    Great video, I get the idea of using a millivolt gas valve and thermopile, am about to purchase a gas log set and burner and perhaps by using the millivolt gas valve can connect a millivolt thermostat to regulate room temperature in winter, great idea, thanks for showing.

    Great video. I love that you showed us how to do this. Thank you. Screw all of the haters!

    Do not use plumbers putty on gas lines.

    This was extremely helpful - comprehensible, good tempo and best of all? I used it to achieve a fast, successful installation! Thanks!

    Bells started going off immediately. Are you sure you want to install your manual cut-off valve BEHIND THE BURNER? Also, using crescent wrench backwards, which is why it slipped off, rounding off your brass ferrules.

    Been a while. What are the electrical characteristics ? When you shorted the two wires, power was coming from somewhere -- where ? Otherwise, excellent how-to.

    • @FormationCreation
      @FormationCreation  2 года назад

      Hey! The only power source would be coming from the thermocouple, which generates milliamps from the heat source. The other wires are purely to run to a switch, no power needed.

    • @happyhome41
      @happyhome41 2 года назад

      @@FormationCreation I shorted the wires, and nothing happened. The receiver supplied with the log set/gas valve had a place for four AA batteries and a hook up for an external battery pack with another four D-cells. All that power would suggest the receiver is powering the main gas valve ?

    Why not use a whisper flex gas line?

    Use pipe dope not plumbers putty. Thats not what its for also you dont put anything on a flared tube fitting ..ever

    • @daniellgeiger2076
      @daniellgeiger2076 5 лет назад +1

      Yes and never put a wrench on the flared/threaded part of a fitting, what a poor demonstration.

    Dangerous! plumbers putty is not safe for natural gas fittings installation.

      I guess it is a Dexen Millivolt valve.

    Can I use both remote control and wall switch ? like turn on the wall switch and fire is on and vice-versa.
    If wall switch on, then only remote works ? is this possible ?
    Please let me know, I am going back and forth with builder, builder does not know what he is doing.

      I don't believe it would be possible with a normal installation as shown "VERY WELL" in this video. When you turn OFF your wall switch your remote would not work at all. Leaving it on, the remote works ANYTIME. That's about all you can do with a standard wall switch.
      Good luck to you?

    After following the Video,I installed a Dexen 6003 with Acumen remote.When I turn it off using remote it makes a sound for 3 seconds.Is this normal?

    Never use a torch to light a pilot with thermocouple or thermopile,if there is air in the gas piping you could preheat the thermocouple and allow main burner gas to flow.Someone not familiar with the operation of a gas control valve could get flash burned.

    • @patriot1303
      @patriot1303 2 года назад +2

      Not unless the switch was turned to on - the main valve needs the current that passes through the switch or the voltage is isolated at the thermopile

    I do not like this thermostat because the batteries are always going dead.
    I cannot find a good video on how to hook up a wall thermostat without batteries.

    • @alexanderc05
      @alexanderc05 Год назад

      It depends, he is showing a millivolt gas valve and must use a millivolt compatible thermostat to use with batteries or 24volt transformer, there are hard wire or plug in transformers, good luck.

    I hate to have to bring this up. But how anyone in good conscious could leave this video up, is beyond me. We're working with explosive gas here. Previous comments have pointed to the potential problems, years ago. sigh
