Im sure you got it by now but i agree....some awesome fucking shit right there. I just focused on accuracy first then sped it up gradually until its second nature...im far from good but I can play that riff. Solos lol not so much.
@@derdampfhammer6652 I can play the solo pretty easily but then I've always focused on solos and not so much on riffs. Still can't play it! Perhaps I'll try again to learn it.

That riff at 2:48 fucks me up every time, it's deceptively tricky.
Its the fucking groove man its not even the riff. Working on it still to perfect it and have been playing for over 15 years.
Man the alternate picking screws me up there
It sounds better playing the open A, feels a bit easier too. I also find it easier to down pick it although it's got more groove alternate picking.
What can I say Darrel was one of the best metal guitarists. It's awesome he managed that riff. I'm still having trouble getting down Master of Puppets.

The more I see by this guy, the happier I get. Other big fans of Dime might bash me for saying this, but he's got Dime's soul of playing in him. He looks like Dimebag, he plays like Dimebag, and most importantly, he didn't sound like Dimebag. Dime invented his OWN tone. If he copied him exactly, he'd not be such a popular cover artist, and not as respected. Because he is his own player in that sense, he is much more like-able as a guitarist.

It's a Washburn Dime 333 from when Dime was using Washburn after Dean went under. They're incredibly rare and expensive now, so you might not find one if you're looking to buy it.

Great cover, but the distortion sounds digital and far too fuzzy. Unless you put a hell of a lot of money into a digital rig, nothing beats a big-ass amp with a sweet distortion tone
Watch his own material, he has a beautiful sounding amp and it drives me mad trying to work out why he doesn't use it for these covers D:
You do know dimes rig was entirely solid state? That's a form of digital, albeit not like bias amp and all that shit we got now but back then it was the digital that they had. And you've kinda gotta fuzz or distort the fuck out of the signal and re EQ the hell out of it to get a tone like this, if he dialed back a bit it'd probably be exactly dimes.

But as the poor sod was cruelly taken away from us...its a pinch harmonic on the G string on the 2nd fret dude.
if you still havent figured it out in 5 years, its on the 3rd fret, G string. Harmonic squeal. Tap over the 3rd fret bar, not in the center of the fret. harmonics are always better over the fret bars instead of in the center of the fret

I have yet to see a more accurate cover.. Of anything on RUclips. That is one of my favorite pantera songs and like usual you killed it. You even hit the pinch harmonic at the end which is super hard to do! Rock on man!

It's 1/4 step down. Calibrate your tuner to 427HZ and the tune to E, or calibrate your tuner to 450HZ and tune to Eb. If you play with a band you don't need to detune at all.
