@@ethansnyder3401 yup. It’s the assumption the “other side” is thinking the same way you are, and that’s their rationale for going way too far. Huge problem these days on a number of things
I think psychologically they're incapable of accepting criticism regarding token black actors, and so they have no option other than to call it racist. It's a valid criticism, and they don't want to believe that.
Projection or just simply deflection, attempting to tarnish critics of it by classing them as racist or misogynistic is outrageous and a new low for a show that has badly failed A) The true storyline and B) the genuine fans….what an insult, they won’t be getting many Christmas cards for this bs 😖
I hope 2nd Season begins with Celeborn waking up and saying to Galadriel: "Dear, I just had the most absurd nightmare and you were in it. You behaved horribly, killed ice trolls, survived a pyroclastic flow and tried to swim across an ocean, while everybody was stupid and did unexplainable things. And some silly sh*t about mithril."
They are trying to bring politics into it. Without coming right out and saying it, Conservatives are doing this because there is a black elf, or that there is an empowered woman. No one cares about that, and a woman can be "empowered" (is there a ring for that?) without being a 4'8" angry-all-the-time Guyladrial Mica-Tyson.
"What the fuck is this shit. You assholes have fucked up middleearth and my creation you douchbag fucking mother fuckers" - Tokien if he were here today, probably
The contrast between Peter Jackson (who was extremely respectful and reverential) and Payne and McKay (who don't give a shit) just makes Rings of Power look even worse.
They have Trumpian levels of self awareness. Which is to say total delusion. Trumpian levels of fidelity too; claiming to respect The Books the Books the Books the way Cheeto Jesus respected his then wives. Say something against them and you are an enemy to be shouted and shut down.
If they make something good, their fans will defend them from the toxicity, yet they decided to throw trash at them and gets angry when they throw it back at them
It 'could' be hard for a team who wrestled with how best to approach a massive opportunity and felt a need to live up to the classic source material, but it's just so damn blunt and lazy and objectionable, I don't sense they even bothered to challenge themselves.
@@RupertMDoc i was kidding 😉 it's like the airplane company-joke. How do a person become a millionaire. He's a billionaire and start up an airplane company
It’s important to remember that a lot of hardcore fans who grew up on the books for decades (like myself) had some SERIOUS problems with the movies, especially Jackson’s butchering of several key moments and plot lines. However, it was clear he put a lot of love into the project and tried to stay pretty faithful to the books. So we were able to look past some of the worst parts because it was overall a good project. But we all knew exactly what would happen once Amazon got ahold of this. We all knew.
Also, the Jackson movies (even the Hobbit ones) were entertaining. I tried to give Rings of Power a chance. It just wasn't entertaining. I can forgive a lot of "ruining the lore" if a show is fun to watch.
I give Jackson a pass for a couple of reasons. First, some of the things he removed would’ve been hard to put on screen (Tom Bombadil for example). Second, while he made some changes, he did not change the essence of what Lord of the Rings was. Some things he moved. The death of Saruman in Two Towers worked well for a movie adaptation as opposed to the end of return of the king in the books. Changing how Aragorn was presented with Anduril to rotk in the movies I thought was nicely done (he received it in fellowship of the ring in the books). And if I may be so bold…I actually like what Jackson did with Aragorn’s character in the movies. He was a great character in the books, but amazing in the movies. JMO.
@@jamesp8164 Exactly. I understand the shift from Tolkien’s work to the medium of film. The books are unfilmable as such. Peter, Fran and Phillipa crafted that work with love, care and utter respect for the source material. Nothing can ever touch the books and they knew it.
i didn't grew up with it( i read the books with 12 1 year before the first movie was released but even this was also my opinion. For me it is and will ever be an interpretation. A good one when it comes to sieges and fights a medicore one for the rest

To be fair, there is an argument to be made that your product is genuinely good, but that it isnt being sold to the right audience, or the right audience doesnt have access to it. This argument is easily demolished by the fact that it is a Tolkien product, seemingly being made for Tolkien fans, but with only the liberals in mind who didnt really follow any relevant story. Thats like, 5% of the total Tolkien fanbase at best, and they expect the 95% to be happy with that?
@@Predated2 That's a very good point. They greatly overestimated the size of the audience who might even possibly like it, who'd be gleeful at the RepResEnTAtioN, de-whitening and de-manning of the author's original vision and uncritical of anything else they did to it. In short, they assumed they'd reach millions of activist hacks like themselves... and that bubble's not there.
@@psier11 except GoT actually didn't have that issue. The issue with GoT was that they made Daenarys too mentally stable during the entire show only for her to flip in 2 episodes. They also had some moments where they simply wanted to disprove theorists(like Arya killing the Night King or Bran taking place on the iron throne). It's at least a fixable story: Give Daenarys a few flashback moments on her childhood, where bells rang as she was forced to flee. Then have some bells ring during her loss of Drogo, and you can easily cause the bells ringing for surrender in season 8 be the trigger of stacked up trauma by flashing back to those moments. GoT, even with season 8, didn't pander to any specific audience inside the GoT fandom. They literally tried giving the best story they thought would be good for GoT fans in general. They failed miserably, but that's more due to their status in the creative process and thinking sudden twists for the sake of having twists is interesting. I never thought I would be defending the GoT doofuses, but they deserve infinitely more respect than what Rings of Power is doing. And that is already considering how much respect D&D have lost by making season 8 the way it is.
@@videowilliams Saying the problem with the series is the fact that they "de-whitened" characters is exactly the type of people Amazon is calling evil. The problem with the series has nothing to do with strong female characters or characters of color. If you think that's the reason why its bad then you missed the whole point.
You are a better man than I sir. I have felt nothing but anger, but like, 5 different versions of it. For 1. Angry that Amazon was making this, as I knew it would turn out to be an Amazon Basics LOTR. Then transformed into anger at the script writing, then actors attacking fans, then then then. This show is a non stop anger train.
I read a ton of 1 star reviews on Amazon and NONE - NOT ONE - even mentioned skin color or broached the subject of race, etc. ALL of them were about story, lore mistakes, dialog, etc.

I've read some of the fan reviews on rotten tomatoes and although some were balanced, there were more than a few shitting on it for the sake of it, there were certainly more than a few that panned it because they had the "audacity" to have cast diversity. As far as I am concerned, there were certainly liberties taken by the show runners with what happened within the show, but more of those went with the themeatics of the show than didn't. Then again I am a casual viewer of the show and took it far more at face value than a number of die-hard fans would.
@@mikes78 that’s the point. Forced “diversity” where it didn’t belong… making everything about race and sex and dividing people based on the same while screeching about “inclusion.” People are tired of the political and mental minorities ruining popular culture franchises (star wars anyone) and wrecking the fans under the guise of “fighting for justice.” Hell, the writers gloated about this stuff. It was an affront to all the fans. The fans reacted appropriately.
Ya, how is giving a bad review considered to be invalid? Nobody is writing a bad review on a project they like just because they don't like people making the movie. It's such a bullshit excuse and cop out. Hollywood is like a steaming pile of crap, it was once a juicy steak, but after being consumed, broke down, stripped of all nutrients, then finally excreted through some fat butt cheeks, it needs to be flushed down the toilet hopefully without causing anymore trouble on the way down.
That's what I'm saying, even if a show is having trolls write reviews, the idea that EVERY single review can somehow be review bombing is absurd, if something is getting bad reviews it deserves it.
@@pressb because their entire side's strategy is accuse others of what you're doing. The 5/5 media shilling is far more common than 1/5 review bombing.
I'm not a big Star Wars fan. I like the movies, I love the Clone Wars (many people hate it.. why?) and I know a little about the world. But I was so angry when I saw the sequels. It was full of plot holes, Karens and it broke the lore multiple times. So sad.. I really hope the whole Star Wars franchises fails and they stop making up new films and series. Just let the people enjoy what was already there.
@@ChildOfTheFlower also, I think the LotR fandom is much older, on average. So lots of SW young fans keeping the franchise alive because their parents take them to the movies and buy them the toys (even if a lot of those parents are disappointed fans).

For who of the living has descended into the pits of Utumno, or has explored the darkness of the counsels of Melkor? Yet it is held true by the wise of Eressëa, that all those of the Quendi who came into the hands of Melkor, ere Utumno was broken, were put there in prison, and by slow arts of cruelty were corrupted and enslaved; and thus Melkor breed the hideous race of the Orcs in envy and mockery of the Elves."
The sheer hubris of the show's runners stating that "we saw it all coming, there were no surprises" while willingly chosing not to avoid the problems they'd face once this travesti was released is exactly the reason this show is performing the way it is.
True, it's the laziest strategy you could imagine. Good way for them to get big pay cheques till the roof fell in on them after releasing a gilded hack job on the world.
Right? Can you imagine if the creators of the Sonic live-actions did this instead of changing the model when they received backlash? We would still have that creepy human-toothed abomination they originally designed
It is performing great. 260K reviews on IMDB, against 205K for House of Dragons. It is a major success for Amazon Prime, it draws millions of people to the platform. If you look at the episode rating, by the end the ratings were around 8.5 from 10. The reviewer bombers neglected to review the later episodes, which betrayed their manipulation...
@@pureffm But House of Dragons has a lot more GOOD reviews. Nor did that programme need reviews to be shut down for several days at the beginning, nor did it need a campaign to whine that it's under attack. Your "review bombers" = thousands of unhappy Tolkien fans explaining why this show is worse than bad, it's an insult. Of course disgusted fans stopped watching later episodes and/or got censored which a showrunner admitted had been done. So when you say "their manipulation" you mean Amazon's.
@@videowilliams no, removing manipulative review bombing done by bots is called rectification. Objectively there is nothing wrong with the show except if you are a nerdy LOTR lore fanatic, that's usually the exact kind of crowd who is into coding and bot scripting...Many of the videos that criticize the show are very childish. I have seen unrealistic Woke shows before and RoP is not that. There are enough likeable male characters, including Elrond. Even Sauron is portrayed in a nuanced way. I did not see any LGBTQ invasion, only one of the strangers looked non binary and there is one or 2 heroic black characters, certainly no more than in the US population. Personally as long as Wokeness doesn't purposely destroy male characters and makes them artificially, wimpery and insecure like Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, as long as the psychology of the characters is believable I am not offended. For example in Star Wars Rei was a Mary sue that never had any trouble or doubts. Galadriel on the other hand is conflicted and was deceived by Sauron, she is very conflicted. So I don't see the issue with the show.
The first warning sign and easily the biggest red flag for this show was Amazon waiting until Christopher Tolkien died to actually get started so that he couldn't veto their terrible decisions. The second biggest was firing Tom Shippey.
The third biggest flag was that they were trying to make a Tolkien-version of game of thrones. Tolkien is so much more original, and they wanted to take THAT and make a clone of a show that went from great to worst, that was made to be the antithesis of Tolkien. Just think about that… They were going to make Tolkien’s works mimic the show based on the books that are made specifically to be unlike Tolkien…
I didn't even know he died. He did a great job publishing The Silmarillion and other books after his dad passed away. Shame on Amazon! Jeff Bezos is a psycho! No wonder his wife divorced him.
@-MR-PoPo- Doesn’t matter which one you prefer, the point is that if you try to make something into its opposite, all you end up with is something that is neither. If you like Asoiaf better, fine, but you probably wouldn’t think it was so great if someone was going to make asoiaf into LotR. Suddenly, main characters don’t die, Tyrion starts digging for gold, doesn’t murder his family and whores aren’t a thing. Nobody swears, people are honourable, women aren’t raped and beaten by lords and soldiers alike. What’s left of asoiaf if it was like LotR? What’s left of LotR if it was like asoiaf?
I work in public relations and seeing their reaction I was shocked and horrified. If you create something for public consumption you have to expect not everyone to like it. As such you need to deal with criticism in a tactful and respectful manner…yeah they took a bad situation and made it exponentially worse
Honestly it seems like you just tell everyone to say something along the lines of we all worked really hard on this and are sorry that many people have been disappointed but we think that as time goes on people who stick with it will ultimately enjoy the franchise. Then a quick word about how much you appreciate and are glad for the people who have enjoyed the show.
It's deliberate 'cultural defilement', by a new breed of leftist/marxists who think this is 'progress'. Yuri Bezmenov warned us that the left will rot the country from the inside via demoralization and subversion, especially targeting youth. Star Wars has been defiled. Star Trek has been defiled. Now LotR has been defiled. This is deliberate enemy action, and if we don't wake up to it, we are doomed. It's known as '5th generation warfare'. Just look at the politics of EVERY ONE of these creepy showrunners and writers. Is that all supposed to be a coincidence??
I have said it before and I say it again. If their show is as great as they claim. Where are all the millions of fans who love it? Why are these millions of fans silent? Where are the millions of reviews shouting the praises of the show? Surely all the cheering fans would completely crush the Evil Trolls who are "clearly lying" when they say the show sucks! Seems to me that even with Amazon blocking and deleting all the negative voices they can hide. The Negative reviews still far outnumber the positive reviews. How can Amazon explain that away?
Don't forget the writers who's only real life lesson was being triggered into coma by the sight of an "offensively shaped eclair" on the pastry cart at the cafeteria next to the gender studies building where they've spent their entire adult lives.
Well, I traveled on business to LA recently, and I saw many thousands of avid fans camped out on the sidewalks for the premier of this series. Then again ... maybe they were just homeless people.
Idk If you read the headline, with the word "trolling" i believe they are likely referring to the individuals sending racist stuff to cast members thinking they are doing "good"
Right. They could be sitting at home genuinely confused, "We made this GREAT show and people are posting bad reviews, what gives?" Sends a shiver down your spine that such people are in charge of creating entertainment.
I’d bet money they are completely shocked by the fan backlash about how terrible their series is. They’re shocked because Hollywood lives in a leftoid bubble where none of their ideas are challenged by outside opinions so when reality hits, it hits hard.
They dont really care they are warped ideologues. The Internationalists have controlled American media for almost a century and have converted enough soft brains into their cult. Everything is backwards. The violent and wicked are portrayed as victims

It's so sad. My husband and I have a couple of friends that reacted about the same when we said we didn't like the show. They literally refused to hear our opinions on it. What they did listen to, they refuted with lame excuses. Guess the writers have at least a few dedicated fans.
Make them ex friends asap. It’s not about difference of opinion on aesthetics it’s about toxic subservience to a divisive ideology. These people will throw you under the bus inevitably, whether it takes a year or a decade. If you are not part of their immediate circle you won’t be in their sights
This show is so far removed from the magic that Tolkien created with LOTR and Jackson's movie trilogy, (which I re-read and re-watched recently), that this recent abomination hasn't damaged the brand, it has simply shown why Tolkien and Jackson will be honored, admired and remembered as masters of their art.
Well said, at least PJ's adaptation was a fantastic piece of cinema that'll be remembered for decades. Rings of Power seems to be a total perversion of the lore, with too much woke politics. Lately hollywood is allowing the opinion to spread that there has never been a black/asian person in cinema before? Denzel Washington, Sam L Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Will Smith, Don Cheadle, Whoopi Goldberg, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Tony Jaa, etc.. nope, who are they? pisses me off.
What really makes me mad is that the show runners claim to love the books. But the story they have presented us with has proved beyond a doubt that they don't understand Tolkien at all - they care much more about current-day politics and telling their own far-inferior story

Minor rebuttal: for shows like Game of Thrones, it is easy to write politically competent and dangerous women because Georgie's works in soiaf is basically remixing actual history and there are many accounts of women to draw from. Lord of the rings is a bit difficult, granted, since women are indeed written in an archaic and mythological sense. Only someone like Tolkien could write women in such way in a convincing fashion. I think we can bash woke nepo-hollywood all year but the fact of the matter remains... it is wholly idiotic to expand Tolkien's universe any further unless you can make a perfect clone of the man.

That's probably what will happen years from now because that's wikipedia's weakness. The Tolkien fans have no official publications (books, official publications, journal articles) as the corporations, contractor companies, and media figures such as the showrunners who have access to reporters that publish reviews that are all quotable for wikipedia.

The difference between how peter jackson changed things and how amazon did it: Jackson: he had to compress the content of thousands of pages in these movies while making them 1: visually impressive 2: engaging 3: entetaining 4: epic All the while respecting the original story, and he did so, the basics of the story are all there and its pretty respectful of the original, while not being 1:1. Amazon just took names and thats it. None of the events have any reason nor rhyme to happen because they JUST DONT HAPPEN in the story and actually fuin the characters themselves.
I think the showrunners were in over their heads and they realized it halfway through production. Anyone with eyes and ears can easily find the blatant contradictions, lack of creative or deep writing, and the almost first -draft feel to the whole season so far. The biggest problem withthe show is that Amazon wanted to create the next Game of Thrones hype but in a Disney friendly atmosphere and those two are so far across the spectrum of each other that it just can't be done.
Got to love how even that is disrespectful to Tolkien's memory. Tolkien would not have liked Game of Thrones, far too cynical and vulgar for his worldview. Tolkien understood there was darkness in the world, and the Silmarillion includes a history of war, murder and even incest. But Tolkien never felt the need to dwell on such evils, he included them in his world but never obsessed over them. For instance, it's told that the Uruks were created by breeding orcs with men. Tolkien leaves it at that, because with a little thought you realise how horrifying the implications are. If LoTR was written by George R Martin we'd have had a whole chapter describing the rape pits of Isengard. Tolkien wasn't about that.
I find it incredibly racist that companies are using their “diverse” cast as an excuse to be allowed to make bad movies and shows without any backlash.

What is misunderstood by today's prism is that Tolkien's work is so much more valuable than mere fiction. I grew up with his books, it shaped the childhood and early adulthood of me and my friends, inspired me to spend 10 years of learning historical fencing, horse riding, archery and so much more, dare I say inspired through heroic stories to cling to goodness and honesty in a cruel world around us. That makes it powerful and that is why, in my opinion, we won`t let it get vandalized.
I in all humility, consider myself a well educated Tolkien fan who is well versed in the lore. I have read the LotR trilogy, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion dozens of times. Hah! Can you imagine? Amazon calling people "patently evil!!" Isn't that the height of irony. I wonder what terminology they use to describe their labor practices. If you live anywhere they have a major distribution center you'll understand.
The funniest part is that Adar didn’t even need the evil Sauron sword in the first place, he could have just destroyed the dam and many orcs lives, that he considers as his children, would have been saved.
It would probably have been far less labour to just build a water tower and pump or even haul water into it then to dig a miles-long trench that can make water magickally flow uphill.
@@notKevinFeige You would think that if they were able to build a so precise channel to bring water to the magma chamber of Mount Doom then building a simple water tower would be no problem and surely more safe and efficient to fight resisting villagers with your little number of orcs.

You and me too! Tolkien (The Hobbit) was the first real love for reading books in my life. That was back in 1983. The effort Mr J.R.R. Tolkien put into his world building is next to none. A master of his craft to say the least.
Considering the showrunners have made what was supposed to be the good guys evil, and made the bad guys understandable and empathetic, I'll take them calling ME evil as quite the compliment! 😉
galadriel is actually a sort of anti-hero, female saruman type, before the 3rd age, wanting power more than long life...they arent making her look crazy enough, imo
The takeaway from this article is that narcissists are never wrong. Someone else is to blame. And they blab on & on & on about who all is to blame. Ugh!
"Everything the fans have debated... they likewisw argued among the creative team." I'd love to hear the winning arguments for the man boob armor, the sun rising in the west, and all the cringe dialogue.
Can you clarify this sun rising in the west comment? I'm not watching the show on principal but it is true in that the first time the Sun rose in Middle Earth it did in fact rise in the west. This was only at the very start of the first age however and the sun would rise in the east forever afterwards.
They definitely didn’t discuss it. I don’t think they even had anyone read the script. Otherwise we wouldn’t have so many contradictions and poor dialogue. Galadriel: “Come at me.” Durin: “Give it to me raw.” ------ Galadriel: I’m doing this to avenge my brother! 10 seconds later… Galadriel: I’m not doing this for revenge! ------ Durin: Don’t tell anyone about mithril. 10 seconds later… Elrond: So, I told everyone about Mithril. Durin: It’s all good bro. Etc, etc, etc.
So far I have been censored twice by Amazon. The first time, this review was rejected with the reference to the community rules against which, according to the listed points, I have not violated. My comments were only about the lore, the costumes, the suspense and that the dialogue is bad, but the CGI is quite good and the music and landscapes and the dwarves are okay. 0.5% Tolkien in total. The second review could be read online for a week or two, with lots of likes. Now it's disappeared from my profile, but I can't create a new one either, because I would have one online. That's called censorship! Why do I have to comment positively on something whose quality I do not like.
Definitely miss those days. The clip at the beginning was so nostalgic. And shows how the fandom used to be. If this show had been made with the love and care that the former was then it would have been an unimaginable hit. But, to no avail.
If it had been made by a flatulant drunk... it still wouldn't have reeked this badly of unmitigated arrogance teamed with incompetence. Cool, refreshing proclastic flows? Swimming hudreds of miles of sea? Climbing sheer cliffs in full plate (no mithril yet... don't even go there). "Good" people ceaselessly leaving people to die. Armies running around the continent and landing smack dab into a battle JUST in time. Idiots who walk hundreds of miles hauling a ton of stone by hand without benefit of an.... um... CART?
I canceled my Prime account prior to this coming out because of a lot of the news I heard about this show. My deliveries take longer and/or I have to shop on different sites but I'm voting with my money. That's all that Amazon respects.
Yeah, they wanted to milk this show for marketing Amazon but I'll bet a lot of boxes with this crap printed on them will be in the returned items pile.
By making the accusation a moral one, they reveal that they are not addressing the criticism in no uncertain terms. The use of an Ad Hominem attack in rhetorical defense is an admission of failure...
They blatantly cast a racially diverse cast simply to have that backstop defence to shoot down any critique of their shoddy work. It's become a standard defence of talentless hacks.
I really, really hope this show will be cancelled after one season. I just don’t see how they can come back from this. The movies are so well beloved and brought people together; it’s a story of uniting despite your differences and help good win over evil. All this series does is create more division and hatred. Funny how telling people what to think “or else” doesn’t have the same effect as inspiring people with a heartfelt story. They’re ironically creating the very thing they claim to be fighting.
Er, that's because they want to create division and hatred, i think that's their gameplan. They're doing it on purpose, because entertainment is the most effective propaganda platform for normies to be brainwashed with. You may hate it, but i've seen enough idiots with BLM and Rainbow signs to know that its actually working.
Unless they're getting 15-20m paying subscriber views (not total views) all the way to the finale, they're taking a loss on it. If they double down on that, it's financial suicide.
I would rather watch the extended edition of The Hobbit back-to-back TWICE with only a couple of empty water bottles for potty breaks than expose my already charred soul to this Amazon shitshow.
Man these people are scary by how far they will manipulate the truth to fit their world view by calling people evil for not liking garbage. That is what I would call evil.
What still bugs me the most about the girlbossing of guyladrielle was that they could have just as easily made her a Circe Lannister clone and that would have been a closer match to her actual character. She was a magic user and a politician not xena warrior princess.
She's not a magic user either. She possesses power which means she's more spiritual. Which is probably Tolkien's creative take on Angels as there are many similarities between biblical angels and his elves in the book.

I can't get over how the script writers just admitted to nepotism getting them the jobs to ruin the show's script. Just woah, it's like they don't think before they speak, and have no self-awareness to realize it.
It's also because they don't care. They're getting paid millions after getting the job by sucking up to the 'right' Hollywood activists. The show is just a box-ticking exercise to them.
Now that we know Galadriel's scowl equal to the fires of Mt Doom, Amazon can go ahead and remake LOTR with a new ending where she saves world by slamming her face into the One Ring so hard that they both explode. Tolkien would be proud. The End.
We saw it coming early when they rolled out their cringey marketing. First it was salon style hair and phoney super fans, then it was hatred for LOTR fans and sympathy for the orcs.
The story they SHOULD have told would have been that of the two Blue Wizards and their journeys east to thwart Sauron's efforts to raise forces there and bring them against the Men of the West. Complete blank slate territory and even Tolkien admits (in one of his letters I think) that that's likely what the Blue Wizards were doing and why we never saw them.

I feel bad for the guy Ismael who plays the elf because the writing and direction is so bad that he's not got the slightest chance of being able to prove his doubters wrong. They did him dirty at Amazon.
Christopher Tolkien lived long enough to complain about the movies eviscerating the books. But he died before he got a chance to see what evisceration really is.
@@JohnSmith-es3dn You can Google up the interview; I recall him specifically complaining about "action for young adults" and the ostensible diminishment of the philosophical core of the work. But I don't really care that he said that. He was old. Most people who loved the source material liked the movies, and they could feel the essence of the work through those films. There were some silly parts that we all acknowledged, but ultimately there was a lot of love that went into that project. It was made by people who got it, for people who got it, regardless of all the details. The kind of art we've been seeing lately, however... now that is evisceration. It is like aliens trying to make something that humans will enjoy, all while injecting some messaging about the value of aliens colonizing earth. It works on the superficially minded, but it's deeply soulless, and nobody who was involved has actually felt any of the emotions that they're hoping to stir up in the audience.

I love how their still trying to ignore the increasing number of female, black, and gay critics saying how these shows are becoming more and more of an insult and how franchise and lore has to be torn up to do it. Past a certain point it just wont work.
It's incredibly insulting to women and people of color to think that shoehorning them into stereotypical traits and positions with hollow character writing, is all that it takes. Imagine that the people who supposedly say they're supporting you, are doing so by destroying others. It's like Hitler wanting to make the world a better place at the cost of killing all Jews.
JMO.
I think if Peter Jackson made his movies in the form of a long series, he could have featured more of what is in the books but what he did is amazing
@@jamesp8164 Exactly. I understand the shift from Tolkien’s work to the medium of film. The books are unfilmable as such. Peter, Fran and Phillipa crafted that work with love, care and utter respect for the source material. Nothing can ever touch the books and they knew it.

It's at least a fixable story:
Give Daenarys a few flashback moments on her childhood, where bells rang as she was forced to flee.

It’s considered ‘review bombing’ when fans honestly review something, but totally fine when ‘professional critics’ spam positive reviews… got it 👍
I've read some of the fan reviews on rotten tomatoes and although some were balanced, there were more than a few shitting on it for the sake of it, there were certainly more than a few that panned it because they had the "audacity" to have cast diversity.

I agree. These showrunners and writers intentionally destroyed tolkiens work, they are the evil.

Galadriel: I’m doing this to avenge my brother!
10 seconds later…
Galadriel: I’m not doing this for revenge!

Durin: Don’t tell anyone about mithril.
10 seconds later…
Elrond: So, I told everyone about Mithril.
Durin: It’s all good bro.
Etc, etc, etc.
@@nickcalderon2637 That's good... at this point I'd be dissapointed if Amazon managed to get such a random little fact about Middle Earth correct.
I feel like putting up a review stating that I love the Rings of Power. It's great the way RUclipsrs rip it apart.😈
The fact that there’s a million memes on House of Dragons vs like none for rings of power should tell you something all by itself lol
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil" truly applies here
“Ye shall know them by their fruits”
I'm getting strong Jesus encountering the Pharisees vibes
Idiots who walk hundreds of miles hauling a ton of stone by hand without benefit of an.... um... CART?
5:14 Professional whining. Followed by Gary's reply:
"Oh, I'm sorry. Is making pretend, with unlimited resources, hard for you?"
LMAO! Gary, you rock!
Isn't it funny how not liking something makes you "evil" and a "troll" when it goes against the mainstream's wishes...
Good amazon has gotten too big anyway and no one really needs next day delivery most of the time.
JJ Abrams: destroyer of franchises.
When he’s done, Hollywood will be a smoking hole in the ground
By making the accusation a moral one, they reveal that they are not addressing the criticism in no uncertain terms. The use of an Ad Hominem attack in rhetorical defense is an admission of failure...
They blatantly cast a racially diverse cast simply to have that backstop defence to shoot down any critique of their shoddy work.
It's become a standard defence of talentless hacks.
I remember a time when if you made a piece of garbage, it would be your responsibility.
Accountability is kryptonite for these people. One of the signs of a stupid person is to think they are right on everything and that they know it all.
The way Bezo's eyelids pop up and reveal the upper whites of his eyeballs reminds me of evil bond villains, all of whom were Psychotic.
Imagine him putting his pinky up to the corner of his mouth with an evil smile
Watching critiques like these is more amusing than the amazon show itself
I really, really hope this show will be cancelled after one season. I just don’t see how they can come back from this. The movies are so well beloved and brought people together; it’s a story of uniting despite your differences and help good win over evil. All this series does is create more division and hatred. Funny how telling people what to think “or else” doesn’t have the same effect as inspiring people with a heartfelt story. They’re ironically creating the very thing they claim to be fighting.
Now it's to the point where they HAVE to continue. Otherwise, it'll look like us 'patently evil' fans won. And they have the money to do so.
They already ruined it. Just let them waste more money! Have a second laugh as they fail a second time!
I vote cancel the rings of power
I would rather watch the extended edition of The Hobbit back-to-back TWICE with only a couple of empty water bottles for potty breaks than expose my already charred soul to this Amazon shitshow.
If THIS is them FOCUSED on writing.... wow. I have no words. I can't even imagine what would be the script if they just did it willy-nilly
Some people fail harder the harder they work. We have a word for that: "incompetent."
ever read those books that go like this " see jane run" it would be along those lines.
Man these people are scary by how far they will manipulate the truth to fit their world view by calling people evil for not liking garbage. That is what I would call evil.
Rings of Power is the CW Batwoman of Tolkien
Change my mind
90% of people on Earth, dont even know what ,,Rings of Power" is.
AND THATS A GOOD THING.
98%*
What still bugs me the most about the girlbossing of guyladrielle was that they could have just as easily made her a Circe Lannister clone and that would have been a closer match to her actual character. She was a magic user and a politician not xena warrior princess.
Yeh she has immense power frankly fighting orcs is beneath her although maybe she hasn’t gotten it yet
She's not a magic user either. She possesses power which means she's more spiritual. Which is probably Tolkien's creative take on Angels as there are many similarities between biblical angels and his elves in the book.
u can't see anything without adding politics! lor is not anything to do with politics. lady g was maby a type of ambassador if u want to add ur own imagination to the story but even that's a stretch. she was simply a ring bearer not politician
@@millennialodyssey5956 nice but wrong! the elves are the Scandinavians! the shire folk are the English and Irish the ppl of gondor are the French and the orks of morodor are the German natziz! it's nothing to do with angels! the myar are the angels in lor! amd there are both bad and good
@@millennialodyssey5956 yes she is a magic user u plank! spirituality as u put it is magic in lor
Never been so proud to be called evil. I've been called lovely, but somehow this made me blush more.
Don't you just love those who DEMAND you validate and accept their worldview while demeaning and ridiculing yours?!?!?
Hahaha
I can't get over how the script writers just admitted to nepotism getting them the jobs to ruin the show's script. Just woah, it's like they don't think before they speak, and have no self-awareness to realize it.
It's also because they don't care. They're getting paid millions after getting the job by sucking up to the 'right' Hollywood activists. The show is just a box-ticking exercise to them.
7:26 "I've been a star trek fan since I was 15 years old and I try to talk as fast as I can so no one can hear how much crap i talk"
I'm rooting for the orcs on this one.
Prince Aldarion and His Journey to the Very Gates of Dawn His Love of The Elves and Reverence to the Vala. His life long Friendship With King Gilgalad And Elrond. His journeys among the Fearful Ignorant Men left in Eriador after the Fall of Morogoth. And His efforts to Advance them thru Knowledge. And the Insular people's of Numenor. That is a Wonderful Story.and All There.
That is the third age though
They could even have made them a black disabled lesbian couple, and not one word of lore would be contradicted. But, noooo, we get... this.
@@brandtbollers3183 Exactly! i loved the Tale of Aldarion and Erendis!
Or focus the story on Harad as well, could have been really interesting. Maybe doing the backstory of the Kings who became the Ringwraiths and how Sauron manipulated them.
He hated the movies?
I used to co sider him a bit of grumpy old man, but after seeing what they did I can see why he was sensitive against changes.
They would never be able to put such garbage like this out while he was alive.
@@NegatingSilence I agree man even bad movies from the 80s and 90s are way better than the best movies that come out today.
I have just seen a meme that says: Pyroclastic flows are up to 700° hot. Are Frodo and Sam also fireproof?
They do realize, that Frodo and Sam are just surrounded by LAVA, not a pyroclastic flow. They lie on a massive rock for a very short amount of time and still almost died? You can see how hot the air is cause their lips crack and they also find it so hard to breath they passed out.
I hate that they try to come for the original story and the movies. Thankfully none of their arguments stand any test.
When are these people going to learn that hiring someone for their political views rather than their actual skills is never a good business idea
Welcome to politics son! lol . jk Yeah totally agree with you!
This is why the French started revolting.
Except this is no longer business as we know it. Stakeholder capitalism is the new thing. Communism in disguise. ESGs.
Exactly
That's one reason it's beyond redemption ..Tolkiens mythopoetry is already too poisoned and misshapen by and in their hands.
Never. This is how Marxists work.
7:25 It's like a politician. Tells a story that has no relevance to the question and takes up more than the allotted time. Then just drops how he's a Star Trek nerd, but has no idea how to have a conversation with people nor tell a story.
I mean, he argued that people are mad "that the show has a message of different people coming together to fight evil".
If that's all he gathered from the vast amount of criticism of the show, it makes sense why he's so confused.
Some harfoot whose name I can't be arsed to remember said their hearts are bigger than their feet. If you don't accept that despite them being complete jackasses the entire time they're on screen then you must be a bigot.
the fandom is coming together to fight their evil they should be rewarding us all 😁🙏
@n. noxti have u never heard the term good goods come in small packages or small is beautiful? it's about aesthetics not courage 😔 ur ancestors are spinning rite about now
I love how their still trying to ignore the increasing number of female, black, and gay critics saying how these shows are becoming more and more of an insult and how franchise and lore has to be torn up to do it.
Past a certain point it just wont work.
Those individuals should've figured it out sooner, but better late than never
It's incredibly insulting to women and people of color to think that shoehorning them into stereotypical traits and positions with hollow character writing, is all that it takes. Imagine that the people who supposedly say they're supporting you, are doing so by destroying others. It's like Hitler wanting to make the world a better place at the cost of killing all Jews. Literally.
Amazon is racist towards people of color, and mysogynistic towards women.
