The Straight Vape, your good buddy. I've been subscribed to the top 7...or 10 vaping youtube channels, of some good and funny reviewers, for years now and im pissed that i just now found your channel. the wire description video is something %100 of vapors now days NEED TO KNOW. As far as I know your the only one who has made a video like this. Very smart and done well. Im subscribed now. Again great job. i also think you should do a more in depth follow up, something like "learning about temp control for the new vaper".
Nice video, I was looking for a more in-depth video on the gimmicky wires, you pretty much cleared the difference to what wire for VW or TC.. But are there any other use for other than Kanthal wires? Flavor, vapor production are very similar across the board? I realize the video might have gone on a lot longer then you would have liked it to, but these are just my thoughts. I also heard about Nichrome wire, the only thing I know about it is that is has alot less resistance so it heats up real quick. Anyway thx for reading my comment, keep up the good job!
All excellent points and gives me an idea... I'll do an update "wire" video explaining just that! To answer your question, any "special" wires like Clapton or Alien, Fused Clapton, will produce a better flavor over a simple, single round wire.
Burak Eren --- clapton is a STYLE of wire, not a material. clapton style can be made of anything. TControl is based on MATERIAL of wire, so you need to know that first, ohms don't matter here, material does. lots of claptons are combo (kanthal wires + ss), so take that into account. TC is for Titanium, SS, Ni, etc. wattage mode is kanthal, ss. -- Ti & Ni can ONLY be used in TC, as the heat when unregulated will produce poisons coming off of those metals.
I started vaping a couple of months ago and pretty much just dived in head first, by mixing my own juice and buying a couple of rta's. It's pretty overwhelming, and is costing me more than I was spending on tobacco by a big margin. I've become a bit of a vape goods shopaholic lol.
different types of stainless steel. I'm by no means a wire guru, this video was to help sort out the main types of wires used in vaping. I do know that you should try to use the specific stainless steel settings. 316L is the most common type and if you have coils/wire with other types of stainless steel, you'll need to find the TCR value for that specific type and use it in your mod, if your mod supports TCR modes.
Cleaned up the double posts :) no worries. yes, 316L is a type of Stainless. The gauge like 24 awg, is the diameter of the wire itself. I know of 304, 306, 316 and 316L stainless steel. 316L seems to be the most popular type of Stainless wire for vaping.
We offer 430 Steel as well. Higher TCR and much more accurate TC. There are many different grades of steel and many in between. My company was the first to sell SS wire and coils for vaping in 2015. Edit: And props to you The Straight Vape, great educational vid for people.
Ohh that what it looks like! thanks for your experience... Now I also need to buy several wires and gauges, test what is appropriate and become a fan of that wire, then I can choose what is better. Again thanks!
Can someone explain why some people may want to use fancier coils like fused claptons, aliens etc? I'm new to building and don't really understand why there's so much variety if they all do the same thing.
Depends on how much wire you have in your vape and what resistance you're at. It you're using a prebuilt coil, the resistance should tell you what you should be vaping at. It you could drop your vapes specifications, how much wire, how many coils, what you're vaping at, I could let you know. If you're burning up your coils within a week you're definitely too high, hope to hear back from ya. Happy vaping :)
arif rahman --- ss is a material. clapton is a style, & can be ss or not. ss316L is the best for flavor according to everything i have read/seen. & my own experience. it also is considered the most safe as it will vary its own resistance if pushed, regarding electrical concerns. regarding content/poisons, it comes out on top there as well, & nickel is the absolute worst.
TCONTROL is about wire MATERIAL; clapton is a STYLE of whatever wire. so, a TC wire can be used in any style (clapton, etc), just has to be the right material (ss, titanium, etc.), & a clapton STYLE can be a TC material or not. a sub ohm tank just means it will accept coil resistances of less than 1 ohm; it does not care what style or material they are.
What type of metal wire is used on the pro mech 2 by vgod? Brand names please, ps: I can’t ohm test them because my country doesn’t have ohm testers and they were confiscated when ordered for some dumb reason.
ricky malabanan --- setting (TC vs wattage mode) depends on material of wire. clapton is a STYLE of wire, not a material. your wattage will depend on your ohms. no way to answer that without us researching what is already available to you on your wire label. is it material that works in TC? what are the ohms?
Just got into rebuildables. Found your channel. My Dead Rabbit v3 came with 2 x 3mm claptons 0.37 and both read 0.17 on my Thelema 200W Mod. They didn't specify anything else on the coils. If I want flavor & decent cloud, what type of material should I go for If I plan on wrapping my own coils and what system is right for me, RTA, RDA or RDTA? Even though you've answered most of my questions but, I still see terms like kernel, wrapped, flat of parallel on coils on the Aliexpress website, does kernel mean the type of wire or what does it mean? what are these other terms? And tell me what I can combine to get a single coil build on that Dead Rabbit RTA, diameter, material type, gauge, olhmage to get good good flavor and decent cloud. and yes, I have temperature control/mode on my Thelema.
yo choose different awg to get lower or higher resistances, & people want low or high depending on their taste/cloud desires. fatter wire (lower awg #) = lower resistance/ohms supposedly = better flavor.
Hundreds and thousands videos on YT yet so few really explaining anything about coils and specially the 28awg and the 32 awg had me confused... I wanted to get coils that i can rebuild in my infinix2 pods cuz the one it came with tasted horrible, I mean like a dead corpse horrible level... anyway thank you for putting out this video in the world... took time searching it... can you do more of these videos? like if you're not busy....
You prefer SS but they get hot spots, which one of these materials doesn't get hot spots? and when you mean space your coils, you mean space each wrap/turn from each other or you mean space each complete coils from each other and from the deck walls/honeycomb? Lastly, what is Ni80? is that the same as Nichrome? is not what is it?
This wire is used mainly for vaping but I dont see why you couldnt use something like 20-24 gauge stainless or kanthal for your costumes and figures. its easy to bend and hard to break.
Now that we've lost the fight with the FDA we need to push the tobacco companies to also to also disclose ALL the ingreadanrs in their cigs as well seeing how the juice must list ingredients
I have a normal clapton coil with 32GA A1 wrapped around a 26GA A1, question is, can I run it on temp. mode on my joyetech cuboid? If so, which setting? *I have no idea what A1 etc stands for and yes, I'm a total newbie.
Sir, what's a good coil to use? And how many Ohms should I target? I'm planning to buy an RDA and roll my own coil and wick my own cotton. My battery is currently the Efes 18500, 1000 mAH, 15A, 3.7V, Max continuous discharge of 10A, and max pukse discharge of 15A. My mod can only run until 50W. Thank you in advance.
so if i buy a rebuildable tank and organic cotton and clapton wire i can rebuild the coil on the deck inside the tank and i can vape it on a eleaf istick pico 75 watt mod tc control mod? and is clapton wire used in wattage mode and temperature control mode or can it be used in both? and if wattage mode how many watts should i vape it on
It doesn't matter if it's a Clapton but rather what wire type(s) were used to make it. Kanthal is wattage only, ni80 wattage only, ni200 tc only, stainless steel can do both wattage and tc. Just make sure you select correct wire in your picos tc menu options.
yes, i use pico & pico mega often. it does TC. you can use all of the wire types (what it's made OF, as in kanthal, ss, titanium). clapton is a STYLE, & all of the wires can be built in that style. you just have to match your wire MATERIAL to the right mode. the mode does not care if it,s in clapton style, plain looped wire, etc., just what material it is made from. i think picos now go up to 80 or 100w or something with the firmware upgrade. i rarely go above 50, so i have never bothered.
the wattage depends on the resistance & what heat/flavor you want. plus clapton style can be all over the place since any gauge or material of wire can be made into that style, right? so a clapton coil can be 2 wires, 3, 3 + a ribbon wire like he mentioned here. they can be made of one metal, combinations, etc. then there's the # of wraps, etc. all of these factors contribute to the final resistance, which you check on one of those meters. so you see how no one can answer that until you have some information about the build, & it's resistance. even then, it's a range based on your preferences. so find a beginner blog or video & then buy that stuff & tools, & go from their example.
if you use super thick or dark liquids, it can last less time due to accumulation, but that could be cleaned. the longer lasting coils come from using temperature control & metals with higher tolerance. this is different than resistance, although they are related values). . watch pegasus vape academy's video on wire material comparisons, has "gimicky wires" in the title. clapton is a style, not a material, & other than the liquid type possibly gunking up in all the little crevices, has no bearing on longevity of the coil. tolerance of the metal material does.
any wire or coil, just check the resistance & make sure that is within the range advertised for your mod. it only cares about the resistance, but keep in mind, there are wires that you can ONLY vape in temperature control mode, so your mod needs to support TC if you select titanium, etc. the style of the coil is irrelevant if your resistance is in the supported range.
Hey im new to building coils and such after using a tank for the longest time, and all this is coil RDA things are new to me aha but i've been wondering if I were able to use just steel instead of stainless steel? would that be okay? would there be a problem if i used just steel to build? i cant find anything online been looking for the longest time and i just want to know if its safe....
try all the different wires and find what suits your needs thats how i found my favorite wires (Nichrome80 Nichrome90 & Stainless Steel are my favs) I stay away from kanthal I personally dont like the flavor kanthal gives but alot of people do. Nichrome90 taste amazing but SSL is best for temp control.
Try this Alien clapton wire. I ordered me 3 spools. It has good reviews and goes for 10.00 a pr on ebay. Why pay that when you can get 6ft of this and wrap your own. www.amazon.com/dp/B077S2ND4Q?ref_=pe_623860_70668690_dpLink
@@kittkatt032 Alien Claptons are not a type of material though it's more like style and not the actual material, so what material should the Alien clapton be made of to get the best flavor? and lastly, I still see terms like, Kernel 0.3 * 0.8 flat or sometimes parallel, what do those stand for?
It depends on your mod... if its a mechanical mod than yes its required to check the resistance but if youre using a normal regulated box mod. its not necessary since most chips can read your ohms and have safety features built in if anything bad happens. but on a Mech mod its a BIG OOOPSIE if you dont have an ohm meter
@@OTSCasper Thanks buddy for the advise. I'm using aeges legend mod. I was not sure if i should make it myself, i have ss wire but was worried if it may explode if not checked like this. Now i can try building my own coil.
Casper bro, newbie here, want to ask if i want to build coil, can all coil be use for all electrical mods? And also im using rda with electrical mod, is there anything i should worry about when building coil? Thanks bro
Ben Collins it is similar. However a misinformed opinion is that's where the name derived from "Eric Clapton" However, it's after a knot called the Clapton knot.
CasualFan .....no. Just no. There’s no such thing as a “Clapton knot”. That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Named after a knot called a Clapton knot. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i hope your kidding here is a little google info about solder fumes All solder fumes can cause occupational asthma and other health problems (leaded and lead-free) if used for long periods at a time. The best solder wire contains something called Rosin that helps the solder flow when hot. This causes asthma if you are over exposed and is irreversible. do not use solder for you vapeing wires.
I can't find any info about what wire SMOK uses in their coils. I have the Big baby and the baby beast and an Arctic that I use.... I am a noob and looking for info about the Nickel / stainless/ kanthal controversy that is swirling around, and it sems everyone has an opinion but no information on what were vaping on in factory made coils.. I only do wattage setting because i don't get the temp. control / wire setting thing. My alien keeps going back to wattage setting when i vape on temp. Control.
The SMOK coils aren't gonna work good on the TC mode? I kinda forget my question hahaha OK.. I am still doin wattage mode anyway but, that's good to know. thanks
wildbillo68--- i switched over to TC about 2 months ago, & wow; it;s truly worth it. super consistency & no dry hits or burning, ever; as that type of crazy heat that happens when your wick is dry won't be allowed by the mod. all you need to do is get the right setting, & there are tons of charts online to find a good range for mods where you can set your own TCR value, rather than the standard presets. it was wayyyyy better when i started doing that. start at the bottom end & increase it until you find the right TCR value. you just do that & set your max temperature, plus you can then adjust the wattage as well. once you have that set in the M1, M2, etc slots, you really never have to worry about it again, unless you significantly change your coils. my coils last soooooooo much longer & so does my liquid; plus better flavor. --- if your wire does not work with TC your mod will back it to wattage/power mode. i use ss316L. i have noticed some information about a few new mods that do TC for kanthal, but apparently that's rare as of now. definitely try it out!
Kanthal and stainless is the way to go. Heres some premade alien fused clapton with kanthal and stainless. Bought me 3 6ft spools since these are 10 a pr. U can wrap your own for way less. If you get hot spots, just space your coils. www.amazon.com/dp/B077S2ND4Q?ref_=pe_623860_70668690_dpLink

Is the skinnier the wire the less ohms so 26 would be lower resistance than 20???

no. 20 gauge wire would have a lower resistance than 26 gauge wire. do NOT listen to alpaca, you can google this. thinner wire has more resistance.

if you use super thick or dark liquids, it can last less time due to accumulation, but that could be cleaned. the longer lasting coils come from using temperature control & metals with higher tolerance. this is different than resistance, although they are related values). . watch pegasus vape academy's video on wire material comparisons, has "gimicky wires" in the title. clapton is a style, not a material, & other than the liquid type possibly gunking up in all the little crevices, has no bearing on longevity of the coil. tolerance of the metal material does.
What is the best wire for rta
Stainless steel ss316l 👍
hello everyone, I'm using mini rba plus. can I use Clapton coil (made with kanthal wire) with my Kbox MiniMod. Is it safe to use with my mod?
yes
any wire or coil, just check the resistance & make sure that is within the range advertised for your mod. it only cares about the resistance, but keep in mind, there are wires that you can ONLY vape in temperature control mode, so your mod needs to support TC if you select titanium, etc. the style of the coil is irrelevant if your resistance is in the supported range.
Never use just steel wire prone to rust and dont heat nicely for an rda hence why they dont use it in any way or form of vaping devices
What wire gives more flavour?
telephone wires bro.. they the shit!
try all the different wires and find what suits your needs thats how i found my favorite wires (Nichrome80 Nichrome90 & Stainless Steel are my favs) I stay away from kanthal I personally dont like the flavor kanthal gives but alot of people do. Nichrome90 taste amazing but SSL is best for temp control.
what is the best wire for flavour?
rizky aulia clapton wire
Try this Alien clapton wire. I ordered me 3 spools. It has good reviews and goes for 10.00 a pr on ebay. Why pay that when you can get 6ft of this and wrap your own.

I’m more confused. I’ve been vaping for years and know nothing about rebuildable. There’s all these wires and I have no idea what to get for what …….
thank this is very helpful
Nice video man keep up the good work
This video helped me. Thank you
what should I use for a 12v build
D.G.M.ANIA nothing. Why would you want a 12v build? Learn your battery safety please.
an automobile.
ss316L is my goto wire
^^
+1.
What build you use?
you would think if they work for big tobacco
walterbennetsen live:walterbennetsen --- they do. as do all our senators & congressmen.
i got 4 wires on my vape. is it good?
thaaats a nice video thanks!
THANKS FOR SHARING !!!!!!!!!!!
Pls someone tell me is it required to check the resistance of wire after building the coil?? Can i use it without doing so?
Thanks bro
Hey men good morning can you help me with something can u build a coil out of guitar spring and vape it
Give it a try and let us know if it works
Actually come to think of it maybe don't it might rust
I play guitar, I wouldent wanna “get the lead out” that way. Lol new stings turn my fingers grey
I wonder what would happen if I strung my guitar with vape wire
is that my avocado 24 tank?
Clapton is basically guitar string wire haha
Ben Collins it is similar.
However a misinformed opinion is that's where the name derived from "Eric Clapton"
However, it's after a knot called the Clapton knot.
CasualFan .....no. Just no. There’s no such thing as a “Clapton knot”. That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Named after a knot called a Clapton knot. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is solder okay for coil?
i hope your kidding here is a little google info about solder fumes
All solder fumes can cause occupational asthma and other health problems (leaded and lead-free) if used for long periods at a time. The best solder wire contains something called Rosin that helps the solder flow when hot. This causes asthma if you are over exposed and is irreversible. do not use solder for you vapeing wires.
Yea use that, crank it up to 200+ watts, take a huge hit, then count the seconds it takes you to hit the floor.
Yeah i was just asking i wasn't gonna do it
Great video I appreciate you!
Control.
Better in Wattage mode? ok Kool....that's actually better cause i find the whole temp control thing confusing hahhaa thanks!
wildbillo68 it won't function in tc mode.
The SMOK coils aren't gonna work good on the TC mode? I kinda forget my question hahaha
OK..
--- if your wire does not work with TC your mod will back it to wattage/power mode. i use ss316L. i have noticed some information about a few new mods that do TC for kanthal, but apparently that's rare as of now. definitely try it out!
wildbillo68 --- yeah, pretty much all standard or included coils are kanthal. you have to look for ss, etc, but they are all marked.
whats the difference between nichrome N20, N40, N60, N70, N80 & N90??
the amount of nickel in the wire
The Straight Vape correct. The number represents the percentage of nickel.
nickel sucks, btw.
Alien clapton with 3 inner core. Great coils...ohhh yea!
Im usless with this stuff got the rbat today smok cloud king for the smok mag kit an have no idea
Thank you
30 seems nice.
Thanks video helped me alot
with nichrome i can taste a metal taste😷
Yeah, that material is quite bad for your health. Change it to stainless steel.
Or kanthal
Kanthal and stainless is the way to go. Heres some premade alien fused clapton with kanthal and stainless. Bought me 3 6ft spools since these are 10 a pr. U can wrap your own for way less. If you get hot spots, just space your coils.

Kovadamt not in a subohm tank. The new vaporesso cascade coils are nickel chrome. Taste great
weird,I started with khantal, and after I try Ni80 I found all this time I taste "metal" from my khantal
Ni80 taste clean and have more flavour never even think to go back khantal ever, now I curious about SS I heard a lot good reputation about SS.
Which is the cheapest wite
Kanthal I think
It's not which is the cheapest it's which taste the best
Thanx mate!!!
Nice vid bro
Fused Clapton is not a type of metal
only in the US can higher number mean smaller
It came from Britain actually no later than 1735. Called the BWG, or the Birmingham wire gauge
It’s worldwide.....
No doesnt work men it melted the strings of
Still pretty confusing but helpful perhaps
Most of these are horrible for the lungs, except stainless steel right? Where can I find pre built stainless steel coils can I use? I’ve been looking for days
👀 my eyes on focus
Thanks handsome 😎
That's that poison coming off that titanium, yuck🤢🤢
