It’s amazing how well the statement “history repeats itself” holds true in this situation gaming almost completely destroyed itself in the years leading up to 1983 cause game publishers kept on releasing cheaper and lower and lower quality games and either keeping the price the same or charging more or spamming them out knowing kids would get there parents to buy them (in essence companies got greedier and greedier until it all collapsed on itself) the collapsing point was ET, NBA2K20 is (if it’s not already the tipping point) a retelling of that story just instead of spamming out cheap games it’s spamming out micro transactions, as I was watching this video I was thinking about how in the past few years there has been less and less games that I have gotten really excited about or games that I could pick up and play for hours without noticing time go by(this could be a product of me growing up but I think it’s both) if this predatory monetization is allowed to continue than gaming will be severely damaged or become something only the elite will enjoy, which is an absolute shame, gaming used to be a place where everyone no matter there race, age (exception estb ratings), economic background (for those can afford to play), could escape the stress of the real world and go to one where were all on the same foot. It’s amazing how well the statement “history repeats itself” holds true in this situation gaming almost completely destroyed itself in the years leading up to 1983 cause game publishers kept on releasing cheaper and lower and lower quality games and either keeping the price the same or charging more or spamming them out knowing kids would get there parents to buy them (in essence companies got greedier and greedier until it all collapsed on itself) the collapsing point was ET, NBA2K20 is (if it’s not already the tipping point) a retelling of that story just instead of spamming out cheap games it’s spamming out micro transactions, as I was watching this video I was thinking about how in the past few years there has been less and less games that I have gotten really excited about or games that I could pick up and play for hours without noticing time go by(this could be a product of me growing up but I think it’s both) if this predatory monetization is allowed to continue than gaming will be severely damaged or become something only the elite will enjoy, which is an absolute shame, gaming used to be a place where everyone no matter there race, age (exception estb ratings), economic background (for those can afford to play), could escape the stress of the real world and go to one where were all on the same foot. It used to be in the video game world everyone would start on the same foot and you had to earn everything threw play and nobody was able to pay for an advantage, that was the golden age of gaming which unfortunately will likely never return. I truly do hope more people take notice and act cause gaming even though it’s vilified by a lot of different groups and people does a lot of good for a lot of people and brings them together. There is no art involved in sports games. I respect those that developed and have the skill to produce the games we play. I lose respect when you are feeding us the same shit over and over. Our dollars speak and alot of people are speaking for the wrong titles ( sports in particular).

So because companies make their games toxic for the player base the players of games are supposed to just accept that their games are toxic and its all their fault if they carry on wanting to play? Surely the companies brought about this environment slowly but surely to where they wanted it, skirting around legislation to build this awful MTX driven generation of games. Players are responsible for furthering the problem of course but they are deceived and lied to every step of the way so many are far less capable of making good choices. Gaming companies are taking the complete piss out of our laws and people and are still under barely any quality of scrutiny or legislation that keeps kids and all other gamers safe.
