Clarence thomas should be forced to resign his seat on the supreme court.
How? Do you think he could be shamed into doing so? The Coke can guy? Really?
Resign? Maybe not, bad precedent for the eventual day the court is back in balance or liberal leaning and Republicans are screaming for resignation because “we did it in 2022” but he needs to step aside when conflicts of interest arise and maybe past decisions need a new review. One day someone will have to explain to me how judges are allowed and expected to use their political bias when making decisions. I’m an auditor and if I delivered reports on what I felt, rather than the factual evidence, I’d lose my job and career.

During Trump's Campaign, as President, after Losing, Trump and his allies flooded the daily terrain with so many Lies that not all could be addressed. That is a deliberate recipe of fascism (by the way, Seth did a Closer Look on a portion of this) so that some are never exposed as Lies and his followers can cling to those (for instance: a lot of the Wall on the Southern Border was already under replacement from decisions made years before but Trump posed there, of course. The fundraising scam and skim by Bannon and that's just 2 re: the Wall).

I was once robbed at gun point outside my house. They took everything we had on us including our wallet/purse, both phones, and some other stuff. Thanks to the quick action of the police, and the stupidity of the criminals, they caught them within 5 minutes of them taking off from in front of our house.
We asked if we could get our stuff back since, yknow, they had my license and my phone etc. The police said they couldn't give them back to us yet because they were evidence and that when they could give them back they would let us konw.

Back in 2008 I never thought getting addicted to internet message boards would cause problems on a national level. Based on the behavior of Ginni Thomas and friends, I can see I was wrong.
Social media was a mistake.
I remember how we used to believe that the internet was the place where bad ideas came to die and how it would democratize knowledge. Of course, this was before various interest groups realized that that they could drown out all the reasonable voices out there by outputting a constant, never-ending stream of lies and misinformation. It turns out the the old adage "lie hard enough for long enough and people will start to believe it" still holds true.
@@Muninnnr i hear ya. We weren't prepared for the fascists and cults to so eagerly seize on the medium - not did we expect social media giants like Facebook to actively promote that engagement. If American democracy falls, a large portion of the blame can be laid at the feet of Facebook and their engagement algo, and that's just sad.
The internet was supposed to be away for people to connect across the world and it has been just like social media. But it's also a place to hide the batshit crazy conspiracy theories on every level. And for people who are hanging on a thread a reality makes it even more dangerous.
