of Jerry and Chet playing together that are phenomenal.
Our hearts anf prayers go to the family and friends and Jerry Reed is and always be me and my sons favorite actor muscian we sll will miss and his wife
Jerry could strait up play the guitar
What a great band a choir there is in Heaven. RIP Mr Reed
Merle Travis was my great uncle. Younger brother to my great grandfather. He lived a hard life and died pretty young.
Imagine using a nickel as a pick. Yet Jerry Reed made it work early on.
I hadnt thought of Jerry in years untill.I got GTA SanAndreas....his track was " Amos Moses" i think...still gives me a chuckle....

I teared up at the "I put my job down at Carr, my mommy goodbye not by sundown I left King Gwar." I can't imagine what that must have felt like.
He looked right at home as The Snowman in that Kwhopper too, like any good ol southern boy would. Miss Jerry among many others 🐾✌️🇺🇸
I really doubt whether any young expiring.........country artist has ever even heard..............of Jerry Reed. These bot driven voice overs are.........really remarkably weird and creepy 😮
Well if they are expiring, they have bigger things to worry about. If they are aspiring, they know about Jerry Reed.
I think I watched Waterboy like 10 times before I realized that was the great Jerry Reed
"Hot Stuff." Loved that movie.
Hats off to the "Snowman" and I'm back quite
She got the gold mine.. I got the shaft..🎉
Jerry was the total entertainer.
He done good didn't he Fred.
I was in 8th grade when I watched him in Smokey and the Bandit
Hank sr. was granpappy of them all!
Jump the playback speed to 1.25 and this actually becomes interesting
It's "eagle claw D and Plow handle G!!!"
Sad and tragic? Looks like a pretty good one to me. Keep that pick guitar man !
The Snowman was one cool cat
I was impressed by his finger picking.
I got his CD signed but him
Mr reed could play guitar and act better than singing
Make no mistake about it. Jerry could pick.
Palmetto, Ga.
He mentions the American Army, while showing a clip from the movie Stripes! 😂
All You Got To Do wasn't one of Lee's top selling songs.
I have a musical bone too. It is shaped like a flute.
Snowman.
🙏🙏
Where does the flaming pickup truck fit into this story?
the men ad a great life singer actor ,plz concentrate on good things.have some respect for mr Reed.STOP SAY TRAGIC.MIND YOUR OWN BUIS....IF CAN TELL SOMETING GREAT
Not sure why the creator felt the need to have a computer generated voice read the text. Really horrible and distracting.
The joker what great musician
LJ!!!!!!!!
Cigarettes are drugs. Therefore, drug addict is correct. Not putting down or making fun; it just is what it is.
Americans had more freedoms in the 60s and 70s which lead to better music and actors than we have today.
@@ghosty426 agreed!
Terrible computer audio
Under credited guitar player
I loved the cross over hit when ur hot ur hot great song
Bama McCall ☠️
My godson's name is Amos Moses 🎉
More embellished melodrama from the bots. A "monumental" career, eh. Soap opera rumors are sources. OMG
A PRETTY FACE???? 🤣 No. Distinctive, sure.
Died crying over his 2 million dollars……then he suffocated.
Addiction? 💊💉🍻💀
