I feel like even though apple didn’t say, the series one ocean bands are different than the series 2 ocean bands. I felt the series 2 bands were easier to put on and off especially when pulling the excess through the metal clasp
I regularly find the hook on the alpine loop making contact with the watch ‘bezel’ and screen, particularly if I take my watch off a bit too hastily. I’m pretty sure I’ve got a few ‘dings’ on my watch case as a result. It’s avoidable, but still something to consider.
I’m thinking of upgrading my Apple Watch this year to an Apple Watch Ultra but wasn’t sure what strap to choose… you explained this so well and in detail with the pros and cons for each of them… I’ve made up my mind… Trail Loop it is.. thanx for an awesome video 👍🏻
I opted for the white ocean band. I thought the alpine and trail bands felt a bit flimsy and were not a good match for the size of the Ultra 2. I find the ocean band better if you are active and sweat is not a problem since the rubber is easy to clean. I also found the ocean band the most comfortable of the 3.
Got the Ultra 2 with the Ocean blue band since I loved the sport band on my old SE, and I love it (from a practical and stylish perspective). It doesn't get soaking wet while working out and getting it on is not even close to a problem at all. Very easy once you get used to it.
Good review, well edited 👍 I’ve got ultra 2 with blue and orange ocean bands. I believe you’ve got the titanium spring loaded loop incorrectly installed. See 1:34. I’ve got mine set up for the loop to be permanently fixed to the upper band, then you tuck in the end of the lower band into it. You shouldn’t have to disengage the spring loaded loop, each time you take off the watch. I might invest in a trail loop off the back of your review. Thanks
@@Safwaan since you asked: 1. You don’t know how to wear the alpine loop. 2. You clearly bought the wrong size since it’s underneath your wrist, but sure, you know better. 🤪 3. Your audio has a lot to be desired.
I got the blue Ocean Band with my Apple Ultra 2 watch and like having it for water-sports and such. For general use I am using the Pitaka carbon fiber which I like very much and find lighter in weight and more comfortable. There are some reviews out there of the pros and cons of the later, but I have not had it long enough. Thanks for the video.
Just got my AWU2 a couple of days ago and got all 3 bands. I sleep with the trail loop, and I go to work with alpine loop and during weekends I plan to go with my orange ocean band
All your bands are from apple or you bought a third part band? I am in doubt about what of them I get with the watch and if make sense to pay $99 for a genuine band!! Probably I will go with trail loop, but I also want a ocean band for different occasion
It would help if you turned the Alpine loop around... so that the hook would be on the inside of the wrist. If you do that, all the issues you brought up are mitigated.
Very helpful--thanks! (Also, liked the pacing; quick enough to be efficient, but not frenetic. And finally, you have a great voice--you should narrate audiobooks or something!)
White Ocean Band for me as I regularly use the AU2 in the gym and live in a hot humid climate - sweat a ton. The Ocean Band works best with the amount of sweat and definitely does not get dirty. Super happy with the Ocean Band which is very comfortable.
The Ocean Band in Yellow color is awesome to wear everyday. I wear my Watch Ultra since Oct 2022 with this one. It is so comfortable and it looks so well on the Watch Ultra.
I’ve been using my trail band with my gen 1 ultra(which I bought within a week of release) and its condition is still awesome. (I swim, shower and exercise in it). Only change it when I dress for a nice event
Trail loop is my favorite. But I suggest regular silicone straps that are meant for non-Ultra Apple Watch. You can get tons of colors (originals and third party as well) and they supremely comfortable.
I have a sport loop on my watch and I surf, swim or exercise with it every day and I have no issues with it in the water... it dries pretty quick. My last watch was an apple watch 4 which lasted 5 years and i maybe went through 2 sport loops total in that duration after heavy daily use... definitely the most comfortable for me
Some people prefer having the crown on the left side personal preference I guess or also to avoid unintentionally pressing on the crown etc. You can set it up on the settings and tell the watch the crown is on the left side.
Will my milinese loop and sport loop from my 42mm Series 2 Apple Watch work with an Apple Watch Ultra 49mm or even the series 9 45mm?? I’m considering upgrading from my stainless steel series 2 to a new watch…
Bro what why do u take the little loop off the ocean band every time you unlatch it?? Just keep the loop in the hole and slide the band out and in. So much simpler
Trail strap deteriorates with time especially if you live somewhere warm, sweat just wears it out. There are also very good non apple straps out there, try Spigen for example.
Thank you for this comparison. I will surely solve most of the problems of many. If you are not 100% satisfied with the bands of the Apple Watch Ultra / Ultra 2, I recommend the sport bands of the Apple Watch classics 45mm. Merry Chrismas for all :)
I am new to apple products, switched this year to phone and watch after years of using different android phones and watches and what is fascinating to me is how majority of people are not complaining about the type, quality, feeling and at the end pure impression of apple watch straps that you get of of the box. They are simply bad, with samsung and huawei which I used prior to apple watch your initial strap is far better in quality and visual impression. And with this 1000 € watch you get, well simply cheap looking strap that is inconvenient if you have to take it off on a daily basis.
The alpine loop doesn’t retain much water at all, it drs as soon as I’ve dried myself after showering before bed. Also go for a larger size and wear the strap the other way round to what you have shown, you won’t scratch your keyboard or hit the watch face when removing 👍🏼
I’ve been wearing and have tried every genuine Apple watch band and my personal favorites are: the Braided Solo Loop (just make sure you get the right size), the Ultra Trail Loop and the discontinued Nike Sport Band. The Alpine Loop and the Ocean band are both too bulky and a truly a hassle to wear and annoying to adjust and re-adjust- I seriously wouldn’t recommend them.
How big around are your wrists? I will be getting the Ultra soon and I'm worried its gonna be too big and look stoopid as Im a man with really thin wrists...
Thank you for your very detailed and thorough comments on the Alpine Loop watch band and the others! I am looking for my first Apple Watch band and my first Apple Watch. I want to make sure I get the right one for my needs.
I noticed that your wrist size is almost identical to mine. What Alpine loop size do you have? I have an L and on my wrist (158mm) it goes all the way to the last hook and is still slightly loose. I'm thinking of getting another one but not sure if I should get the M or L size.
The ocean band is too small for some people. To fit properly, I would need to buy an extension separately, and that's absurd: I have to use my watch literally on the last hole of the band that comes with it. Switched for the Alpine Loop.
Just ordered the ultra 2 (first watch) with the black and blue trail loop! The flexible slip on elastic style loop in the Apple Store was by far the nicest band I tried on. Secure on wrist, fast and easy to put on and can switch around to face up or down in 1/2 a second. Ha Went on Amazon and ordered 2 of the knock off versions of this style. Hope they hold up!
This was such an informative and to-the-point video!! You pointed out so many features I didnt even consider like the typing with the alpine loop. Amazing video!!
Thanks Safwaan, great video! I'm going for trail loop and I'm wondering what size should I go for. I have ~165mm wrist and both sizes S/M (130-180mm) and M/L (145-220mm) would fit. What could be your recommendation, S/M or M/L?
It’s like having three cars on the driveway. You can only drive one at a time. And each car is better suited for different types of journeys. Or you go with one practical car and use it for everything. The answer to your question depends on the person.
I have just bought an Apple Watch Ultra for Christmas and came across this video. Thanks for such an enjoyable and informative video I have just subbed 👍🏻

The Alpine Loop ist mounted the wrong way! And if the hook is directly below the watch, its the wrong size!
Do you guys know where to buy good brands (copy) ? The original is so expensive
You can get rid of the fluff on your trail loop with a cheap razor blade, shaving it off.
The alpine loop is elastic and I find that I can take it off and put it on without undoing the fastener by stretching it.
Using Alpin loop in for my ultra 2. Will be buying the ocean band in orange colour tomorrow

So should u size up the alpine loop to prevent from scratching? Is the g hook suppose to be on the side of ur wrist not bottom ?
