@@salendrak Well I need as much information as I can possibly get :D I tried a Ruins Rush today and died miserably on day 14 xD but maybe high risk high reward is just not my cup of tea ^^
@@salendrak DST. I just enjoy playing Wendy so much since her rework! It's just a joy to kill everything that comes in your way and work in the dark with your beloved sister giving you light and a hand in murder :3
Oh wow, I'm playing the mobile version and started at spring. Looking forward to going to caves during summer. I'm very excited for your ruins guide :D
I've read somewhere that you can maintain bee boxes down in the caves so long as the boxes and flowers get natural light. I'm trying to do it so I can make taffy and healing items during summer.
Natural light is actually not even needed in the caves! Not sure if it works differently in DST, but in single player you can plant flowers on any appropriate turf in the caves regardless of light. It can even be pitch black where you have the boxes and flowers, and the bees will still go out and pollinate! Doesn't work in the Ruins level though, as the bees think it's night all the time down there and stay in the box. They'll still generate 1 honey per day though if they are unloaded, but this is pretty slow and probably not worth the effort.
@@salendrak Thanks for the tip. I made the mistake of opening my bundling wrap with 20 bees in the caves not realizing doing so releases the live bees individually instead of as a pickable stack. You live and you learn...
Y'know i played this game a lot and survived a full season above ground, but i stopped playing because i always die in the caves mostly bc of the worms, and especially in the ruins because I don't know what to do there And your guide videos inspired me to play this game again, so thank you. ❤️
It's definitely a tricky thing to do!! I've never personally been that much of a fan of it in single player, as I prefer the gradual build up on the surface before moving down into the caves and ruins. Getting all the top tier stuff right at the beginning just makes everything else so trivial!!
I’m just setting up now and have stopped ruining rushing I’m taking it slow and haven’t gone down under yet but killed all seasonal bosses my first years as well as bee queen so pretty good first year but I think this next summer should be my time to set up a base down there and find the ruins and get to clearing!
Also wondering could i use rock lobsters for clearing the ruins if I feed enough rocks over time and kill ancient guardian the ruins are just annoying and I have no joy in the solo fight so could I cheese in a way here?
@@samsplaythroughs3567 I'm pretty sure the lobsters would do fine against the clockworks in the ruins, but the DST Ancient Guardian has WAY too much health and will eat the lobsters alive. The most common cheese method is to simply get yourself into a spot next to a pillar where you can hit the guardian but he can't hit you. I've never personally used this method though and don't really know the details of how it works. Beating bosses like that just isn't my style!
Ooooh I didn't think of mentioning that! I usually just stay far away from monkeys in single player, and snurtles I just destroy the mound if it's in a bad location.
love your vids. its weird, but i often lose my focus in the dont starve games. i explore the world, set up a camp... and most of the time die then. Mostly because of winter and the rarity of food during winter, at least for me, i cant figure out or remember recipes, or run into some type of enemy i cant handle with my experience of the game.
Keep at it! This really is a game where dying a lot early on is part of the learning curve. Since just about everything you aren't familiar with or don't know about will probably try to kill you, there are LOTS of opportunities to die while learning the ropes! But once you get past that curve, surviving is pretty easy, and a LOT of fun!!
This series was fantastic, I made it past Bearger at last 😤 Would you ever make a guide to shipwrecked? The strategy seems completely different to vanilla DS + reign of giants
I've been meaning to do a Shipwrecked guide for a while now, but just haven't quite gotten around to it yet. Someday though - hopefully before too much longer!

Bad luck! On default settings the single player seasonal giants have about a 66% chance to spawn each season. So although you'll usually get them, it's not uncommon to go several years in a row without seeing a particular giant at all. Case in point - in my Wagstaff world I've never seen MooseGoose after three springs!
