- Well, the uhaul box truck isn’t quite finished but I have made a heck of a lot of progress!
Im hitting the road and pausing the build for a while so I made a tour to show you how I’ll be living and answer a lot of your questions.

I love the pass through! It's always made me think about how unsafe it is to have to get out of your truck to drive out of a bad situation! Great addition!!

the watermelon under the bed is a great description of van life storage

This truly is the best build
This is one of the few builds that I think I could live in.
It’s the closest thing to a studio apartment on wheels..as soon as I finish the wet bath
SUGGESTION FOR YOUR SHOWER : Just do half walls with a hinged lid and door. That way you won't cover up your window, it will be a more open floor plan ,and it will give you extra counter space if needed.

The most important lesson i learnt from a mobile lifestyle is you will need
a LOT more water storage capacity than you think you will or life will be painful.
Induction and floor tiles are things I love that I rarely see in these builds. Great design.

looks great! im not sure if you have an issue with bugs coming in when you open the windows but i think its possible to DIY removable screens with the use of magnetic strips, screen material and a hot glue gun! I am in agreement with you, its nice to be able to open windows when its raining and not have the water blowing in. Who doesnt love the sound of rain???
These windows do have screens I just prefer to leave them out until they are needed

I just got my vehicle to convert yesterday. You used a lot of the same design choices I have planned for my build. Seeing how successfully your build came together gives me hope that mine won't be a total disaster! 😅

@@nomadbrad503just bought my box truck to convert. I was so excited! But now trying to find reasonable insurance coverage for the convertion. Because box truck is listed on my title, it has to be insured as a commercial vehicle I was told by Allstate; even though I'm in process of converting it & even though at this time it's not mobile.😢

I have driven and see those 12’ Uhauls and often thought they might make a good conversion. I think yours is great! If all you did was add the bath it would be perfect. Seems like you thought of everything!!! Happy travels.

I've always wanted a U-Haul. I'm happy w my van but need more space n always felt like it would b the perfect size for me. Love what u have done!!

Who thinks the pawn shops on every corner that buy Grandmas gold jewelry for pennies on the dollar are part of the problem ? Make sure you take photos of all your valuables . I believe pawn shops are required to return items if you can prove rightful ownership.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I paid $12k for the van. $2k for suspension components that needed replacement. As for the build I have lost count but about $10 in materials and equipment.

This is awesome man. I got a truck I like and have a choice between a 12 and a 16 foot box. The 12 will be easier to install but the 16 has more room. You did a great job making the 12 foot efficient so I may go that route!
I love the interior space of a 16, but honestly it’s just too big for city driving. I can park this 12’ easily in any store parking lot or public park. It’s the largest rig that fits in a standard parking space. You will have a lot of parking limitations if you go any bigger
16’ is great if you plan to be out of town in the forests or desert or camp grounds.

2007 is the year you want. The 6.8v10 with the 5 speed torque shift trans is solid. Make sure you do the full engine service, 100k plugs so make sure you swap those out and do the rear diff fluid change.
Thanks for the tips. Just had the trans serviced, diff serviced, new shocks, u joints, carrier bearing, all plugs and 4 coils replaced before leaving Texas . Ended up having to do a trail repair last week. Changed out the transmission parking break and lubed the 2 piece driveline. That was a hell of a job but got it done in the forest 😂 video coming soon

Great setup! If I could give you suggestion, you coule build the wet bath next to the door (in between the sink and the kitchen countertop) instead of where your plan is. Just put shower pan underneath the floor, and after you use it you can hide it using the same flooring materials. By doing the shower this way, you can use it kinda like inside-outside shower, and you can use the shower if you go to the beach without worrying sand inside the cabin. But otherwise, great job on the conversion! Love the clean setup!
Oh and btw, you can use shower curtain istead of permanent enclosed bathroom, makes the room feels much bigger and you can tuck the shower curtain away when not in use
