“213 will regulate” is a double entendre. 213 is in fact the group Warren G, Nate Dogg and Snoop were in as Kai stated but also, the area code (Los Angeles) in which they all grew up. I loved the fact your dad recognized Ice Cube had a similar sound and story. It’s because they’re all from the same place, living the same lives. Craps, cruising’ and girls were a big thing in LA in the nineties. This video made this Cali girl feel all nostalgic☺️

I listened to the real popular stuff and I remember seeing/hearing some stuff on MTV but it never connected. Then...I don't know...something happened in the last few years for me. Hearing new songs, stories/meaning behind them, the history and back ground of the artists....just have a lot of respect and love for it now. Late to the game but enjoying it.

The entrance to Regulate is from the Motion Picture Young Guns. When he says “Regulators, we Regulate any stealing of his property, we’re damn good too. Ya gotta be handy with the steel if ya know what I mean. Earn ya keep.” It was a movie about Billy The Kid. Billy is introduced to a group of men working for a farmer, they are basically laborers, but they also make sure no one steals from their boss. They then later become an Outlaw Gang when their boss is murdered. The song sample is from Michael McDonald’s “I Keep Forgetting”
