@@mitchellstafiej7385 True, but their point still stands. With those additions, along with Dobes, and the subtraction of Barron, they are a much more complete team Add on the health of the team. This December was the first time MSL was able to coach a completely healthy lineup
Something on Zach Werenski that I feel needs to be mentioned here: Zach has a 15 game home point streak right now, with a ridiculous points tally of 9-21-30 and a +17 through said 15 home games. That is also the longest home point streak by an NHL defenseman since Ray Borque put up a 17 game point streak in 1992-93. Astonishingly, his numbers on the road (19 games) are 3-7-10 as a -12. Imagine how much more incredible the Jackets story could become if he can start producing anywhere near a point per game on the road.
But he’s still a clown for being part of a group that tried to get Laine and the goalie off the team. Worst teammates ever. And then acting all pissed that he and his teammates were good to him. 😂
They should be able to bounce back after the road trip ends. The rest of their schedule is one of the easiest in the league. Could be two of these teams in wild card spots. I say that Tampa passes Boston and the Bruins join this wild card race. Would be amazing if Ottawa and Montreal took both.
Pittsburgh, Boston and Tampa will start fading in the 2nd half of the season. They will have to avoid any injuries to any of their stars to hold their spots in the playoff. What will be interesting is how few points will be needed to make the playoffs.
And the Sabres, despite being at the bottom, just beat Washington of all teams last night, and UPL has had some good showings lately (I'd know, I have him in fantasy). And only 8 points back. If they get hot, it's possible for them, too. This is the way the NHL should be. Nobody's completely out of it before the All-Star Break.
I'm not surprised at all. We lost the most games by 1 goal last year and we got Laine during the offseason who can score 40. Before his injury, him alone would've made us win a lot more games and he's not the only improvement this year. Hutson is being dominant on his first season, Carrier is a solid defenseman, our fourth line is the best in the league and now we have 2 solid goalies. If our 2nd line finally turned around and can play at the level we expected from them we're already competitive with the lineup we have right now. Next year Demigod will be in that lineup and we have more prospects who are likely to make the jump to the big league at some point or another. The rebuild is ALMOST over thanks to some stellar management and scouting. Now the big test we have is coaching. St-Louis gotta make sure these guys stick together, know what their job is and reach their full potential so we don't miss our window of opportunity in the next few years.
