Pressed the like as soon as you said bank and the blue line....you really start from scratch and make it a simpler progression.
Glad these videos are helping you! Please help me share them with others. Thanks so much and have a great skate 💙🛹💙
Josh when you thought me about the principles you mentioned here- specifically “throwing yourself instead of stopping yourself with the copping.” That was key and learning this brought me out of my plateau and now for real I get way more fun out of vert now 🤙🏻 best money I ever spent on that lesson
Learning the basics the right was is way harder than just learning the trick but it’s well worth it time wise.

Best skateboard teacher I've ever seen/heard. Only wish you and RUclips were around 25 years ago 😂💕👍

I've been skating off and on for 30+ yrs. I enjoy watching all kinds of skate videos on youtube, but I find the videos on this channel the most entertaining and helpful! And that Manak deck is fire!
That’s a true honor and I really appreciate you saying that! I have so much to teach and share with the world and my dream is to be able to help people understand skateboarding so it can continue to grow, flourish, and inspire others. However I can do that, I’ll try. 💙🛹💙
This is the best 50-50 / axle stall video, with so many different advices and techniques! I watched dozens of videos and this really stands out! I wish I were in Sunnyvale to take some classes with you... Hopefully one day
I appreciate you man 💙🙏🏽💙
Again, Very useful instruction! I now see some things that I can easily work on as a 47 year old OG skater trying to get my first legit 50-50 on my mini-ramp! Thanks JB and crew! Keep them coming!

Your videos are bad ass bro. I hope you’re still doing these. So many kids and adults could learn from you. You were spot on w/ every aspect and you included bails etc. awesome. One thing I notice w/ my own kid is foot placement and keeping bent knees. He wants to go full bananas w/ duck feet and locked straight legs. So I’m trying to get him to just get comfortable riding learning basics like tic tac’ing w/ feet shoulder widt apart in pockets above hardware, w/ bent knees. To stay light footed on board. You got really rad videos of which I’ll share w/ him. Funny kids are so insta-gratification, and I tell him not in this sport my lil dude. You got to progress. Some do it quickly other take time. Just enjoy the freedom of skateboarding snd don’t worry you’ll get good when you get good. For now just ride & be free. Good job on your videos mang.

@@SkateparkLessons just a little note , I have been using 84b wheels on my wooden mini ramp , and been struggling for months , used my sons cruzer today with 84a soft wheels and made such a difference, wasn't having to go as fast as I could to get to the top of the coping, and was able to jump/pump up to axle stall as you said , if newbies are strugling with speeds get softer wheels, rather than waste months strugling like i did

@@SkateparkLessons ur welcome i love ur videos JB so much u rock !!!!
Dang!!! With how much goes into Backside 5050s I have gained a new appreciation for them and the skaters that execute them flawlessly. Novice question coming up. Do certain wheel shapes help or hamper ones ability to lock in on the coping? I've seen Spitfire Formula 4 Lock-ins or OJ Mini Combo wheels and they looked gimmicky.
Thanks Dean! That’s actually a Great question! Wheels shapes don’t matter much, people have preferences but in the big picture it’s just a selling point. Wheel size is what will help you lock in more 54mm and larger for transition, 56mm-58mm especially on pool coping and vert ramps. 💙🛹💙
Another great video with a hands-on explanation. JB: you enrich your technical expertise with the ultimate key of (physical) learning: you explain what one should feel as a drill result. This prevents us from overthinking while applying. I could have needed your approach for Golf back in the days. You'd save me hundreds of hours of lifetime. Great job JB!
Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it and will use it as encouragement to make more videos for you. New video every Tuesday. Thanks again 💙🛹💙
Hey JB,
Love ❤️ all your clips. They are SO helpful. I had the axle stall drop in for months and then I ‘lost’ it 😬. In a crisis of confidence I now bail more than I make as something feels off, like I start to slide.
I think my issue is largely psychological. But do you have any tips? Cues? Where should my weight be?
Often I find the right cue and focus can cut through the fear.
Very common, remember lean in with your head into your pump as you initiate kickturn off the coping. And always make sure the inside of your back heel wheel is tight against the coping so you don’t hang up. 💙🛹💙
Suns out, fun’s out. Time to go practice some 50-50s! 🛹🤘
💙🌞💙
Great tips and at my old home town too!! I’ll have to check out that park as it looks killer. Question- I notice you teach to lock with both heel wheels but most skaters use toe front and heel back. Is the double heel approach faster in and out? It seems harder but I’ll have to try. Maybe better around curves and corners?
Thanks for your support! Yes it works better for me around corners and allows me to lean into the transitions more, especially on vert and tight corners. 💙🙏🏽💙
Inverts or hand plants??? Love your content man keep it up!!!!!

Man, this is the best explanation so far :D
Did it always wrong, i was standing always upside the rampt, then crosslocking and then droping in.
Is it wrong if i just crosslock?
Cross locking is fine, it’s a personal preference. Whatever works best 💙🛹💙
❤
💙🛹💙
I'm having way too much trouble getting my grind on coping. No problem with the ramps with flat tops. It's driving me crazy.
Make sure you’re throwing your head and shoulders back as you kickturn on the coping to ensure your body and weight get ON Top of the coping. This is a main issue for most people learning. You will need to pump up hard and at the right time to get this consistent. 💙🛹💙
@SkateParkLessons thanks. I'll keep practicing. Full speed 50/50s look cool.
I've been trying to learn fifty fifty stalls fit a while now. One thing I noticed I was doing that stopped me getting into the stall was I wasn't keeping my front wheels up after going over the coping. I wad trying to get into the stall with my board closer to horizontal.
Since I've been trying to keep my wheels higher I've been having more success.
I've never seen anyone mention this. Maybe because it's so obvious😁 but maybe it'll help someone
Thanks for your feedback and support! I agree, This is why I say kickturn onto the coping, implying back truck then front truck down onto coping, same as a basic kickturn. Let’s work together to help everyone understand skateboarding 💙🛹💙
JB!
I want to ask your your advice, I hope you find the time.
I'm struggling a bit with my bs 50-50s due to my very loose trucks. My heel wheel are locked in a wheel bite while I grind. I think it might be easier and longer grinds if I had tighter trucks so that my wheels could roll along? But I don't want tight trucks.
What's the secret? Do people just push through and grind on their trucks only? I always thought its smoother with kind of balancing half grind/half roll when 50-50.
Thank you for great teaching!
Thanks for your question, you’ll need to practice pumping up and carving harder into your grinds and keep your head more over your back foot so your body weight pushes your grind. If you still have a problem, use that additional speed to let your head and body stay more leaned into the ramp so you’re more in a grind only and youre pinching on the heel wheels but they aren’t on the deck of the ramp to get wheel bite. 💙🛹💙
I like how only the thumbnail says "grinds" lol
🛹🙌🏽😎🙌🏽🛹

It’s coming! Thanks for your feedback 💙🛹💙
hey bro nice lesson can you do want on on frontside on a ledge pretty please !!!!!!?????????
Thank you 🙏🏽, Yes! More videos to come 💙🛹💙
still trying to break my years of going toeside on front foot. just now seeing the importance of heelside of front foot for skating poolblock and curved coping
You can totally cross lock your front truck, it’s your back truck that matters the most. Personally I lock both trucks to heel side but you can do front truck cross lock. 💙🛹💙
The "slow drop in" you're mentioning several times and doing at 5:00 looks quite different from a "normal" drop in. It almost looks like you're leaning backwards rather than forwards. Any tips on how to perform this without getting into a manual or slipping out?
Great question Henrik! You always commit to leaning forward, just don’t pump as hard when you drop in. Experiment with your pump power and notice the difference in drop in speed. Thanks for asking and have an awesome day 💙🛹💙
Watch how Tony Hawk drops in...he makes a little hop that puts his body in the and basically falls in and the board follows it is easier to see with him because of how tall he is
This is one I'm still working on! I can do 10/10 times on a 2' quarter pipe but on anything higher the fear gets me! Any tips for taking it higher? Thanks 🤙🏼
Use your knee pads as a safety and start with dropping in from your 5050 on a larger ramp. 3 ft should be fine for you. Pay attention to sliding your back foot heel wheel against the coping before you kickturn and lean your head into your pump down the ramp. You can do it 💙🛹💙
@@SkateparkLessons thanks JB. That tip on the backside 180s help me get them more consistent. Can't wait to tackle this one. Appreciate you man. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Idk why u don’t have 100 mill subs fam lmao

Keeping an eye on the coping until I lock in really helped to land this even though I’d been told before not to look down at the board when grinding. What’s your method?
This video is my method! I always lock in with my heel wheel against the coping so I don’t have to worry about it 💙🛹💙
@@SkateparkLessons This video is crazy good

@@SkateparkLessons I’ve had some screenings on the projector. Spreading the word
Does truck size make a difference? I have Indy 169 and sometimes find it hard to balance if I have both trucks heelside, instead of cross locked. Would shorter trucks help or hurt? Indy 149s for instance?
Truck size does matter when the trucks get really wide as that equals more leverage and I wouldn’t pass 159 personally but whatever feels best. You can cross lock if you like. Just focus on locking your back truck to heel side wheel. That’s what really matters. 💙🛹💙
didn't push my back foot before dropping in on a bold coping and almost vert mini transition. back truck hung up and went straaaaight to flat. don't skip that step boys and girls.
Yes sir, good advice, also, the steeper the transition, the easier it is to hang up.
