I pushed around the city switch until i mastered it. 3 months later i had an epiphany. My mind understood that i just need to do the same movements i do on my goofy (hands head foot position knees) but in a mirror. that day was insane
If you can learn this in one day, I am sure you can do anything in life you want. You worked past a mental roadblock and convinced your body to follow. That is some impressive $#!+.
I skate regular and I'm tryin to learn to comfortably ride goofy aswell and it feels so awkward I can barley just push and ride my board normally it feels like I never stepped on a board in my life
Yep thats switch skating for you. No matter how good you are in your regular skate stance everyone goes through the awkward stage of having to essentially relearn everything you know about skateboarding in a switch stance its awkward and embarassing but those that put the time in to develop there switch skating skills always come out the other side better skaters for it. The beauty of switch skating is once its no longer awkward feeling it opens up a whole new bag of tricks for you and could even help you develop some regular stance tricks that you couldnt quite get locked down beforehand... im still in the beginning stages of learning switch myself, but back when i was first learning tre flips it was easier to learn them rolling fakie with the board momentum flipping and working with me instead of against and once i figured out fakie tres, my regular tre flips became lockdown quickly afterwards... I think the same benefits of learning/mastering certain tricks comes out of switch skating as well, i've heard some skaters say certain tricks feel easier/more natural to do well in a switch stance... just like me and many others over the years have found fakie tres easier to learn then regular tres... unlocking switch skating could vary well help to unlock a range of regular stance tricks for you as well.
pushing switch feels good for me cos I used to skate mongo hahaha, when I forced myself to skate regular it was really uncomfortable at the time but now it's easy to set up for fakie tricks
I'm 31 trying to ride switch. My right foot feels like that Rick and Marty episode where Marty got that one beefy steroid arm. If anyone gets what I mean
Today's my first switch day and I can Ollie but landing is a little 🤪 and shifting my weight on turns is super . I can roll around the park easy enough. I'm gonna try your tips here.
I have a pubalgia. That means a bad inflammation. So I go to the park and push switch. I have no choice. It's either that, or nothing. Regular nose manuals are also on my to do list. Popping switch ollie, no problem for my injury. So I recommend it to injured skaters: go switch if possible.
0:31 how are you still filming this video when the purge is about to start!? Appreciate this video from a 32 year old FINALLY attempting to learn switch! 🤘
@Dick Dastardly Funny you bring this up. After I started skating switch ( I suck at skating switch btw) i started being able to use my left hand more confidently. It's like opening up a different part of your brain.
I'm finally learning switch now after almost 20 years. A friend I play skate with now beats me everytime because of switch tricks so I figured I'd learn.. Whats weird is that I can barely ride switch comfortably but I can switch bs 180 and nollie full cabs. But I can't even Ollie switch lmaoo
@D Ceased idk mayne. I had to look it up. Apparently it's just another controversial subject. there's pros who still say nollie full cab but others also debate it. To me, it's the same thing. I understand why it's debated now. I just think this ones a little silly imo
@D Ceased Oh I know. It's named after Steve Cab for that specific trick.. It's just weird cause most tricks you can do different variations and that's one trick where you can't. But yet a nollie 360 is the same thing just a different variation of the fakie full cab. Like I ain't knocking what you saying cause you technically right. I guess I just don't care enough. I personally don't know anyone that calls it a nollie 360, but I will take what you said. Who knows maybe eventually I'll start calling it what it is haha
I ride regular and tomorrow I´m gonna learn how to skate switch! actually I think it´ll be alot like learning fs kickturns. they were so uncomfortable to me, that I never bothered with them until recently, when the muscles in my stomach on the left got really really sore after all the bs kickturns I did all day long for multiple days in a row. so I started with baby steps on my fs kickturns and I can do them on all the banks in my park already, which is nice. skating switch I suspect to be a similar experience, super awkward at first and unsafe, but getting better quickly when I just commit to it.
I wana learn switch because you must have noticed that when you skate your putting allot of waight on your front leg to balance as you push so your naturally using one leg allot more and I find my front right leg is so tight. So I feel learning to roll switch or skate switch fast just pump around a park switch will help level you legs out and make them more balanced overall in strength
The way I started getting comfortable skating switch was taking a good long skate around town and going back and forth between reg and switch going down small hills and working my way to bigger hills switch. That way I felt better when trying to learn flip tricks grinds ect.. I think strictly skating switch one day would just get extremely frustrating so my advice would be to just ease into it. While you skating just 180 and take a few pushes switch and then go back to reg or something. Just my opinion.
@@vvalentine7848 meanwhile I have learnt switch fakie shuveit on boss ends of the board. Now I am learning switch shove it. I do not pay attention which end of the board faces forward. So yes I guess it can be a nollie shove as well.
The worst switch advice you can possibly give, you have defo skated switch before and saying you learnt switch in 2 hours is just putting off those who actually spend months wanting to learn it..
Hahaha snoozy you don’t know how much I hate skating switch. I may have tried to pop a switch Ollie here and there but actually trying to kickflip switch is ridiculous. Why would I waste my time do that if it wasn’t on video? I literally only skate on video. All the skating I do is recorded on this channel now. So I’m guessing you’re not that naturally athletic snoozy? Some people could absolutely learn all those trick in a day. Some people learn to Kickflip their first day on a board. If you can kickflip you can absolutely learn switch flips in a few minutes. It’s the same thing.
I pushed around the city switch until i mastered it. 3 months later i had an epiphany. My mind understood that i just need to do the same movements i do on my goofy (hands head foot position knees) but in a mirror. that day was insane
Mauricio Ruiz
An insane day ▶️💣💥 switch day amigo
I can see that. If you can’t ride switch it’d be harder to learn tricks switch.
If you can learn this in one day, I am sure you can do anything in life you want. You worked past a mental roadblock and convinced your body to follow. That is some impressive $#!+.
I can skate switch because I love my skateboard and I just play around but I still can’t kickflip yet 😢 I can skate switch perfectly and switch Ollie
I'm guessing you faced a lot of switch tricks in games of skate, because I don't think it's possible to land all these switch tricks day1.
its not.
I skate regular and I'm tryin to learn to comfortably ride goofy aswell and it feels so awkward I can barley just push and ride my board normally it feels like I never stepped on a board in my life

Any updates
Nice video, I think I'm going to start getting better at switch.
the footage from 3:00 to around 4:00 have a cool "stop motion" look. Im taking your advice and try a switch day too
pushing switch feels good for me cos I used to skate mongo hahaha, when I forced myself to skate regular it was really uncomfortable at the time but now it's easy to set up for fakie tricks
Same for the riding and why riding switch was mostly easy.
For now switch pop shovs and ollies are all i can get

He'll yeah man keep it up

Much love and respect to you and your channel. I hope all is well for you and everyone reading this
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
Im most impressed by the fact you took 9 classes in a semester. Learning switch myself rn cause I rolled my ankle. Thanks for the video
3:00 What is the Effect or camera or filter going on ?
absolutely great video man ! keep it going

@MichaelRelevant what is the metal song at the end of this video called?
0:31 how are you still filming this video when the purge is about to start!? Appreciate this video from a 32 year old FINALLY attempting to learn switch! 🤘
if someone came up to him he would swing at them with his board and hit him with the trucks thats a lethal weapon ☠️😂
Great video
What’s the different between switch and regular
It means you switch from riding regular to goofy and other way around
@Dick Dastardly Funny you bring this up. After I started skating switch ( I suck at skating switch btw) i started being able to use my left hand more confidently. It's like opening up a different part of your brain.
Just your other foot forward no hands wtf? Just your other foot forward.
@Guitar lover
It's an analogy...

I just started skating and I feel comfortable goofy but I feel more comfortable regular when trying to learn tricks. Idk which to do now
100 tricks a day in each stance bro
I ride regular and tomorrow I´m gonna learn how to skate switch!
actually I think it´ll be alot like learning fs kickturns.

So when you ride switch do you have the skateboard tail in front or the nose in front?
I put the tail forward

Love the grip dude. I'm on my third deck of DKL and I'm never going back. Hopefully they stay in biz
Very good tutorial! Thanks!
America truly has beautiful nature and land.
Holdupholduphold up.... 9 CLASSES!?
i heard a record scratch after her said that
Also said he was working!
those that griptape ever become slippery for you?
Eventually it does loose grip but I really like the way it skates.

i learned my ollies in switch and it would b so much easier to just relearn to ride
I did the same thing so now I can get into nollie kickflips but barely ride away from an ollie.
Why tf isn't this popular
when you ride goofy but do tricks regular
9 classes???? Bro you tuff
wtfff i can barely fully rotate a sw flip dude wtthh
Ik what imma be doing tomorrow
Fr
Yee boys switch day
Who's here cause u ain't got money for shoes, so now you have no choice but to learn this
I started practicing fakie switch shove it. Is a good feeling that I know I can do this trick in my goofy stance. Yeah I have to struggle with it.
Nollie shov??
@@vvalentine7848 meanwhile I have learnt switch fakie shuveit on boss ends of the board. Now I am learning switch shove it. I do not pay attention which end of the board faces forward. So yes I guess it can be a nollie shove as well.
I push goofy but I do tricks better with reg. I dont know what to do
learn to push regular i have the same problem but i do tricks goofy and ride regular but just push regular like get used to it
Victor yeah I got used to it about a week after I posted this comment lol, still scared to drop in switch
@@urbanumbra6170 im still trying to keep on pushing goofy without stopping
I just gotta say tight pants are soooo wack
Learning switch is the single most important thing at skateboarding. Even more than ollie. For fucks sake, give that leg a rest.
The worst switch advice you can possibly give, you have defo skated switch before and saying you learnt switch in 2 hours is just putting off those who actually spend months wanting to learn it..
