    I actually favored the bike you sold. Very nice build. Took mine on the shoulder of the highway. A truck came from behind and the draft tried to suck me under semi tires. Scary shit. Don't ever try it. Warn others. Happy trails.

    Bah! Trying to sell one of these is way too much of a hassle. You won't be able to get enough money, and first timers have unreasonable expections. These things are labors of love.

      john your right about that . I always offer 10 days free service plus hands on support with every bike sold . This gets you to form a great relationship with your customers plus an up sale on other relative products or services that you may offer .I find a good percentage of my business is repairing bikes that were bought from careless builders . The key to this biz is promotion & to know what your doing and always take care of your customers ....believe it or not i sold 22 bikes last year it can be done...Bro i did it.

      I just transitioned to only selling e-bikes I sold 15 gas bikes and 4 e-bikes….I never had a problem with the E-bikes and made a good profit on them…the gas bikes is another story’ out of 15 I had 3 dumb asses’ if your selling gas bikes plan on working on broken ones’ due to neglect and stupidity’
      No matter how well you build them ppl manage to tear them up…all mine had jack shaft kits and dual lever brakes…red lock tight is used on all hard parts. Some bikes I lost money on…due to my time being used for repairs…I got so tired of it, I started only selling the broken parts only to them’ I had spare carbs,engines, stators, Ignition modules, chains, throttle cables, clutch cables, spare gaskets, and clutch packs.

    • @ebperformance8436
      @ebperformance8436 2 года назад

      Yeah…first timers think they can just hop on one and do 50mile round trips….and they seemed confused on gas mixers so I gave a chart on it from break in 50:1 ratio down to break in ratio….and they just don’t get it….then instead of pedal assist them they clutch the hell out of them, and we all know what happens when that’s done.
      I have over 100 spare clutch packs.

    So you built all of those bikes??? Man they are beautiful... One question be for you..you said you have to pedal up hill more because of the wheel size? I'm having the same problem with my 29 inch Moto bicycle.what are some things I can do to improve the up hill climbing on mine?I had one a while ago with 29,s and the uphill capabilities were much better with the same set up (no after market parts or upgrades on either) I recently moved to the foothills in utide of Denver CO and hills with any gain are impossible to traverse with my bike... Thank you

    Okay so I just bought one of these (first time motor bike rider or anything really only ever drove a car lol) idrk how to brake or even start it I was so awkward in front of the guy buying it. He kept walking me thru what to do and I just couldn’t understand it I couldn’t ever understand the clutch in & brake thing. I would just do burnouts trying to stop. I almost crashed into the damn storage facility he was teaching me outside of. Anyway he didn’t really have time to teach me much & I didn’t really get it by the time we parted ways so I just walked the bike home and am still trying to learn how to use this thing lol. He was selling it for 300$ but he took 90$ because he knew I needed it to get around.

    Great video and cool bikes my friend. That 289 c.i.d. was sounding pretty mean. I had a 62 Falcon with a 289 with a 3-speed on the floor and that was one mean little Ford to say the least, lol. By the time I sold that Falcon I had turned the odometer over twice and I believe it already had something like 78K on the motor when I pulled it out of the 65' Mustang it was in that had been rolled & damn near crushed to death. Thread lock and a proper carb tuning. doesn't sound like it's all the buyers fault.. if it's bogging under a load it's running too rich.. if any bolts or nuts come loose you didn't use thread lock where you should have being a 2 stroke it's going to be shaky no matter what..

    Build next one with Loctite on the bolts so they don't loosen out. I needed to use it on the bolts on my Harley Davidson tank on my Honda Rebel 250. One of the bolts vibrated out and then snapped.

      +William Randles Willy >at Harley Bee brand bikes we use Nylock NUTS where applicable and we use STEEL head lock nuts where it gets hot.... It costs us dearly in cash but Look for the Harley Bee videos it explains it ain't just locktite like back in your days okay..... Modern teenagers don't just take a condom on dates in these days they take antibiotics and a hand gun... Times have changed sorry for my pun okay it seems foul to me but these bikes with the torque bikes like mine put out Locktite is antiquated okay.... It's obsolete.... THE HARLEY BEE BRAND BIKES BREAK ABOUT 170 FT LBS OF TORQUE... WELL BEYOND CONVENTIONAL SOLUTIONS... Willy you're an old timer... Locktite won't save with one of my bikes... only good construction will save ya..

Figure, buy the beach crusers at Walmart, then the motor kits. $200 total Then I install the kits, get it going. Then sell the bike for $250. Make $50 for each bike! Basically they pay me to install the kit!

    Salute Thunderhead. I understand your situation. I build and sell these also. Explaining the gas oil ratio is so hard for some riders to grasp. 16:1 is what I use for break in / first two gallons of gas. Then I switch to 32:1. 1,572 miles on my personal presently. When the hardware store only sells 50:1 mix, some people just were not good with fractions and burn up their engine. Then they come see me for repairs.
    I liked bike #14 best, because you switched the cylinder wall around. I think #25 looked the best.

    #7 hands down. No offense sir but your incorrect about a few things. 1. You will not burn a clutch by quickly letting it out, in fact slowly riding it is what burns them out. You actually want to drop them somewhat quickly to avoid riding it out. 2. You should be able to open the throttle wide open abruptly, if you have to ease into it that means your engine is poorly tuned. My stock pk80 will allow you to go full wide open throttle instantly without any bog and all I did was a little fine tuning of the carburetor so do yourself a favor and invest in some carburetor jets.

    Yeah…I had recently transitioned to electric bikes…when selling gas bike you have to interview the buyer’ many buyers think you can just hope on one and take 40 mile trips to work’ without doing any maintenance to them’ many Over-rev the engine and clutch it up hills’ because they’re to lazy to pedal assist it uphills’ the clutch isn’t made to do that’ just like a stick shift car..doing that will kill the clutch’ I sold 15 gas bikes, 4 e-bikes and did one conversion…I had issues with 2 of my sells and a issue with a conversion…I include a instruction manual for tear downs’ Incase of flat back tires’ or other issues.
    The first guy I sold a gas powered cruiser to he knew how to ride it…but he made the mistake of letting his girlfriend ride, and she crashed it into a speed stopper and wall’ the front fork, rim, and back rim was toast’ he paid $350 for it I felt bad for the guy so I only gave him back $150’ he basically paid for the bike’ the guy was honest and cool so I made a exception for him.
    We actually became friends…and he now has a 4stroke bike and one of my 2 stroke beach cruisers.
    The 2nd encounter was a conversation I did for a guy’ he kept bringing me bent rims for his old school cruiser’ the bike was old and junk’ he had the bike for 3 weeks and developed a rear flat…he bought it back…and promised to pay me for the work, I told the guy where’s his manual’ he claims he lost it…yeah right’ after repairing the flat…he forgot to pay me my $35 dollars in labor.
    1 month later he brings it back with a striped star gear’ old rims are prone to break’ he also burned out the clutch…his bike sits in my garage….I’m not touching it till he pays me $100’ includes the $35 dollars he stiffed me on.
    3rd encounter was a guy who was a complete dumb ass….when he tested it he over rev the shit out the motor’ after teaching how to ride…he decides to not use the 2 stroke oil I gave him and use marvel mystery oil…he also took apart the wire harness’ probably did it because the engine wouldn’t start’ he called me ever damn hour with stupid questions…I told him go on RUclips
    The guy threw the manual away….he calls the next day claiming he blew the head gasket’ that’s very rare on 2 stroke engines’ I sent a picture of the top gasket and bottom, and ask for him to send a picture with the head removed….he didn’t blow a head gasket the engine seized…I sent him the ad saying sold as…To make a long story short…he didn’t get a refund and his number is blocked.
    No matter how well and professionally you build them…there will always be idiots who shouldn’t ever own a gas bikes…all my bikes included a aftermarket jack shaft kit and dual lever brakes…the electric bikes sold rather quickly…so I will be doing e-bikes and selling accessories, like dash kits, frame covers using molded plastic’ that looks like a Motorcycle’ and rear mud flaps.

      +JohnnySkillish if i remember right, i sold this one for 300. they arent "profitable" to sell - take about 6 hours to build right, the kit costs 150. i have several motorized bike vids on my channel, but i have been out of the loop for about 2 years.

      Thanks for answering so quickly. Yeah, I'd onlu build it for myself, not to create a business. So although you've moved on, would you be willing to build one for me? If not, what kit would you recommend and which bike for someone with a bum knee? Any help appreciated. Thank you.

      if you take a peek at my channel, i just got alot going on. im trying to get my 302 powered rx-7 done and sold right now especially. i just got my kits off of ebay, they are now as low as 115 bucks. id recomend any v frame bike that does have shift cables running along the TOP of the upper tube, and that has thumb shifters. the turn shifters for the bike will be in the way.

    I love your vids on motorized bikes. Have you ever thought of doing reviews of kits or of parts? I'm an enthusiast with the 2.

      +Joshua Lucas your not part of a motorized bike facebook page are you? i have done several reviews on different parts including the boost bottle and the fred head, and then both of them together. iv always bought the ebay kits for the cheapest price possible. they work well if ran under 25 mph consistently.

      +Gunny Zoho If a coaster brake is for some reason something you enjoy having

    • @ThunderHead289
      @ThunderHead289  8 лет назад

      i have no idea why you would want a coaster brake. chain breaks and you die.

    • @PTMG
      @PTMG 8 лет назад

      Coaster brakes are terrible anyway, the reaction time isn't the same as lever brakes, and if you have coaster brakes, your feet ALWAYS need to rotate, regardless of whether or not you are being powered by the engine. Which may not be a huge issue if you are riding leisurely, but once you hit 15/20mph your feet are gonna be at a constant like 90-120RPM or so.Which will get old fast.
      Either way, front brakes are safer than rear brakes, so that in itself is a good enough reason to go with lever brake system. For efficient braking you should be at about a 60%/40% split between front/rear respectively.

    love the video, how much does it normal cost to build one? im looking into opts like this for long distinct travel

    • @ThunderHead289
      @ThunderHead289  8 лет назад

      +thunderlord2200 depending on upgrade and price of bike, 150 to 300. i generally try to get a bike for under 100. the older steel framed bikes are the best. the kit itself from ebay is only 130 to 150. so these can be built very cheaply.

    • @thunderlord2200

    I had a Coleman mini bike which was a pretty big mini bike. I decided to take governor of the motor. I'm a big guy 235lbs and if I full throttled the motor I could get thrown of it. When I was done with I sold to some small kid (I'm 15 btw) he was the same age as me. He bought before riding it thank god. I told him not to full throttle at all but he did not listen. He full throttled and popped a wheelie in the back of his pick up broke his arm and bent the foot rest into the pull start. He blamed that the throttle stuck which was bs. I least I got my $350.

    This looks like Ankeny. In fact I think I've seen that Blue F-100 before and dug it's vibe (Fellow Ford guy). South of Briarwood? I just sold my place on Briarwood Dr. and bought a little acreage out by Sailorville Lake. It's been a while. But that really looks like the Ankeny DMACC campus. Small world if so, I own a small motorized bicycle company based out of Ankeny. www.rivercitymotorbikes.com and also, I'm currently restoring a '66 Mustang convertible in the same shop, and on the market for a F-100 as a shop truck. Sounds like you and I could get along pretty well, so long as you like good beer ;)
