personally, I love FIFA games. havent bought FIFA 19, but spent over 700 hours playing FIFA 18, and 99.9% of it was single player mycareer mode and I dont feel like I missed out on anything for not playing ultimate team. Now I am waiting for FIFA 20 like crazy. Out of all sports games, Madden is by far the worst, and I get Joes frustration, but I think he is too harsh on other sports games, since his opinion is painted purely from madden games. FIFA puts a lot of effort into single player modes, ultimate team actually is the most stagnant mode, but its not broke dont fix it approach, if other gamers want to spend real money on it, I couldnt care less, personally I enjoy playing out my manager fantasy in single player. Not to mention gameplay is great. NBA 2k probably has the most feature filled single player, but their problem has been aint perfect gameplay and lack of testing. They put so many features in mygm and other modes, but didnt test basics, like players got injured in that game so frequently it was obviously not tested at all. That game was unplayable because of that.

It took me 2 years to play out FIFA, but i have obsessive compulsive thing where I just do repetitive things, so I agree thats the mental problem I have. I often just play something that doesnt require audio, like sports games, or Xcom or civilization, or Stellaris etc.

Than as soon as you get him, they release a stronger charizard card they expect you to aquire again, and again, and again......... Next year happens and now it's a new Pokemon year!! Anybody else remember like 10 years ago, when you could make an entire team, made entirely of custom built character, all of them 7ft tall, weighing 400lbs, and all of them with max stats of 100 for free? You would play against the A.I. and win every game unconditionally and you would injure most of the other teams players, meaning that you would only continue to soundly beat them in every game in the season. That was the last time I bought a madden game, it's been getting worse and worse for 10 years.
I remember that, but with the fifa games. I remember playing one game after the other, endlessly until you quit the game. Now you have to go through endless menus and play with cards, before you can even play 1 single game, and limited at that. :(
If it is stressing our the system, that means the programmers suck. You can load helmets if you can load giant open-world games. Madden isn't a heavy environment.
It's sad, especially since the Frostbite engine was design for huge maps. If the game is struggling with only a medium size stadium then something is wrong with your game code.

The last madden i enjoyed was 06. That game was the shit. I remember you had minicamps and interviews and you could even star in movies. You could build your own teams and stadiums and you could play mycareer at any position, even kicker. Crazy how much stuff they've taken out of the game since then.

Well, if it implodes and goes bankrupt, they likely sell off their IP's. Hopefully a series like Mass Effect would end up with the Witcher's developers or Bethesda if they ever get their shit together, I remember after Skyrim, Bethesda was a company I'd have loved to see get control of that IP. Maybe that new studio, I forget the name, where most of Mass Effect's original creators went to. Madden could go to some new company with fresh ideas and so on.

These sports games are the perfect venue for publishers to really take advantage of their customers, it can be assumed that fans of the specific sport are not all gamers but would like to pla y a game of their favorite sport. So, they look at what seems pretty good and they are unaware of the actual bad practices that occur under the hood. Anybody else remember like 10 years ago, when you could make an entire team, made entirely of custom built character, all of them 7ft tall, weighing 400lbs, and all of them with max stats of 100 for free? You would play against the A.I. and win every game unconditionally and you would injure most of the other teams players, meaning that you would only continue to soundly beat them in every game in the season. That was the last time I bought a madden game, it's been getting worse and worse for 10 years.

If it is stressing our the system, that means the programmers suck. You can load helmets if you can load giant open-world games. Madden isn't a heavy environment.

The last madden i enjoyed was 06. That game was the shit. I remember you had minicamps and interviews and you could even star in movies. Well, if it implodes and goes bankrupt, they likely sell off their IP's. Hopefully a series like Mass Effect would end up with the Witcher's developers or Bethesda if they ever get their shit together, I remember after Skyrim, Bethesda was a company I'd have loved to see get control of that IP. Maybe that new studio, I forget the name, where most of Mass Effect's original creators went to. Madden could go to some new company with fresh ideas and so on.

These sports games are the perfect venue for publishers to really take advantage of their customers, it can be assumed that fans of the specific sport are not all gamers but would like to pla y a game of their favorite sport. So, they look at what seems pretty good and they are unaware of the actual bad practices that occur under the hood.
