- Diet is everything! We feed our parrots a balanced diet of fresh food, pellets and then any appropriate seeds or nuts. Caique's bodies are such that they need plenty of good food, so we balance them between these.

Can't wait to get my baby!!
It's so exciting getting a new family member!
Always appreciate your good advice. 😊
Thank you for saying so! And for watching!
Sturdy little birds! They use alot of energy and need to be fed very well.
It's incredible to me just how like large lorikeets caiques look and how similar their confident, energetic personalities seem to be. It's no surprise then that they benefit from some higher energy foods. I've read that wild caiques eat a lot of fruit compared to other parrot species; more akin to the lorikeet diet too. They look like fun birds to have around.
I've started growing a variety of different low-sugar berries for my birds this year, which they're really enjoying. Raspberries, fresh currants, strawberries, boysenberries and blueberries are all favourites of mine and the birds and I'm loving that they can have these foods fresh from the garden. They're so expensive in the shops!
Hopefully, I'll soon have passionfruit too, which all the birds love. Rax sits there with his half passionfruit in his foot like a big cup and nibbles out the seeds and pulp one-by-one. He's right-footed.
That's interesting! Yes, their bodies are similar- and like Loris, Caiques poop plenty.
Are Loris super-social too?
Rax is right-footed, huh? I'm going to have to watch and see what the girls are!
@@ParrotBliss Lorikeets tend to hang out in sizeable flocks, often with other lorikeet species.
It's said most parrots are left-footed.
Did you say sprout dun flower seeds?
Sun flower seeds, yes. But the black, smaller ones. The "normal" ones don't do as well.
All my birds get fresh nuts, none of my birds will open them, they cant/wont/or dont know how, Im perplexed, but I make sure they get nuts.
