YO, For all those saying "I would literally DIE without any windows, etc. etc." Well, we did install a window over the couch. By far the top negative comment haha so I guess we'll have to make a window video...
You should keep the carbon monoxide sensor down low to the floor as carbon monoxide is heavier than oxygen. By the time the sensor picks it up you might have already been sitting in it. But you might already know that and if so just ignore this lol great build, looking forward to building one myself in the future
Ummmm, no. It’s lighter than air, but not light enough to rise like smoke does. Your placement is flawed in that it could be closer to the sleeping area so it will wake you sooner. It as for detection, it’s fine.
Actually very impressed and the bed/storage area is brilliant. More than enough space to live comfortably, not sure how I would go about configuring for our Winters here in Canada, but the box truck is very appealing and has distinct merits. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos
Thanks! One thing I WISH we would have done is install floor heating mats. That would have been nice in winter. Overall it's most comfortable above freezing ;)
Explorist Life does do more expensive components but he does show you how to do all your electrical system and you can use less expensive parts if you want
This was an all around great video. I've been thinking about making the move from apartment living to doing a conversion and some of the videos are really lifeless. Don't get me wrong, their inspiring and creative but I start falling asleep. This was fresh, entertaining and really an amazing build! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!! It's definitely not always rainbows and butterflies like social media portrays, but if you want the freedom to travel and live rent free it is a great means to do so! Our plan is a full year on the road. We'll see after that 😁
I enjoyed the video and seeing you knowledgeable and beautiful people. The inability to sell the timber there is big. I love the isolation, feeling of security and the beauty. It can be a gorgeous and workable homestead. Than you, Helene/Texas.
Ain't that the truth! We love our box. I think for a solo traveler a van is ok. But to be able to stand up, move around comfortably it is nice. Plus we only spent $20k everything included. It's been an adventure!
@@theboonboxers yeah, they are like $15-30 for 4 of them from Amazon! Lol... and as an industrial electrician, I would love to see more on your electrical system, I am considering a box truck or skoolie conversion for travel work and don't mind using someone else's ideas to save time and money. I like the use of space for storage under the bed, looks well thought out and a good use of space. How long does the charge on that 1 battery last when you're boondocking?

Wow, great job you guys!! Absolute perfect use of space, open feeling floor plan & it looks super cozy. I have been looking for a while for a box truck conversion video that checked all of my boxes & this is, so far, the only one I've found. I really love this! Thanks for sharing & enjoy your journey!
Sweet! Yeah we love the lay out! We did have to work with the door already there. It's a great spacious layout for traveling! I would definitely recommend the biggest couch you can do. I love taking naps and relaxing on ours. Too many vans and smaller rigs don't have enough lounging room.
I think your Ford Box Van is Awesome the way you made it is perfect I think I will copy your Ideas when I do mine!.. congrats. Good job. Jaime from Houston,TX
What a cool build! I like the box truck. It’s bigger than a van and IMO gives it still a bit more stealthy look. Yes the various outlets probably gives it away someone living in there and the bike on the back. But still. Then there’s the bed that lift up to more storage and probably gives easier access to the cab. I love that you have acces to the cab from the living quarters and vice versa without having to step outside. I probably would’ve come up with some design feature that would allow a real door to the bathroom to keep out sound and odors🤣
Box trucks are super stealthy! We kinda gave up the idea that we wanted to be that stealth anyway. We don't spend too much time in big cities. But yeah the design is simple, we might make a video on what we would do differently next time. A better shower door and fan would most likely be on that list!
I am almost finished converting a Ford Transit box truck with garage for motorcycle under bed, it even has a hydraulic lifting backdoor for loading the bike ;) Much more room in a box truck then a van. Going 100% stealth, only thing suspicious is the 1280w of solar panels on roof but normally you do not see them because it is so high up (it is 3,2m tall) and just look like a roof rack from the sides.
Great job on the build! Just one suggestion. I noticed you have a bit of partical/OSB board. If you haven't put a varnish or sealant on it please do. The fumes from the glue can be quite toxic in such a small area. Known to cause miscarriages. Best to your travels. ✌
Excellent! If the video were another 3:11 longer, you could have subtly called out all the other “van life influencer” tropes. Well played and a great home! Now, pump that bass and have some coffee.

You should! It's the way to go
I really like this build. Most builds Im seeing start with a sprinter and then add on 45-50k in goodies. So a 100k van. Like the budget build
$20k for our whole set up (including van)! Right? Vans are nice for their own reasons, but for the price they're really over done.
That’s what I’m talking about. Great build and you have everything you need for $20k. That’s awesome.
