In transport category airplanes there's always installed a third attitude indicator that has its own battery. I was surprised to see the entire panel go black in the simulation. The 3rd attitude indicator is there with its own battery, isolated from main electrical power (except to keep the battery charged) just in case of complete electrical failure. A battery with 22V is very low. The system is actually 28V with 24 being a minimum. If they were ni-cad batteries with that low a voltage they were already shot. Ni-cads provide great initial current but after a certain threshold they drop off very rapidly. Lead acids don't provide as much initial current but drop off much more slowly. Seems there was a battery maintenance issue here that may have not been addressed. Also an emergency load-shedding procedure would have (or should have) been executed. Great save after making the mistake on reading the weather radar. It's been well-known for many years that a heavy, red return will always obscure what's behind that line. It's rarely clear. I saw this plane in the river shortly after the accident (maybe 2or 3 days later) while on a drive . I may be wrong but i think the flight attendant died helping passengers evacuate the aircraft .
nope, died falling out of the aircraft when the aircraft tried to land on the first touch down, there was a hole on the back side of the aircraft... where the FA sitting
In other words, if a plane you boarded meets heavy enough rain, it's doomed. Think about that next time you book a flight on one sophisticated high tech machine. Hoping that someone removed that piece of duct tape from the pipe that reads speed, they put on while washing the plane.
And because of this very incident, the air crew from Lion Air 904 surmised that a water landing just off the Indian Ocean would be a really good party piece! Taca flight 110 also experienced a similar scenario. The CFM engines thought they could beer bong a load of hail and choked up. Interestingly, your captain managed to land it between 2 bridges, so it's good judgement on his part. Getting it to Adi Sucipto would have needed more than a miracle, since the approach is sketchy at best due to Mt Merapi in north and the compounding meterological conditions. Besides, the runway at JOG is bumpy at best. Ask the passengers of GA200 on what's the worst that could happen.
That's bullshit! Lion Air wanted to go around! They fell into the water because they started the go around to late. Taca did land on a levy and not in the water.
@@pmfx65 I guess you can't read subtle tongue in cheek sarcasm. I'm guessing you rarely fly narrowbodies between Indonesian islands, so have my two pennethworth. Terima kasih
I find equally concerning is they lost even the backup instruments. Maybe the backup instruments need to be reverted to none electrical type. (Older type gauges)
instead of coloring the attenuated areas black (which usually means "no contact"), it would seem to be smarter to color them with a picket fence pattern in an unused color (like purple or pink) to make it more clear to the pilots that "we don't know what's here, you might not like it"
@Nathan Fisher I believe also what gets them is not only is it hidden on the radar but their is usually a delay in every radar system some worse then others.
Once it has been fully investigated I could make a video on it. I wouldn’t want to assume things that may turn out to be incorrect. Perhaps in the future I could include aviation related news where I can look into the initial reporting on incidents like this.
It’s hard to simulate on the software I use but there was damage to the rear of the aircraft where one of the flight attendants was sitting. The aircraft remained intact but the impact of hitting the water with the tail caused the fatal injury.
Hello I'm from indonesia, this is the interview with capt. abdul rozaq , "The tail section of the plane hit a rock and opened a hole in the bottom of the plane, which has the effect of a burst balloon. The difference in pressure inside the high-pressure cabin and outside the cabin can cause a suction effect like a powerful vacuum cleaner." The tail section is where the stewardess seated.
if i am not mistaken, initially she was thought to be jumped off the plane but after further investigation, it was determined that she got sucked out instead during the emergency landing
Where are the two bridges among which the plane landed? That was a much more difficult landing that you present here...Just be thuthfull and faithfull for the honor of the pilot that is just a real hero!
There is something missing about the landing process and safety recommendation. What caused the rear flight attendant (RIP) got the fatality? Did she do something wrong, or was it inevitable fatality? If she did something wrong, what is the recommendations to other flight attendants to avoid that kind of fatality in the future?
IIRC the landing was quite hard, the rear door popped off. She was sitting in the cabin attendant seat in front of the door, and her seat was torn off and thrown out the door with her.
Jal 123s pilots controlled a 747-400sr without any hydraulic and vertical stabilizer for 30 mins before crashing in to a mountain (rip) relying only on throttle controls no pilot ever has been able to achieve this feat
Armchair pilot here: You can beat me but I would have lowered the flaps. The damaging water resistance they are causing is partly compensated by the engines who will dive in first. And I would set on having the lowest speed possible when touching down.

It's amazing - when I made a drone video of the REAL PLACE and included the names and details of the pilots, no Indonesians cared or viewed it.
I saw this plane in the river shortly after the accident (maybe 2or 3 days later) while on a drive . I may be wrong but i think the flight attendant died helping passengers evacuate the aircraft .
Sekarang tinggal di mana Pak?
nope, died falling out of the aircraft when the aircraft tried to land on the first touch down, there was a hole on the back side of the aircraft... where the FA sitting
Other rumor is the attendant died because she open door early and jump down then drowned.
Hi: thank you for the video
and of course : very good video !!
Fabulous pilots!
In other words, if a plane you boarded meets heavy enough rain, it's doomed. Think about that next time you book a flight on one sophisticated high tech machine. Hoping that someone removed that piece of duct tape from the pipe that reads speed, they put on while washing the plane.
Why was the weather radar images different for the pilot and copilot?
The Indonesian Sully....alas with one fatality.
Are the graphics from the game Flight Simulator?
10:30 if I'm not mistaken, 737 Cal's batteries have 28v nominal, not 24v
I find equally concerning is they lost even the backup instruments. Maybe the backup instruments need to be reverted to none electrical type. (Older type gauges)
Also needs electricity
Did they switch on the engine Ignition, on entering the storm,, The audio was nott clear.
As soon as you said radar. My first thought was that another one must be hidden behind the one on the radar.
instead of coloring the attenuated areas black (which usually means "no contact"), it would seem to be smarter to color them with a picket fence pattern in an unused color (like purple or pink) to make it more clear to the pilots that "we don't know what's here, you might not like it"
@Nathan Fisher I believe also what gets them is not only is it hidden on the radar but their is usually a delay in every radar system some worse then others.
Can you do Nepal plane crash yesterday?
Once it has been fully investigated I could make a video on it. I wouldn’t want to assume things that may turn out to be incorrect. Perhaps in the future I could include aviation related news where I can look into the initial reporting on incidents like this.
What caused the fatality? The airplane seemed to remain intact.
Unfortunately this is not accurate enough, the color of the real river is not as blue as in that video
This happened near my house
2Km instead
Really fascinating
Crew attendant die from jump from height alone
The pilots are legendary
if i am not mistaken, initially she was thought to be jumped off the plane but after further investigation, it was determined that she got sucked out instead during the emergency landing
@@coffeesweet1 nice info bro.
That could be
Pray for flight attendant 😇
200 meter more slides it headed direct onto bridge
Rule #1. Start the APU as soon you lose all engine power.
The battery was reportedly faulty
Greetings :) What 737 addon for X-Plane 12 is this?
These pilots should be made famous just like Scully.
An an event when you learn the colour of adrenaline is actually brown. I sooo hope the crew got recognition for this.
No electrical, no hydrolics, how were they able to control the aircraft?
Cables to the key flight control surfaces, muscle, experience and a little luck. In short, they did an amazing job.
Jal 123s pilots controlled a 747-400sr without any hydraulic and vertical stabilizer for 30 mins before crashing in to a mountain (rip) relying only on throttle controls no pilot ever has been able to achieve this feat
The name of the flight attendant who lost her life is Santi Anggraeni (26 years old)
RIP
Ballsy decision to land on a river, these things rarely go well. Very skillful airmanship.
Armchair pilot here: You can beat me but I would have lowered the flaps. The damaging water resistance they are causing is partly compensated by the engines who will dive in first. And I would set on having the lowest speed possible when touching down.
I was on this flight- was very scary !!
Sulawesi Sully.
