I always listen to Michelle Branch songs, riding my motorcycle and going to the mountains, stop at the side of the road, overlooking the mountains and sea. Greatest feeling.
I first understood this song at age 15 in 2002 after being rejected by a highschool crush - now at 32 I have learned its meaning in a much deeper, more painful and raw way all over again. Life feels like an endless cycle between "it's getting easier" and "it's getting so much harder than it's ever been".
Sorry to hear that. However, I still have the same feeling for this song that I did in junior high school. I literally had to say goodbye to this girl who was moving away and this song captured my feelings.
Of all the things I've believed in I just want to get it over with Tears from behind my eyes but I do not cry Counting the days pass me by I've been searchin' deep down in my soul Words that I'm hearin' are starting to get old It feels like I'm startin' all over again The last three years were just pretend And I said Goodbye to you Goodbye to everything that I knew You were the one I loved The one thing that I tried to hold onto I still get lost in your eyes And it seems that I can't live a day without you Closin' my eyes and you chase my thoughts away To a place where I am blinded by the light But it's not right Goodbye to you Goodbye to everything that I knew You were the one I loved The one thing that I tried to hold on to And it hurts to want everything And nothin' at the same time I want what's yours and I want what's mine I want you but I'm not givin' in this time Goodbye to you Goodbye to everything that I knew You were the one I loved The one thing that I tried to hold onto Goodbye to you Goodbye to everything I thought I knew You were the one I loved The one thing that I tried to hold onto The one thing that I tried to hold onto One thing that I tried to hold onto And when the stars fall I will lie awake You're my shooting star
Willow break-up with Tara. Buffy Season 6... So sad! Love this song. It really did add something to the atmosphere of the TV show episode. Oh boy, how I miss those days.
My high school girlfriend and I broke up in November of 2002 right around when this song came out. She died a month and a half later in January of 2003. I dedicate this song to her Also on a side note "Everywhere" was our original song.
Oh wow talk about making a guy cry fuck I'm so sorry. This goes out to my first boyfriend and first love who cheated on me all the time and abused me mentally and physically. I loved him so much, and all he did was hurt me... Until I said goodbye and I never let him him hurt me again. I still cry... For him. For us. It was my first taste of death.
"...and it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time" how cool is that? a song from more than a decade ago about this generation's hook-up culture. refusing to label relationships for what they are. great lyrics and a damn pretty face. you gotta love Michelle Branch.
vikka tiongson this was about Humpty hump? What is the fish supposed to symbolize? Her poonahnee 🤭? Why do all her videos have water too? It's like predictable. She captured all the elements too. Or the director did. It just sounded like a gypsy song to me 😔. Dedication to myself
@@ahhwe-any7434 the story in the music video is set in reverse 😉 the fish symbolizes herself. Freeing the fish out to the world meant she's freeing herself from all the toxic relationships she's had, however hard it may be. And i think michelle branch is naturally drawn to water because her sign is Cancer, born July 2nd. The gypsy vibe you're getting might be because of her wardrobe in this video, i'm still diggin' the baby doll dress/long blouse, the shawl, and the flared jeans and it's almost 2020 😂
I interpret that to mean wanting something but knowing it’s not good for you. Hence wanting everything & nothing at the same time. “I want you but I’m not giving in this time” not necessarily just about sex but to each their own
This song helped me go through painful breakup... I was madly in love with my ex as he was my saving grace, being gay and muslim ia difficult to the point that I got disowned by my family, he gave me the reason to live every single day he was there accompanying me through thick and thin. He left Malaysia for Boston to further his study, he changed suddenly... he met someone else and blamed on the long distant relationship, I brought him down he said but he had no idea he was my shooting star... this song will always remain special in my heart, thanks michelle for the beautiful gift...
It doesn't matter how many views she gets, the most important is shes cool talented and a very good mom. I lost count listening to her songs, a million maybe :)
Michelle has made so many good bops back in the day and even now. Truly talented and what a beauty. a really underrated hottie and a really underrated artist
Needs more coming of age, more curious yet independent thoughts, & less gimmicky crowds. This song hurts my traveling soul. But is somehow soothing at the same time. Kind of makes me think of sublimes bad fish too tho. Also, I still like her even after she smacked her husband. Prob the majority of all households have gotten some smackings in. If not, they're lying. He sounds like the antagonizer that likes to play victim.
You were my first concert ever in a dive bar in Cincinnati when you were hardly known.... i was 13 and i had to have an escort. I. A huge .usic lovwr but honestly having you with your blue guitat in such a small venue and the comfort or your music, the sound which was the same as the album... changed my life..id have it no other way. Your album helped to influence me and was so real.for the time
I just watched an old TRL clip from 2001 where Michelle had her blue guitar, and she gave Carson a green one. I just saw Michelle in concert here in DC, and it took me back to my college days in the early 2000s 😊
Your music encapsulates all the fond memories of my teenage days in itself. Listening to your music made me feel I wasn't alone and miserable and that there were still beautiful things in the world. You were my safe port. You were present in every part of my growing up. Thank you for your great music and talent and I hope you are living happily, wherever you are
Pop was a culture back those years ..I was in my teens and I was enchanted by this music video when it was first played on mtv ..it was mesmerizing ..it still does...
i miss this type of song.. full of guitar and drums only, now a days we can only hear few on the radio and almost no girls is a vocalist of a band or solo act but used a full band as a instrumental for her song..
It’s 2023 this song is not getting old I never get tired to play even for how many years or decade will passed such a great masterpiece during my childhood days ❤
I heard a snipet of this song on Buffy the T.v series and i said i have to find that song....when i did I fell in love with this song and Michelle Branch (Gorgeous)....did I mention i'm in love????
Epic inception! I first saw you perform this amazing song in an amazing Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode. It touched me then, and it touched me now. Subscribed! :D
"It hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time."
That line hits hard. Thank you, Michelle.
I always listen to Michelle Branch songs, riding my motorcycle and going to the mountains, stop at the side of the road, overlooking the mountains and sea. Greatest feeling.
Brent G Have you listened to West Coast Time or Hopeless Romantic yet?
I can relate to that. Most of her songs are suitable to listen to while travelling.
I always listen to MB since I was a kid and still hoping that I will meet her in person.
Obviously not Florida because I would be jamming with you ❤
Rewatching Buffy for the millionth time and now this song is stuck in my head.
Reminds me of Buffy too 😢
@@annikalelievre6140the Bronze for ever

Me too lol
Michelle's songs deserve more recognition
Yes and it's the 20th Anniversary of Michelle Branch releasing the Spirit Room album.
Beautiful woman, writer and singer. Need more of this to keep hopes alive.
I miss the 90´s and the 2000´s, now in 2020 things are not the same, including music...
Yeah now it's shit
Its annoyingly repetitive
Only Jazz and country music that are good for this generation and the rest is sucks.
watching this in 2021 ;)
@@theredbutterfly- there is still good music out there. You just have to find it.

@@amberslilrose3954 Unless, you had childhood trauma.

I miss the old days when i was just a teen 😢 if i just could go back in time..
definitely under-rated artist
I so agree
One of the most underrated.
Back in the day she was a big hit actually
Sooo agree she's a amazing singer 😍😍😍😍😍
That’s sooo 90’s, beginning of 2000’s wish I could go back to those times!!
Of all the things I've believed in
I just want to get it over with
Tears from behind my eyes but I do not cry
Counting the days pass me by
I've been searchin' deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearin' are starting to get old
It feels like I'm startin' all over again
The last three years were just pretend
And I said
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold onto
I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems that I can't live a day without you
Closin' my eyes and you chase my thoughts away
To a place where I am blinded by the light
But it's not right
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to
And it hurts to want everything
And nothin' at the same time
I want what's yours and I want what's mine
I want you but I'm not givin' in this time
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold onto
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold onto
The one thing that I tried to hold onto
One thing that I tried to hold onto
And when the stars fall I will lie awake
You're my shooting star
Aw Tara and Willow :'( right in the feelings!
why would you make me remember that?
love michelle branch bring back highschool days.

august 13 2019, and only just discovering this artist :)
Her wardrobe in this video was and still is the very best of that decade. ❤
It's already 2022 and still listening to this.
Memories. Missing the good old days of late 90s to early 2000s. Best era ever for me.
My high school girlfriend and I broke up in November of 2002 right around when this song came out.

Sometimes saying goodbye can be so painful but sometimes it is the most freeing and liberating thing. I love this song. The whole album is amazing.
"...and it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time"

I still hear this on the radio! At least some Americans aren't forgetting the best music decade! 90s!
This was from 2001-2002. Still one of my favorite songs.
That decade would be the 70s. But I love the hell out of Michelle Branch. I wish she would put out a new album.
The best era of music is the decade when you were a teen.
@@illimattic Thank you. I'm like, why does everyone think 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s was the best decade, how am I supposed to decide😂
One of the best voices to come out in years. It's so addictive.
Year end of 2022 but still visiting all 90's and 2000's song... and it mesmerized all that I've done ... it makes me smile and sad at the same time...
First breakup song. This era of pop/rock music was absolutely a high point. Sadly this isn’t the album version of the song and it’s not on Spotify.
I just watch buffy and i love this song it always makes me cry
Omg Michelle branch looked 👀 so pretty in this video. Her make up, hair, and outfits were on point. I miss her music, such a talented lady.

My favourite song by Michelle Branch! Miss Buffy and Charmed! ❤️
Always shed a little year listening to this song. Not sure if it's because of Buffy, my youth, song itself or a perfect combination of all.
I miss this quality of music....I wish she made a comeback
She did. She made an album 2 years ago called Hopeless Romantic. It doesn't sound like Michelle from 2001 to 2003. Its like 80's Indie Pop
This is such a good song
good old days :) too much nostagia
How amazing is her music. I felt everything and am taken back in time everytime I hear her music.
Can't wait for the new album.
Such an amazing song
