- I had a chat with Bill and he took me through the steps you can follow to start a business in Rwanda as a foreigner.

Below are the steps to starting a business here in Rwanda:
Rwanda Business Steps
Arrive Kigali with 30 Day Visitor Visa.
Within 30 days, visit Immigration Office (room #1) and request (in writing) a 90 Day Special Pass to investigate starting a business. Cost for 90 Day Special Pass 50,000rwf (approximately $50 USD)
Ready to establish a business in Rwanda:
Visit RDB website (rdb.rw) to apply for your business registration online or go to an IREMBO office, located throughout the city, to get help with registering your business. It takes just a few days to receive your official “Certificate of Domestic Company Registration” and Company Code Number.
Once the business is established and operating:
Go to the Immigration Office (room #6) to apply for a Business Visa. IREMBO agent in room 6 will help you complete the application.
You will need the following.
1. Letter requesting business visa based on operating a business in Rwanda
2. CV (or resume)
3. Police clearance from your home country not older than 6 months
4. RDB Certificate of company registration
5. Passport
6. Passport photo (available in room 6 for 2000rwf)
7. You will also be asked to list your location by District, Sector, Cell, and Village
All the above documents will also need to be emailed to permitdocs@migration.gov.rw
Cost of Business Visa 150,000rwf.
You will be notified when to return to Immigration office room 1 with your passport to receive the Visa Stamp.
Once you have the visa stamp in your passport, you can apply for a Foreigner Identification Card, which cost 5000rwf, in the same room 1.

@@okaforhenry8165 rewatch the video to get all the immigration steps for visa that I did when I got to Rwanda. From 30 day tourist visa on arrival to finally 2 year business visa.
Rents for a shop depends on location. I have one shop in residential area rented for $100 per month and another shop just blocks away from kimironko market for $300 per month. Locating in a mall will be more expensive. Best advice is to come here and investigate for yourself. There are many phone accessories and fragrance stores here.

A great interview. Lot of information. Please tell me Rwanda residence permit easy or hard to get.
Best place is to check their website, migration.gov.rw There's a section on visa and permits. The process in Rwanda is not difficult. The immigration officials are friendly and helpful. In Rwanda they follow the rules so there are no hidden surprises nor untold costs.

Hello, No you can't do it all online. You will have to visit immigration and irembo to get paper copies of certificate and to get passport stamped and pay some fees. But a lot can be done online. Keep in mind, you can't get the business visa stamp until after you have started to operate your business.

If you please can you elaborate why you found out that social media and SEO agency will not be successful ? it seems there are some agencies in that field already working in Kigali .

Shark tank is more or less a venture capitalist. Invest in your business and in return they own a percentage of the company.

Rent for a shop ranges from $100 to $300usd per month. Setup if a shop not including merchandise is few thousand dollars. Merchandise costs depends on hat you are selling.

What do u suggest
would you need a business partner if you're starting a virtual business?
I suggest a partner if you are not fluent in the language here, especially if you will be interacting with local employees or local customers. Same for working with local suppliers and contractors. A virtual online business may not run into those same issues.
Under 5 ground
Starting a business with under $5000 is possible but you are going to need more than that to operate your business and and even more to sustain the business.

That depends. Are you buying an existing nightclub? Are you starting from scratch? Will it be high end or low end (a beer hall)? Will you have a local partner who can negotiate costs in kinyarwanda or will you try to negotiate for yourself? It all depends.
