Just got my 14 max pro. Love it. I do notice the recording camera on the back is a bit off and jittery. The front doesn’t do it. Hopefully it gets fixed via software update.
Came from the iPhone 12 Pro which was my favorite phone of all time. Really enjoyed it. Can’t wait for the USB C joint that hopefully is already in the works. But until then I don’t plan on upgrading.
Finally someone gave justice to the silver color! I pre-ordered the silver iPhone 14 pro max and everybody was asking me why you did not get the new black or purple? Personally I find the white/silver combination a timeless sleek option that reflects the authentic identity of Apple products.

Silver is definitely clean, I prefer the stealthy/executive look of Space Black though.
I also don’t care for Silver’s propensity to micro-scratch since it lacks the PVD coating of the other colors, or at least used to.
I love red…so I am disappointed red isn’t an option. 😭

Phone tech is fairly mature other than for folding phones. Improvements can pretty much only be iterative.

@@klungnesberg yea I just have 15k photos and 5k videos 💀 and even though I use Apple Music I have it set that when I add a song to my library it physically downloads on the device that way if I have bad cell service/no service music still works
Great video. Apple’s said many times their internal numbers show users update iPhones mainly every 3 years. Nice to not need to sit through an entire review comparing it to last year’s phone, which probably relates to 5% of users. I find the Dynamic Island is as easy to ignore in it’s “pill” form as the Notch or newly christened “Static Peninsula”. Years of ignoring the unchanging area is so strongly ingrained, I only see it when it starts moving. So, it works as intended with me.

I'm still rocking an iPhone 7, I decided its finally time for an upgrade so just ordered an iPhone 14 Pro Max Purple 1TB. Cant wait for it to arrive. Will be a massive upgrade.

I have a 7+…painfully waited for the 14 releases. I have dropped my phone at LEAST 500 times and am,pretty sure it has done a little damage to the soldering on the board.
The 14 Pro Max reminds me of the 8+…not dramatically different/worth upgrading to. Obviously I keep my phones a very long time, so now I must decide and the usb c power hinted about in the 15 is causing me an entire different round of doubts!
@@seattle1898 I love my iPhone 14PM and I don't regret getting the 1TB option as I've already used 230~GB.
But I agree with your concerns about USB-C I have the same doubts but at the same time I didn't want to be stuck on iOS 15 so I feel like my hand was forced.
At the same time I've already got so many lightning accessories it really doesn't matter. Only that initial backup to the PC was super fun...
I agree with most of what you say, with one exception. The battery life in my opinion has been drastically diminished. I had the 13 pro max which easily lasted me 2 days. The 14 pro max I’m noticing a full day with between 10-15% battery life left over. I’ve checked battery health and all looks normal. I really hope Apple fixes this with a software update.
Good Luck on that! It's already fixed, just waint until they release the 15 pro max.
It's the always on display that is hurting the battery life.

Just moved from an LG G8, but my iPhone 14 Pro Max, lasts me 7+ hrs of screen-on time daily, and I only use it from 80% to 25%, then recharge back to 80%. I'm always playing Ad-free RUclips through the Brave browser, or playing older 2D ios games with the youtube in picture-in-picture, or Face Timing.
I also turned off the always-on screen, as it gave me anxiety thinking I was wasting my battery, which used 2-3% per hour when on over a 5 hr nap. When the always-on setting was turned off, I only lost 1% in the same 5 hr nap
Edit: I will add that I removed all widgets from the additional homepage on the left (besides the AppleNews) and only have a calendar widget and weather widget. Beyond that, I have the iPhone automatically adjusting the screen brightness

I feel that apple (and other phone companies) need to stop coming out with a new model every year. Innovation has slowed in recent years and "new" features are being added just because. I have a 13 pro max, and while I love the phone and don't plan on upgrading, I have a harder time enjoying it knowing there's something better with more features out there. And even as the 14 models just came out there are already iPhone 15 rumours coming out, it just doesn't stop. We spend so much time getting excited about what's next that it doesn't give us time to enjoy what's already here.

I was gonna upgrade from my 11 to the 13 pro max this year but seeing the "dynamic island" makes me want to get the 14 pro max. although ive seen a fair bit of critical reviews about the night mode shutter speeds. since the 14 pros now require less "hold still" time, the photos are often way way sharper than required or way too over saturated. this is the only thing im a bit unsure about.
The 14 pro max looks better on night mode. It might not make it as obnoxiously bright, but that’s a good thing. I hated how fake the night mode looked on the previous iPhones.

Get the 13 pro max. Bigger battery and I’m sure it’ll last longer or be the same as the 14 pro max. If you can get the latest go for it but there’s not much of a difference besides the dynamic island.
It’s ridiculous phone I had it since day one it’s too heavy too bulky dynamic island annoying i preferred the notch the island is just gimmick doesn’t do much I miss my xs I sold it and regret it soo much phones are getting ridiculous camera bump Jesus Christ I want comfort able one handed phone

Please don’t recommend or say 128gb is enough. It is not. And Apple even limited the video quality you can shoot with 128gb model. It needs to start at 256gb minimum....and should be at lower price.
if ppl wants to upgrade their phone just because of 48 megapixels. then they are stupid really. because 1st , they will pay more to get the phone, 2nd, they will have the same feeling of someone who is using 12 pro or 13 pro . I recorded my brother's wedding with iPhone X, and the quality was perfect. so its worthless to upgrade if you are already using 12 or 13 .
Silver is by far the most beutifull color and im Happy with my choice
6:19 this is so insightful and true - with my old iphone xr i never even realise the notch after a week. with the new iphone 14 pro, i keep getting REMINDED there's a notch. the actual "dynamic island" is in the worst possible physical location (TOP of the phone), on a super heavy phone, such that reach UP to it is just a horrible user experience. remember when Apple made the safari address bar from the TOP to the BOTTOM for better "user experience" for easier reachability? Well, they undone all that. That's the problem with apple now, the inconsistency, the contradictions. I am not a fan of the "dynamic island" and overall speaking the iphone 14 pro has been a disappointment (with the many failed ios16 bugs, as well as the well documented camera flicker issue both noise wise and mechanically). Not what I would expect from a $1100 base price phone, end of story.

I have trouble swiping above the Dynamic Island. A majority of the time when trying to bring the Notification Center down, it activates the island instead. It’s rather annoying when trying to see notifications.

I'm going to keep my 13 Pro Max and wait for the 15 Pro Max. I REALLY hope it comes with a USB C charging port. Quite frankly I think it's absurd the 14 series didn't.

For iPhone I would go Pro, or Pro MAX for the OLED display which is why I moved to the iPhone 11 Pro. Nice to be able to see the screen when I am out walking around, and in sunlight.
When it comes to eSIM I am going to have to check with my carrier to see how this would work for me if I need to move to a backup iPhone. A few years back I dropped, and killed my iPhone to a point it would not power up. I was lucky in that I still had my previous iPhone so all I did was pop out the SIM, and move it to my old iPhone. I was back up and running until I could get my newer iPhone repaired. Need to see how hard this is going to be if I have a new iPhone that only supports eSIM. Is there a KISS way to move my phone number/eSIM to a backup iPhone?
After some review it is looking like I may be moving away from the iPhone product line if I can not purchase one with a SIM card tray. Looking like no easy way to move from device to another device should it die. This is a deal breaker. At least I am going to get a USB type C port.
For now sticking with my iPhone 11 Pro with A13 154.9 GFLOPS supercomputer in my pocket until Apple comes out with an iPhone that has SIM tray, and a USB Type C connector that I hope is either USB4 40, or USB4 80.

The AOD should have a simple option to just black-out everything and show just the clock/date/apps with notification, not everything. This way almost all the screen will be off - and that could help since I saw in a video here that the AOD uses ~1% per hour, which is visible if you don't use your phone actively so much and stays more in standby where the AOD will be the difference.
the majority of the time when it is in standby where the screen is out it will be on my magsafe charger stand at my desk at home and my office at work. all the other times its in my pocket where the aod is off

I think … you are right about the Island . It doesn’t really mininize the perceived distraction of the physical notch from previous models but actually introduces a new distraction that our brains need adjusting to …

Na. Provides more usage for the camera and Face ID instead of just a notch, which actually is able to be further useful by software updates in the future too

what a brick...just good to through at referees in matches...they should have just a pro line with 3 phone sizes: mini, regular and max.
The brightness slider goes manually only to 850 Nits not more. Only if you are using the auto brightness and the sun shines directly onto the screen, then the screen will go up to 2000 Nits. So that "flashbang" that you got in the night time, do you also get on the 13 Pro and 12 Pro.

I got a Pro max 13 blue sierra (imo the most beautiful phone ever made!).
And apple really had to come with some revolutionary phone, for me to switch after 1 year.

I have a Mate 20 that I bought new 3 years ago and it's been years since I owned an iPhone (I used to have iPhone 6 plus). I'm going back and forth between the 14 Pro Max and the regular Plus model. While the difference is $200 in price, you actually get more with the Pro Max variant this year. A16, better camera, better refresh rate, better etc... At one side I feel I should get the plus model since it's going to cover all my needs and other side I want to go all out and get the latest and greatest Pro Max model since I'm not going to upgrade for at least 4 years from now.

I’m on day 5 with my 14 pro (not max; I don’t like massive screens) and the largest area I’ve noticed improvements seems to be more complex camera shot speeds. Taking a shot at night looks less blurry and is quicker on the shutter which I really do appreciate since we have tiny kids that move around constantly. Also the HDR seems improved and I don’t know if that’s due to the improved image signal processor or maybe just software, but colors do look a little more rich without that weird ‘halo effect/FALD bloom’ being AS noticeable. Also you’re right about the 2k nits of peak brightness. That is seriously awesome during the brightest points in the day!

Have you had any issues with the iPhone 14 series having battery issues I’ve been hearing the 14 series has had a lot of issues I lost my bottle and cancelled my order it’s to risky when I have the 13 pro max. Once I buy the new phone I’m stuck with it as the 13 pro max would’ve gone on trade in.

There is a warning on all Samsung and google android phones that say the always on display will burn a bit more battery, comes with the territory of having a an always on display. So you can expect to burn a little more battery but it’s not a deal breaker by no means.

About the brightness: You can’t manually turn 2000 nits by using the slider.
