Pregnancy Complications in Japan

- Maiko is having pregnancy complications in Japan and we visit her clinic in Tokyo. We also discuss pregnancy costs in Japan and share with you how much birth costs for us in Japan. Didn't expect child birth to be this expensive, but when it's an option of painless childbirth in Japan or natural childbirth in Japan, we're fortunate to be able to make a choice.
Also, we finally figured out the Amazon Baby Registry for those of you who were interested. We'll work on updating it a bit more and then do a baby shower video in the future. amzn.to/33hhsWS.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and support. Also, we finally figured out the Amazon Baby Registry for those of you who were interested. Your a resourceful man and Maiko is a strong gal, your faith in each other will get you past this thing called life. Good luck for what it's worth.
Signed one 'Mental' fan.
To add some comfort, my niece had gestational diabetes for both her children. It's temporary. However, both her children are very healthy and normal. No other woman in our family had that. However, I work at a hospital here in Canada and it does happen to some women during pregnancy. Watching their diet isn't always easy especially in Maiko's case. Glad they caught it and she can stay on top of it. Thank you SO MUCH for updating us. It will all be okay. I feel so honored being on this important journey with you two. Sending lots of love and support your way. ♥️🕊️🕊️♥️🙏
Buy organic turmeric and take once daily...it cures any diabetic complications. Start as soon as possible
Hi! I'm the one who talked about the scented disposable diapers bags for diapers. Look at "diapers bags disposable" on amazon.com and you'll find them. They're very inexpensive and conveniant. It doesn't take up space. And you can use it at home and also when you go out. (It's better to leave an oderless diaper in the trash of a friend or a public space ;) ) I had the diaper genie but stopped using it: it was too expensive and there was still some bad smells.
I also had some very heavy pelvic pains in one of my pregnancies and did some acupuncture and the pain stopped. I hope it can help Maiko if it hurts again. I think it's related to the fact that the pelvis widens to prepare for the birth of the baby.
Last but not least, I'm very happy that giving birth is free in France! The price you pay reminds me to be grateful for our health system!
We can have a "painless" birth with an epidural in every maternity whether private or public. I wonder why it is not more widespread in Japan because many Japanese women seem to want an epidural since you say that the clinics that do it are in high demand. Do you have any idea if there is there a reason for this?
@@mentalphilanthropist35 I appreciate the positive words!
My friend had the gestational diabetes both times during her pregnancy and both kids turned out just fine. Be cautious and do what you're supposed to ordered by the doctor, but don't stress out too much. It'll be okay! Best wishes to you both!
Yeah, Maiko is being more careful of what she eats.
I had it for my second child. I was very worried because I had a hard time controlling my diet!! I wanted to eat EVERYTHING...
In the last trimester, I lost 1kg while he continued to gain weight. Haha...
@@PaolofromTOKYO Please read up about the effect on the child in the future. It's no one's fault. Just a broken world.
I was a Nursing student at one point and we talked about this. Apparently it is fairly common but not dangerous as long as you manage it. Probably a little less carbs and a pinch more protein, less salt and sugar. Basically, eat healthier with complex carbs and fewer carbs, etc.
Try not to worry about changes or unexpected complications. Most things are quite common, you just won’t know that until it happens to you. Baby will be beautiful no matter what. Stay positive and excited, emotions are really important, mothers and unborn babies are incredibly sensitive to hormones. A strong dad is a solid partner for mother to lean on! Keep smiling you guys, we support you all the way!
take struggles as an extra motivation to stay calm and balanced. Eat healthy, relax and keep a positive attitude : ). It will be okay
I feel bad for all the pregnant women dealing with a difficult time but also corona virus! Wishing you guys all the best!
Sikachu in Japan I’m in the US, how is the virus in Japan?
Coronavirus has been proven to not be dangerous for pregnant women. Most will survive it. Her issue is more about her gestational diabetes. That makes it more dangerous.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Maiko and Paolo! You've got the whole world rooting for you!
Thanks Chalkie!
Maiko has a very strong attitude - she's amazing!
Love and prayers for the both of you as you tackle this very challenging phase of the pregnancy.
My wife had gestational diabetes during the birth of our first son. As long as you can keep it under control it should be fine. Good luck!
I second this! We were also very discouraged and worried. But It is very common especially with Asians. We had to just be careful with what she ate and we realised we just ended up just eating healthier .. which is a blessing in disguise. Baby is fine and other friends who have it, baby is fine! Tip: invest a tiny bit in a good glucometer with good needles to make it as painless as possible!
I third this, good luck with it all we love you guys!
a well-balanced and nutritional diet is the key.
Y’all will be ok....so will the sweet baby. Thank you for sharing y’all’s life with us. Yes!!! Set up a virtual baby shower!
Thanks Cynthia Green! We're working on it.
Will keep y'all in my prayers and at least y'all found out and they have standards and measures for it . Keep the positive vibes 💖
Yes, "thoughts and prayers" help so much they cured cancer.

Anyone who can dislike this video, may God don't bless you. A video of new parents concering their 7 months pregnant baby health, you effing have no heart and soul to dislike a content like this.
May Paolo and Maiko's soon to be born baby be healthy and adorable, thank you.
Prayers and hugs. Drink lots of water to get that high blood sugar down. Finger pricking not so bad.
I had gestational diabetes with my twins. I had to eat carefully and check my blood sugar levels every day. They are 12 now and are healthy! Don't stress too much as that isn't good for the baby either! You guys are great and all will be well! We just moved to Yokohama and are grateful for all of your videos helping us! Good luck to you guys!
I'm really impressed by how quickly Maiko can walk during her third trimester! I was waddling around slowly and my husband had to keep stopping to wait for me. 😅 I know it's a bit scary hearing about gestational diabetes, but just trust in your doctors and everything will be fine. You're going to be happy (and very tired) parents in just a few more weeks!
In my second pregnancy, I was tested and had gestational diabetes. I no longer had it after the baby was born and the baby was born normal weight. It is common and it does go away after childbirth. You are a wonderful couple keep videos coming.
your son is going to watch this one day and see how loving parents you are even before he was born
I hope everything is ok. 🧡 My mother had pregnancy diabetes for both my siblings and I. None of us had issues, just two of us needed a cesarean section.
Hopefully everything is good. 🧡
Hey Paolo, I wish you well over there my friend, stay safe!
Thanks Just Some Guy without a Mustache!
Omg you are everywhere I go Mustache guy
you are litteraly everywhere
Praying for you guys. Such a wonderful family. She will make an awesome mother and you will be a great dad.
We have a four month old and my wife also had this. Baby was born full term and both him and mom are doing fine. You guys got this. Just remain calm and you'll be fine. Daily meditations together should help. Ganbatte!
Guys trust in the doctors my wife had this twice with our sons and they are very healthy, keep the faith and Message if you need any advice ❤️ from New Zealand
It's actually very common in my country too, so it's gonna be fine when you do what your doctor suggested. Looks like having a baby in Japan is really expensive. That's interesting to me because I thought pregnancy ratings are low there and government wants to raise the population a little. Best wishes.
I know right. I thought atleast govt will make childbirth related expenses cheap to give an incentive to actually have children
I had gestational diabetes with my second child. I had to completely watch the amount of carbs I ate - no rice, noodles, bread and potatoes or starchy veg like corn - which is like a life sentence for an Asian. Also, limited fruit and sugar. You can eat plenty of protein, meat, veg, chicken or fish. This should help bring her blood sugar down. The rest of my pregnancy went well. I rested more than usual. My son was a very big baby.. 9lbs 2oz, which is big for a 5'2" woman.. Just take good care of yourself and try to limit your carbs. You'll be ok..
Yes my niece had it for both of her babies. Watching what you eat while you're pregnant can't be the easiest thing.
Sending positive vibes your and the baby's way 👐
It sounds like there really shouldn't be any complications as Maiko's blood glucose is only slightly elevated. But it's great that they are taking every measure to protect the baby :)
I had gestational diabetes in my pregnancy because I barely passed the test. Everything was perfect though. I just modified my diet a little bit throughout the rest of pregnancy by eating extra protein with every meal. My baby was born full-term and healthy. I wish you both the very best and I hope this can help you relax a bit. Also, I don't think you need a diaper genie. A regular trash can is just fine. Baby poop doesn't get stinky until they start eating solids. I breastfed full-time though so I don't know if that makes a difference.
I wish the 3 of you the best. My wife had complications during both of our pregnancies, but everything turned out well.
my wife also have the same issue, and her OB sent her to the high risk pregnancy clinic and also need to have a dietitian visit(in the same clinic) for guideline about how to eat every meal.
My wife is pregnant too and it's our first so I can fully relate to your pregnancy videos. At the same time we love Japan (glad that we have visited earlier this year before the Corona stuff) so really love your channels. Keep it up! 👍👍👍
A friend here in Oz just had their bub, she had gestational diabetes as well, had the Bub a little early bub all went well! A little cutie that no one can meet due to covid-19 social distancing.. her parents have quarantined so they can meet him and help.... you guys will be fine as well! 🥰
kind of political question: Why does Japan not give even more child birth support when birth rates are so low already?
they do.. spending depends on your lifestyle 🙂
It's weird, I only found this video now, so I'm waving at Paolo from the future going, "Don't worry! Wolfy is going to be just fine and adorable and so happy!"
Sorry to hear the bad news. Praying for you guys that things will smooth out and both will be well and healthy.
I know it’s a week late but I love your family’s videos and I’ve been watching them for well over a year now.☺️ my daughter was born last April and I to had gestational diabetes, which did make my pregnancy a little difficult “high risk” i live in the U.S and my doctor at the time wanted to induce me a week early so at 39 weeks. I didn’t dilate even with the help of the medications. So I did end up having a cesarean. BUT...I’m so glad I did because my daughter came out 9 lbs 2.5 Oz !! She was a big baby and that is why I couldn’t dilate fully. It was rough for the first two weeks healing but my daughter blood sugar was great and she’s is perfect!! I hope that she’s and baby has a safe and smooth delivery. And I’m so excited to watch your little family grow and more videos to come. Being a parent is one of the best feelings in the world. It changes your complete out look on life.
My friend has just given birth to a lovely baby boy and she had pregnancy diabetes, she had to watch her food and after his birth she was kept in for a few days, sending you positive thoughts
Hey love. I have had 2 c-sections. It is not as bad a everyone makes it out to be. And Gestational Diabetes is common. A lot of women have false positives and here in the USA they retest. The babies face will not be messed up and will not cause birth defects. Yes the baby can be bigger and have an issue regulating their body temp for a few hours. Please please don't freak out. This stuff if VERY VERY normal and can be easily remedied with medication and diet. Much love, Danielle
Also, my first pregnancy was TWINS...And I also tested positive the first test then negative the second
Thanks Vermont Maple! It was good to talk to the doctor and find out that Maiko was only slightly over the threshold.
Because I had to have an emergency C-section, gave birth to Twins. In 1997...My total birth cost was ......82,000!!! in 1997!! Thank GOD for Medicaid.
Oh my Maiko! Please ask all the necessary questions and make the right decisions to have a healthy baby and safe delivery .Please take good care!
I was so scared at the start of the video aaaaaa, thank god it's not that terrible. Take care the three of you!!! Keeping positive vibes and energy!
All my prayers with Maiko and the baby, I hope they both get safe and healthy.
Big love from England! Hope you, Maiko and Baby are keeping safe during the worlds uncertain times! Loving your new channel! Enjoy some free time together, baby will be here soon and you will wonder how you ever lived without having your wonderful son in your lives
I get it that Japan has a safety net, but stories like this make me so glad that I live in a country that has fully socialised healthcare...
My first child was born in a specialised maternity hospital and required an emergency C-section after 10 hours of labour followed by a six day stay in said hospital... Out of pocket was $0 (We did engage our private health care cover, which means the hospital is compensated somewhat, but that was entirely optional). "Painless" is an option offered at all hospitals and is 100% free
Second child was born at 25 weeks (He turned out 100% ok, but if he had of decided to come 6 days later I would have been on holiday in Osaka and this would have been a much more expensive story :O)
Required a full NICU stay for 4 months (Out of pocket for this would have been ~US$4k per day, so best part of half a million dollars), actual cost to me $0. I will never, ever complain about paying taxes ever again :D
My friend had GD. Her son was a huge baby but both mother and child were given a clean bill of health after the birth. The diabetes went away shortly after birth too. She paid a lot of attention to what she ate from the time she was diagnosed to birth. She literally had a journal of what she ate for every meal every day. Everything will be fine as long as care is taken. 頑張れます!!
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in September which was devastating. I was referred to a nutritionist who gave me pamphlet that had all the foods I can eat that wouldn’t raise my glucose levels too high. I also had a phobia of needles and pricking my finger 4 times a day scared me. I used my left thumb and made sure to prick the side where it was less painful. I was 100% diet controlled and didn’t need to be put on insulin and on 12/2/19 I gave birth naturally to a 7lb 5oz healthy boy. I promise you, everything will be ok!
Maiko and Paolo do not worry or get stressed everything will be fine Take care Maiko
It's a very common complication, the nurses and doctors will help you come through everything you need if necessary, please apply their recommendations and most important do not be too worried/stressed, it impacts the baby as well!
Hi Paolo and Maiko....not to worry this is more common than you think. I had it for my you youngest child she was born healthy... big baby 10 lbs 8 oz...she's fine never had an issue neither did I... don't stress this ...its alright... God bless!!! I'm so excited for you...can't wait to see him...
I'm so sorry for you guys, I really hope that things will get better 🙏🏽💕
my heart and prayers go out to you and your wife may you be safe as well as for your child
We had 2 kids in NZ cost less than $1000 each, best of luck to you.
Paolo, I can relate to worrying, wait ‘til you’re bringing your wee one home.
Driving home with my wife snd new born was a surreal experience. I’d never been so aware of everything on the road :)
ENJOY !
Hi Maiko & Paolo, if i'm not mistaken the lady who has lisence as mentioned before called 'Doula'. She'll assist the mommy to be during the labor or before. My wishes to you both (especially to Maiko) to keep positive thinking & follow the instruction from your obgyn. Good luck, stay strong!
I feel for you man. I had 2 kids first in Canada and second in Japan. Not going to lie every test on the first child freaked us. Then when the baby came out, everything that was slightly off freaked us out as well. When the 2nd came we realized we worried way too much.
I currently am 26 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes since I was about 9 weeks pregnant. As long as you monitor your blood sugar level and control via diet, you’ll be ok.As for pre clampsia and premature birth, I was prescribed baby aspirin to help prevent it as my blood pressure was high during one of the doctor visits...So check with ur doctor if Maiko’s blood pressure is high maybe ask if it is necessary.
Eat less rice/carbs, walk heaps, stay active.Pasta and Soba are actually the carbs I could eat more without going over my sugar level.Avoid grapes...U hv one and it becomes bad.Eating multigrain bread vs white bread helps too! U can do it!I’ve had days where I’ve walked around lot and treated myself to chocolate cos I could afford to🙊.Staying active definitely helps! As long as you keep the sugar level safe, u will be ok.I’ve had family and friends that had to go through this and their kids were fine.Every scan that I’ve had, my baby was average size and not overly big.I have only gained 1 kilo in the last 26 weeks.I know it is hard not to worry but u can do it!💪🏻.
Praying for a safe delivery, healthy baby and Momma and Daddy! God bless you all! ❤️🙏🏻
I had gestational diabetes with my pregnancy. They sent me to a special class where I learned how to eat healthy and with low sugar and carbs. They calculate how many calories you need a day and then how many carbs you can have per meal and snacks. I followed the directions and had a healthy baby. Just get a good blood glucose monitor and take your blood sugar a few times a day and eat healthy with the right amount of carbs and you and your baby will be fine. Stay positive and know that it should be very manageable!
Hi, I'm from Australia and it's not too uncommon for a pregnant woman to have high blood sugar levels.
My wife was at the sugar level limit on her first test, and managed to drop her sugar levels by being VERY strict with her diet. This included replacing white rice with brown rice entirely, and cutting out processed sugary foods.
Ganbatte! All the best!
Hello! I'm an American living in Yokohama and I really enjoy your videos! I hope everything will turn out ok for you and your family!
I had gestational diabetes with my recent pregnancy and there was concerns my baby would be bigger so I was induced a week early. But, she was only 8 pounds. A normal size here in Australia. Goodluck on your journey to being parents!. ❤️
Pray everything works out wonderfully. Much love to you three 😊
No doubt in my mind that the two of you will get through this rough spot and be the best parents ever. Stay open with each other and all will be well.
Hey Maiko and Paolo - Don't let it get you down too much. My wife had Gestational diabetes when we had our first son who is now 4 and is doing really well. All you need to do is change her diet during the course of pregnancy and keep the sugar levels down (I know its hard to do but you need to do it both for Maiko's health and the babies). After the birth my wife was able to get back on her normal diet! Sweets and all. Keep your head up guys. Great videos.
My mom had gestacional diabetes during my older sister pregnancy. She was born healthy, I was only some weeks earlier than expected, but a healthy baby too. I think everything will be okay with Maiko and the baby!
Don’t worry I had gestational diabetes too and my baby was alright. I just controlled my diet very well during my pregnancy.
Every parents wishes to be her/his child to be healthy above all ..have a safe delivery maiko dear i wish you well and baby on the way ❤️
Paolo reminds me of my husband "we will get through it". Preserve. Knowledge is power. ❤
You and your family are in my thoughts for everything to get better! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Just focus on what you can do right now and give Maiko all the support she needs 😊👍 sending my regards to her and your baby❤️ - 🇵🇭
Many women get this later in pregnancy 🤰 my aunt did! It sucks for momma big time but it’s rare for it to harm baby! Sending Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦💝💖
Fingers crossed for you Maiko! I failed my first test but passed the second test. Even if you have gestational diabetes, you just need to monitor what you eat, and they'll really track the baby's size more closely. The doctors might be worried about preeclampsia, which is definitely something to keep an eye out for if you do have GD. Plenty of people have GD and still give birth naturally and nothing bad happens to their baby. 😊
If you live outside big city like Tokyo or don’t choose fancy hospital, usually 420,000yen will cover natural birth AND regular check ups.
Also if you work for a company, you will have child-raising-leave which will be paid 2/3 of your regular income up to 2years by health insurance and during this leave you don’t have to pay income tax and health insurance. So your disposal income won’t be much less. Furthermore, if you work for a big company, you are likely to get additional compensation from their health insurance.
Prenatal appointment, blood tests and birthing is free in New Zealand. Only thing you pay for is prenatal pills (which is $5 for a 3 months supply) and ultrasounds. When you give birth in hospital or birthing centers, it is free
I STRONGLY recommend you look at used clothing/baby stuff. There's tons out there and your son doesn't need all the brand-new expensive stuff. If you think your son's birth is expensive, wait until he's born and you have to buy all this stuff, and pay for all the doctor's visits afterwards, schooling, etc. It's just like a hole in your pocket, money will keep falling out. Feature your baby shower list prominently. Ask for and get as much help as you can financially and after birth with your relatives to take care of the baby because you will NEED it. It's very true that the first baby is nerve-racking and you go overboard buying all this stuff and taking huge baby bags with you everywhere. The 2nd baby - the mom just sticks a diaper in her purse and off she goes. It's like traveling - you pack a lot less later - you learn to do more with less after traveling for a while. Good luck!
Thanks fo sharing and greetings from Germany. You looked nervous. As father of three kids my advise is to stay calm and informed. I am confident everything will be good in the end.
Follow the dietitian. the hungry is what's worst as you are always hungry with this type of issue.
Miko is cool, but you Paolo is worried. Just follow the health care providers and it will work out in the end. BUT the first baby is always a challenge... wait until the 2nd & 3rd, you'll be soo relaxed.
Many blessing to you both. Glad you were able to get the Amazon Baby Registry done.
Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy, and a safe delivery of your baby boy xx
I want to share my pregnancy experience to ease your minds, I had gestational diabetes as well. I ballooned to 175lbs, normally 125lbs, had constant pressure you spoke about, had to wear a monitor to alert the hospital because I would faint from the swinging blood sugar levels. Basically a hot baby making mess. I was so worried what this was doing to my baby. On January 17, 2001 I naturally gave birth to a very healthy, beautiful 10.2lbs girl. She was literally magenta colored from jaundice, but other than that perfectly healthy. My blood sugars immediately went back to normal. The pregnancy weight came off and today Baby Girl is an award winning Scholar. What you are experiencing is very scary. Take care of each other and soon you will be a beautiful, healthy family of three. Congratulations!!
Oh goodness. I am due on the 9th of Aug. I do not have my test for that till the 11th fo May. There is a load of complications that we have to worry about as well because I have had preeclampsia which put me and the baby at risk with my first one. This time they are looking at me a whole lot closer...and start blood-thinning shoots at week 28 and in my third trimester they will be reviewing me each week in less they start seeing issues, if they start seeing issues I will be seen more often or admitted into the hospital. Really hopeful that my test goes well on the 11th of May so that it will not add to it all...Best of luck to you guys!! You guys have got this!! Do take care, and rest up!
Best of luck with your pregnancy. Gestational Diabetes with proper diet is totally manageable. I had it with my second child. I had a normal delivery and now i have a super healthy, energetic 9 yr old daughter.
I am sorry you guys are disappointed and overwhelmed about the gestational diabetes. I am from the U.S. and I have had several friends who had gestational diabetes with their children and it isn't ideal to have that but I know for a fact you guys and little one will come thru this stronger than ever! I'm sending positive thoughts and good vibes your way! 😍🤩🥰❤❤❤
Yeah, it seems like 1 out of 8 women get it.
@@TokyoZebra I hope that this means no more complications! You've used up your one! 😆😉
Praying for you three be safe have faith
My boy was born with a heart condition that is so rare, 100:100 000. Two open heart surgeries and he is turning 5 soon! Drs will tell you the worst case so as to not get your hopes up. I had to had an emergency c section at another hospital. The c section took place after 14 hours of labour due to his heart rate dropping. First epidural didn't work! Spent a year in and out of hospital, but enjoying life now together. Don't worry to much about stuff happening, just hope for a happy baby! Stuff happens but so do miracles. Don't worry, be happy!
Maiko, as a mother of two babies(one with suspected gestational diabetes) he was born big 9lbs 1oz(but he is small for his age(he is 17 now). My 2nd baby(daughter) I DID test positive for gestational diabetes and you can control it by limited your carbs. The baby has a chance of diabetes maybe later in life, but if you are good with your diet you should be ok. Gestational diabetes is just a diabetes with pregnancy....it may up your chances for diabetes later in life, but it is not like guaranteed. My 2nd child actually came out early and only 6lbs 10oz....the doctors were expecting her to be like 8lbs closer to her big brother. She is now 14. Granted, my first one was so big(his head was big) that I had to have a c-section. It was disheartening at first, but it is better for the mom and baby. So, do not worry too much...just change your diet a bit and check your blood sugar when they tell you to. You'll be a great mom! Btw, both of my kids are totally fine. :) No deformities or whatever because of the gestational diabetes. Hang in there! Sending you healthy pregnancy vibes! :D
Praying for you both and the baby. Stay strong!
Don't worry too much, if you feel relaxed and happy, the baby will just be fine! Actually, I and my husband are also searching for a house in Tokyo (planning to have a baby next year), if you go explore some uninteresting neighborhoods like Edokawa-Ku, Adachi-Ku, and Katsushika-Ku or Machita city, Tama city, the cost will be significantly cheaper. Maybe we should hang out and search for houses together on weekends, lol. Best regards, Amy
Wife had high blood sugar on first test with second child. Second test was normal. That's very common. Sending the kindest wishes from our family to yours! About Diaper Genie, we buy generic cartridges at Walmart and pay less for a 4-pack than the branded 3-pack, each cartridge with same capacity. Also we save by throwing only poo diapers in there, and pee diapers in regular garbage, as they're not that stinky.
Aloha from Honolulu 🤙. I hope Miko is ok. I'll say some prayers for a healthy baby boy. Don't worry guys. Everything is going to come out good! And I love your channels ☺
Hang in there you two. I know it seems like quite stressful right now, but everything will be fine. I also had issues with gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my son(I have 3 children, all grown now). He was a very large baby, over 10lbs but a very easy delivery. I chose not to have any pain meds with my last 2.
Dear Team Paolo, aside from Doctors and the medical world, I feel that you should look at your sure to be healthy and beautiful baby as an “absorber” of everything including thoughts. When situations are difficult it’s hard not to get worried etc, so it’ll be helpful if y’all can meditate and visualise on a bright and healthy future. It is as important and eating healthy. Else I can’t wait to welcome the new addition of team Paolo!
I wish you all well and I hope and pray that your all's baby is born safe and healthy, and not premature like I was. I was born three and a half months premature back in 1988, and I was sick all the time as a premature baby. I had to get a blood transfusion after the doctors did surgery on my back to repair a blood vessel that didn't close at the time, and I have asthma. Plus I suffer from Bipolar Disorder, which I think is from my premature birth since mental diseases does not run in either side of my family (my mom is from the Philippines and my dad is originally from California), and researchers in Sweden discovered that premature infants are twice as more likely to grow up suffering from mental disorders like Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, etc. I take Latuda for my Bipolar Disorder and it helps me a lot. Anyway, I hope you and Maiko the best of luck, and that your all's baby is born safe and healthy.
Prayers and hugs to you both of you. Hoping for a healthy baby! Blessings! You will be great parents! 💕👍
My darlings don't stress out. All of my friends had the same numbers of sugar levels like Maiko. A change of diet and regular checks and you will be excellent!!sugar levels are going up and down like crazy to all of us. Don't think about it and don't get stressed. Love and prayers from Greece I love you guys 😘😘😘😘💚💚💚💚💚
Thanks for sharing!!
Wishing you both all the best. We have always loved your energy and positive attitude and it's obviously a bit of a stressful time for you at the moment, but as you said... you will get through it.
I had gestational diabetes but never had to make meds, I just watched my carbs/sugars. Baby was born a normal size since since I kept my diet under control. She also didn’t have high blood sugar. She’s six months last week and only 15 pounds. My glucose test result was 182, too! Just remember everyone’s different. Don’t scare yourself too much, just be careful what you eat. 😊
Hope you and the baby will be fine, Maiko! Take good care, I am sending you lots of good energy! Hugs from France.
I'm diabetic so i don't know if it's applied to you but start invest on glucose meter (it's relatively cheap) and use it to check your blood sugar 2 hour after you eat. If it spiked then don't eat that food. Start with less type of food. And of course consult your doctor.
Hang in there, Pablo and Maiko-san. My wife had to take the 2nd test for both of my kids. And they're now grown up with no issues. Exactly right that it's fairly common.
I had gestational diabetes with both my kids, it’s very common in asians, it’s got to do with our genetics. Even if you do have it you just need to control your diet, you will find that your blood sugars will get worse after 32 weeks when your hormones are going crazy and this is completely normal. Don’t stress guys it’s really not that bad but it’s understandable to be scared, it’s your first pregnancy!
My wife had Pregnancy Diabetes when pregnant with our 1st child. I remember we both were scared at first. However my wife saw a nutritionist, she followed a strict diet, checked her levels everyday. We did have a Doula by our side. She guided us, gave us advice & calmed us down through the pregnancy. So, yes Pregnancy Diabetes is a big deal but If you eat healthy, follow a good diet. Things will be fine.
Stay positive for both of you, especially for Maiko and the baby.
Just wanna say hello 👋
From Philippines 😇
Sad to hear this is happening to two fine people. I hope for the best for you both...and the baby. Be strong and always think positive thoughts. Thoughts and prayers sent to you from HI!
He is so funny, he usually say wrong informations and she always correct him 😅
Good vibes your way! I work in the medical field and in all honesty this is really common! Much love from mn! U guys got this!
I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. Please hang in there. It's hard but very doable. I have pricked myself a few times a day...sometimes at work! This is good for you and the baby. I learnt a lot from this experience....it teaches you to eat a healthy, balanced diet with consistent exercises. This too shall pass. Good luck with everything
