I always (for some reason) watch a lot of beginner older skaters, trying to skate, and I always recommend that they learn to skate transition. I dont think its easier than street, but a a certain skill level I think its easier on the body.

Skated alot of vert in the 80's--competed at armature level all over Calif. I didn't take to street and never learned bowls. When all the vert went away I left the scene--moved to Utah. In the early 2000's in Northern Utah an old friend got me back in to skating because there was a vert ramp in Ogden (Boneless skate pads warehouse). Fast forward, moved to St George Utah over 15 years ago...nothing here so I left again. I'm over 50 now...but the Olympic qualifying skate park was just announced (and ground has been broken) in Washington City, Utah. I have the bug again! The bowl is supposed to be about 12 feet deep--YAY vert! But I need to learn how to skate a bowl! Thanks for your videos.

Thank you, I really appreciate these tips, I definitely made some of those mistakes today and am looking forward to making some adjustments tomorrow. I am 55 and its been 3 years since I have skated on a regular basis, but longer since I have skated bowls. Super stoked to be back in there, but kind of found myself re-learning what was so 2nd nature to me in my earlier years. Anyway, great tutorial, thanks mate!

I found your channel a couple of weeks ago and it's awesome. I love how you split the tricks in small pieces and your tips. When I was a kid there were no bowls around here and I am still struggling with them though.
I re-started skating at age 42 and one year later I am more motivated than ever. Sending best luck from Spain.

Thanks for the tips! Can't wait to try again at my local park--I'm determined to learn these skills at 51 years old, having been skating since around 1976. I did not have access to a park or any vert until mid-80's as a teen, and just wood quarter-pipe back then. Any suggestions for wheel durometer? I'm used to softer wheels.

Good vid. It is not easy to get going in the bowl so tips are needed. I enjoy tight trucks myself really makes me comfy when the speeds get higher. I am a heavy guy so I can turn just fine with indy's and hard bushings but you have to lean a bit more.
