I learned from another pattern that the trick is to measure the circle after each row that way you know when to stop for what size head you're making

So do I. I hate making the hats that start with the bottom ribbing.

Love your yarn choice. Thanks for recommending Tulip Etimo hooks. I now have the rose gold set and the steel crochet hook set. I use them all of the time and absolutely love them.

Should the head match the circumference listed in the pattern? For adult men, it is listed as 22". Should I make that for a head that is 22", or since the hat will stretch, should the head be bigger? For example, my tween has a head circumference of 22", should I size it as a tween, woman, or men's hat?

On the pattern it says to use a 6.5 (k) hook but your hook looks smaller. What size is best to use?

I am having trouble with the crown in round 3 (adult women size) at the end of round 3 I end up with 25 stitches instead of 24 stitches.I closed the former rounds correctly (16 stitches).

I’m having the same issue. If I count the chain stitches as one as the video says then I end up with too many. I’m very confused because between the pattern and video it’s conflicting

I thought the pattern would be like real pattern (not just writing down) so I can actually see the rows and where each DC is. Just bought a not useful pdf for 4$ :|

  • @cindywood8129

You say that the chain three counts as the first stitch but then when you're doing the first stitch instead of just adding one stitch you add two which makes three stitches in the first stitch since you said the chain three counts as the first stitch. I thought that since you're doing it that way when you get to the end of the round shouldn't you only be putting one stitch in the last stitch since you'll be creating another stitch by slip stitching into chain three?

Hi Tammy, this hat can be worked in 7 sizes, from preemie to adult men. It goes preemie, baby, toddler, child, tween, women and men. Let's say that you are working a woman's hat and you are in round 1. You would chain 4, then work 7 DC in the 4th chain from hook.eg.
      9(9,9,7, 9,7,9) means preemie 9, baby (9, toddler 9, child 7, tween 9, women 7, men 9).
