- flipside from All day and all night.
great unknown song from 1964.
Seen them in late 1965 with the Bintangs a Dutch group garage beat group from Beverwijk and the Golden Earring(s) at the VEB garage in Beverwijk Holland. - Видеоклипы
I wish I had lived through the 60 's...
This video is pure gold, gnarly bass from Pete, hilarious tune out from Ray (1:44 lmao), the dancers, lights, the camera angles and all the 60s TV weirdness. Love it
Ray proves he's not lip syncing!
Those dancing girls are going mental
The Kinks, when you hear hem are unmistakeably the Kinks - they have their own sound and vibe and unique identity as is the case with most remarkable bands like the Who, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Cream et al. Distinctive.
even when they use a session drummer. Like on this track.
Pete Quaite died this last week... the bassist.
He contributed so much to this early song and
many others.
Rock in Peace and Blessed Be Mr. Quaite.
1:44 Ray Davies owned that voice crack! 😂 He took it like a champ! 💪
Great Kinks groove on this song. Love the girls au-go-go dancing along! Awesome!!!
I wonder how many of those groovy go go dancers are still alive.
Always loved this - 12 string guitar? Kinks were the edgiest of the era, brilliant.
no 12 string - dave is playing a 6 string epiphone casino, and ray a telecaster
The instrumental backing track is from the record, only Ray’s main vocal and Dave and Pete’s backing vocals are live. So not sure what guitars are used on the track (I don’t hear a 12 string though).
nice slice of British blues.
Ray has the orignal punk sneer in 1965, long before Johnny Rotten!
Rotten always cited Ray Davies and the Kinks as one of his biggest influences.
a few days ago, i saw the 1964 and 1965's hits.... then I saw 2011 s(hits) ....
great bass playing
Early Kinks...soooo cool...A superb song, capturing the essence of r n r.
Tiny mini Pete guy..we fella's frightened by those insane dancers! Killer track
a good song to riot too.
Love that Rickenbacker
love the dancing girls!
Here is " I GOTTA MOVE " - and yet another original overlooked song from the under - rated KINKS - -
I'm glad to see this video back on the tube, someone else had it on here and it was removed.
The attitude, the style, the hipness....That`s what makes a band (not the sound or their abilities as musicians).
Well the sound, too (at least a bit)! C’Mon!
If you don't like this song you don't like music.
Ray still makes me laugh at 1:45.
Loved this song. Covered by the Tree Stumps in Cleveland back in the mid-60's while most bands were stuck on Motown. Can't wait to see Ray Davies coming to the area in March. Still going strong and creative.
Great classic - thanks
omg its the oompa loompa dance!!!!
Glad this is back.
The Yardbirds, with Eric Clapton, seems to have borrowed many motifs from this song in "Wish you Would."
La magnificence incarnée!!
'Gonna fill my gap n comb my hair'! Don't it mate, you're fine as you are. lol.
One of my favorites!
his guitar strap is really high
Their best song by far
Shindig had some wacky dancing but give them credit for avoiding lip-syncing.
Weird thing is that in the UK at the time, we didn't see anything like this album track, just the hit singles, if we were lucky.
jujugrill it was also the B side of the All Day and All of the Night single. I have it.
@@benwilliams6081 Never had that single, so good to know, thanks, tho I remember it well from that time, and thought it was on an EP or album - apparently not., so I must have heard it at a mate's house. I was really thinking of what passed for UK music radio at the time, which was dire!
jujugrill it was on the album as well; sorry if I misled you.
I have this single lol
I have left ear too
this is an unknown song? i know the guitar rif and believe me i never searched for more songs by the kinks then lola and you really got me now
It is the B side of All Day and All of the Night.
Great bass from Pete Quaife. (Sadly deceased 2010)
He never looked happy in the group. Things didn't go well for him after he left.
It's rare when a bass player looks happy!
@@389383 unless your Lemmy!
Love this track Ray x
@IngialV - yeah, same as they when do when the beatles or the stones are performing. i'm sure glad i wasn't there, stuck amongst them, they would have lost me my hearing! ha ha
gold! I swear Nigel Tufnel is based upon Dave Davies, ha ha
great......yeah .....
very very
hey guys......check out the chicks dancing ;-)
That's freaky
Hi there,
blame the Who for ''stealing'' the vocal line.
This one came out much earlier in the 60ies.
Regards.....
On which song??
Surrealistic, I think. I've noticed in all of Ray's vids that he just looks like the camera SUCKS when it is in his pretty face. Get over it, you were pretty and we had to see up close.
❤
Check out Thee Headcoatees version!
@beatlesfan16 Who doesn't !!!
Apparently the band had a fight before the set about something and the drummer didn't win.
If there was a fight,it was usually between the drummer Mick Avory and guitarist Dave Davies, they just couldn't get along, which is why Mick looks angry!
is it my headphones or is the audio only on one side
British groups usually recorded in 2 track mono and in some overseas countries recordings were "re channelled" to make them sound "stereo" when all it usually did is make them sound unbalanced(backing track on left ,vocal track on right)
if u put this song on, and the chick yr diggn it with doesnt dance, u simply must find another bird
I'm gonna fill my gap and cut my hair
ryantunks fill my gap and comb my hair*
Should have definitely been the A side!
very
21/5
Is this the footage Ray is watching in the Predictable video?
No, he's watching their lip-synching to Wonderboy on Top of the Pops
fill my gap and comb my hair???
After they had their first #1, with You Really Got Me, they became pop stars, and their managers told Ray he had to have his diastema (gap between front teeth) filled. Ray went so far as to be sitting in a dentist's chair, until at the last minute he thought "fuck this, it isn't worth changing myself to be a pop star!"
And they never combed their hair.
Fuck : mono sound.
Everybody else is more or less in sync with the backing track....Mick, Pete, and Dave look like they're making an effort, even the dancers are with the beat, but Ray is like one full syllable behind his vocal track, like he absolutely couldn't be bothered to give a F*CK at all. How very unprofessional.
