This board reminds me a lot of the new Keychron Q9 (40%). I'm not attracted to this particular model, but I do like 40% and the Preonic (50%) keyboards. I am not put off so much by the price as I am the needlessly oversized case. I have a DROP Planck, DROP Preonic and I have a YMDK Air40 delivering in the next few days. The YMDK Air40 has a sculpted, CNC anodized aluminum case. A few colors are available. It's QMK and VIA supported. I chose silver anodize and will be using DROP MT3 Dasher keycaps. It has an ortholinear layout. Total delivered price including everything except keycaps is $100. I'll most likely swap out switches and possibly stabilizers.
Oh yeah in the video they're not and I was like what is this dude talking about? He's on crack but must be talking about like the thumbnail or something?
I've owned around 15 40% and smaller keyboards. A bunch were group buy boards, a bunch more were pretty typical in-stock boards like the BM40, BM43, Planck, etc. I've sold a few, bought a few, but generally kept my collection around 10 boards. With all that said, this board looks genuinely fantastic and I might have to pick one of these up. The boxy look is super nice and pretty different from a lot of the other boards I've owned in the past. I don't care too much for arrows on the base layer, but the layout certainly lends itself doing whatever you want, really. Thank you for the video, and I'll use your link when it's time for me to pick one up.
Yeah I'm not even getting. This is like one of the best videos we've watched here at the HQ. We watched hundreds of videos this week alone too. I haven't seen very many of these videos, but this is one of the best videos I've ever seen, all things considered
“I’m not gonna call myself an enthusiast, I feel like I’d have a big head if I did.” 💀 Anywaysss, this board is definitely aesthetically pleasing, but is also something I personally wouldn’t purchase. I do find the dark violet/blueish color to be very pretty, especially with the keycaps on. As for the first sound test it was really just a very light clackish sound that wasn’t bad, but could definitely be improved. The tape you placed afterwards really did help though as the clack became deeper rather than remaining as light as it was before. Pretty solid video, keep it up CG 🤟
I've been using this 1.9% keyboard: its a function key and one other blank key that is all other keys. I mean, theres no reason for this keyboard, and I lose it really easily if I move it on my desk, but it looks really good....
Are 40% keyboards not viable at all or daily normal use? I current rock a 65% and I'm really comfortable with that layout, because I generally never use anything apart from the alphas, mods, and num row, I genuinely have considered trying a 40% board
They're definitely usable. They take a little bit of tweaking to get exactly just right for you, but that's part of the fun. I use a 60% right now, but basically don't use my number row at all unless I'm gaming. It really isn't that hard to adjust to it though, because with layers you put everything exactly where YOU want it to go.
That’s real ignorant to say honestly.. $300 could help alot of people that don’t have that money.. especially when spending it on a keyboard.. just because it may not be alot to one person.. to another it could be how they can make it to the next pay check..

wait your mad the 40% board is too big...?
imma say it for the adhd/nitpickers relief: the S and D are in the wrong place lol
That’s more reason to click the video 😜 plus it’s not like that in the actual video tho 😂

@@slimshady8408 yeah it’s the thumbnail
I actually didn't notice that

Your content is top tier
I appreciate that!!

Gosh that is a beautiful board, I’ve always wanted a %40 board after I found out I missed out on the group buy for the Cajal, envy everyone who has it
such a cute board
Great video dude!
40% + plastic construction + narrow bevels + Bluetooth = perfect portable mechanical keyboard. Which is why no one makes it.
40% is cool I have the drop planck. Very hard to get used to but I love it. I wish this was hot swap
Same.. but all good
You can use Mill-Max sockets to convert solder only PCBs to hot-swap, but there might be some compatibility issues if you use them.

Thanks for the kind words man!
Can you make a video on how you record videos? Or like what gear you use?
I think I’m going to have a brain Aneurysm when you build with the Ice Grapes lol
It’s being ship rn and will be here Thursday.. so some time after that the video will be out 😂
@@AustinPegoda my body is ready!
@@AustinPegoda make sure to lube them, they’re “slightly” lubed from the factory.
Great video! What is that deskmat?
Ah thanks man! It’s from novelkeys.

Nice video, Where can I get that mousepad?
are you gonna do a vid on the keychron v1? cool vid btw
Which is better Feker Ik75 vs Akko PC75B?
I've been using only my 40% keyboard for over a year

“Size doesn’t matter”
What is the best 75% keyboard right now?
I can use a 40% but only if it has the full alpha set along with the [];',./ keys. I think it's absolutely unusable if it's just alphas.
Enthusiast detected!
smol
This might be the most enthuasist keyboard of them all... what the... looks good, but in the end unusable, right
I wanted a 40% board for so long but for some reason they are ALWAYS solder and its so annoying
There's the ID42 Abacus thats hot swap
Still think the Keychron Q9 (40%) is a better value than this
Dam
I want to find a 40% that have the '[', ']' and '\' keys, does that board even exist =[
It honestly sounds hollow
is this good for gaming (dumb qus)
I’m trading my portal and PayPal for a cajal. I really hope I like the layout since this is my first 40% lol
You will! It just takes a it to get use to lol
7th babyyy
Second
You missed the most important part which is how does one type anything other than letters on this thing??
Just it function.. or use via to set it to how you want
Bro, it's not even 300 f****** measly dollars That s*** is cheap as f***
