@@nimblittleminx Its not (for Julian) Julian knows interviews are for the most part straightforward and questions are already set up so all they have in mind is getting those questions answered. Julian would take a person who is doing their job as well as showing their love and passion for the artist and their project over some guy who does their job but doesn't care to who they're interviewing. Not only that Stryker isn't the type of fan to geek out and dismiss what Julian is saying so he gets attention, Stryker actually would listen and either add on to discuss more about the topic or carefully introduce the next question.

THE MAN LIKES TO EXPLORE HIS ALTERNATIVES, GET USED TO IT he doesn't stick to just one sound, never did and hopefully never will cause everything he does is outstanding. Julian is truly amazing, he's such an intelligent man. I really like that he acts like a normal dude when he's actually been saving music since Is This It. I'd follow him with my eyes closed, those who are Strokes fans have to give Tyranny a chance cause it will blow your brains off. Of course you gotta be a little open minded cause IT IS something you have never heard before.
i wouldnt say everything he does is amazing, but i think hes always worth a listen bc youll likely get something new and thats the art of it. also i think he is just a normal dude, just happens to make really good music

Julian can never catch a break. I got the chance to meet him and actually chill with him... Like he literally invited me into his hotel room to chill with him and his friend. It all started over me saying I was a fan and talking about his music. No bull shit. I just talked about how I really like the feeling/vibe of the early stuff. As a musician I think I was able to say it in a way that made him feel wanting to engage in a conversation. The rest is history

It's ironic how Julian plays along with the interviewer's remark with sarcasm because he has come to that realization long ago and that's just scratching the surface of his own deeper realizations. It's ok Julian, you're not alone.

However I think this is going to be one of the greatest albums of our time. I have been waiting for an interview with the band since I heard the first tracks off the album Tyranny. I am geeking out so hard on the how innovative and the layers that the Voidz created when they recorded this record . I only hope that they come to Honolulu to play¡!!!!!!!!!

+Carlos ETC96 I agree he might look like that, and yes no one knows his real character , but in every interview he's always been/look like that. So I am starting to accept that is his personality. Everyone has a different way of showing their comfortability in different ways. In this case the way he looks and the way he talks makes him Julian. All I know is that he is an artist that creates his own persona and talented music . He doesn't want to be known as a popular musician but instead a genuine and positively bizarre music. That to me is a true artist.

Wonderful interview in celebration, so to speak, of a fantastic album! Tyranny is unique and thought-provoking while remaining catchy. Jake made some great points, and I agree completely with Julian's statement about there being a very clear distinction between "entertainment" and "art". Tyranny is art. Stryker definitely realized that while listening to the album. It's refreshing to see creative minds discussing art with the artists. There doesn't seem to be very much of that happening anymore.

I've heard instant crush in daft punk album a while back, and recently saw the music video with J.c. I'm in awe with him at the moment. I'm not into bands, but I don't get why there isn't more guys that look like him. His personality is everything; it manifests in that video.

The fact that they recorded the album to sound the way it will live is such an example of being an artist that cares for their supporters. They want the music to be heard the way they made it and to have the emotion that comes along with it live. When recording instruments and voices separately, it is hard to find the same vibe and to grow together. When I put my voice on a song for my dad, I have to rerecord over and over until we match and it can be overwhelming. If I sang live with him instead and recorded like that, I think it'd be much more powerful and meaningful in the end. So cudos (can't spell) to these guys for thinking about the overall picture of their artwork

It's very important to note that a lot of people are jealous of Julian and the talent he has -- Julian is the Bob Dylan of our time; fact. Many are jealous, and Julian, you just keep being best version of you, man. We learn from the past, live in the moment, learn, grow, share, and care. You inspire; i.e. in life there are leaders and there are followers, and although you have capacity for both, you are a leader. And there are creators, and there are peeps that quote creators. And you are a creator that people quote. Fact. True artist. Thanks man!~

It's so interesting to me that people had the urge to close their eyes while listening to this album. That's the first thing I did because it was just so immersive it was impossible not to want to drown in it and soak it all up.
