Nice tips man! One thing that helped me gain a bunch of confidence in the bowl when I first started was getting a pair of knee pads and learning how to slide down the side of the bowl on your knees if you need to bail. You can end up doing stuff much further outside of your comfort zone without having to worry about whether or not you'll be able to handle the fall (which means you'll learn quicker 👍) Keep up the good work Chad!
Your videos are so great. So many other people that try to give advice or tutorials for skateboarding have a pretty tenuous grasp of the english language. They can't express themselves clearly at all, they trip over their sentences and generally fluff about which makes the video difficult to watch. Whereas you're more succinct with your explanations. You keep it clear and simple. Hope you keep making more videos like this because you do a great job.
Killing it once again chad, I got front side five-o on the big ramp at my local today for the first time and your videos seriously gave me the confidence to commit to it.
I got a brand new zip zinger yesterday and ripped the pool at the skatepark. I spent like two hours trying to carve with no success and the next day I got it down in 30 minutes and was so so so happy. I’ve never been a ramp skater and now I’m in love w the pool
I’m in Bali right now and it is bowl heaven...not a lot of plaza parks so any of these are appreciated...maybe a more intermediate one next like how to stand up grind around a bowl curve?
Just got a mean 9.33 setup with some rat bones and have been dying to take it into a bowl. This def made me feel a lot more comfortable for when I go again👍
I learned backwards I learn how to carve first which it took me about a year. And it's funny I learn how to carve in a big bowl but now I'm learning how to drop in on smaller stuff and I'm going to work my way up my 180s really suck so I'm working on that and I never thought about the loose trucks I have my trucks semi loose but they're still kind of tight but I'm going to try to loosen them up the next time I skate the bowl. Great Channel.
Thank you dude. Love ur channel. Im 32 years old in Germny and here, when u wanna learn skating at my age, your a outcast. Ur channel helps me a lot, i yust love the surf vibe miniramp nd pool skating has. Keep it up.
Yes man, big up Chad!! Had my trucks too tight for sure, never really been able to nail bowl skating, just mini ramp and street. Very helpful indeed, thanks big styley!! NUFF RESPECK FROM BRIXTON!!
Greeting From San Diego! New to your page , still going through your videos , question do you have a video on how the arms are supposed to moved while skating ?
Thanks for the tips. I always struggle with flow and speed in the bowl and i never knew why. I think it's because im intimidated to learn the flow of the bowl like you said. i jump right in and do one trick and im done. Also, I've had these wheels for a year now and they're like 40mm now. I think that's also the problem.
IMHO there are some things to master before moving on to grinding on vert like frontside and backside kick turns, then kick turn stalls and then maybe even tail taps on the top.
Thanks so much man. I have been after some tips like this coz my local pool is really intimidating and over vert. I've been trying to get comfortable on the miniram first though and am still stuck on rock to fake lol. Long road ahead! How was that coffee btw? ;P
Tip 5 was mad helpful. Dropping in and choosing my lines no problem. Carving, kickturns and pumping, no problem. But I bitch up when I get near the coping arrrrrrgggh!!!
Not necessarily. If you’re going fast enough you can pump the higher parts of a corner. If you’re not going super fast, you won’t be able to carve high _unless_ you use a different technique: I’ve seen people do less of a carve and more of a swing around the high parts of a corner, as if their board was a pendulum and their head was the pivot point. I recommend watching any video of Pedro Barros skating for a master class in pumping corners.
Hi Chad, first of all great channel fully packed of great hints and easy to understand also for beginners like me. Can you advise how big have to be the wheels? Again keep going really great channel

The only thing I disagree with is the 'lean back' part. You never want to lean back. The board will shoot from underneath you. You want to be on top of your board as if you're constantly dropping in. Always on top of it, also always going forward.

I notice you’re pumping the corners low down. Does this help with speed compared to further up?
Start at the bottom but you want to get as high as you can. When you pump back off of the top sides of the pool you will gain a lot more speed.
