Holy Diver was originally sang by Dio, the legend
Jesse was actually KSE's original lead singer. Then Howard. Then, when Howard left the band Jesse came back as the lead singer.
12:00 Yes that's Adam D(KSE guitarist) playing the damsel, tied with Justin(KSE drummer) playing the king for favorite role in the video. And they are from Massachusetts.

Jesse Leach is actually the original Killswitch Engage vocalist... he recorded the first 2 KSE albums (1st self-titled album in 2000 + 'Alive or just breathing' in 2002) but he quit in 2003 just as KSE were touring on 'Alive or just breathing'...
Howard Jones joined KSE on vocals in '03 and did the Ozzfest tour w/ them that year... Howard recorded their 3 biggest albums - 'The end of heartache' (2004)... 'As daylight dies' (2006) and 2nd self-titled album (2009)... Howard Jones declined to tour in '09 and ended up leaving the band... He returned a few years later w/ his own band The Devil you know... later renamed Light the Torch.
Jesse Leach did a record w/ his band Seemless... and recorded the album 'The Hymn of a Broken Man' by Times of Grace (w/ KSE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz) Jesse Leach opted to rejoin KSE in 2013 and recorded the album 'Disarm the descent'... It was followed by the albums - 'Incarnate' (2016)... 'Atonement' (2019)... and a new album coming out soon.
fun fact: KsE is the only metal band I know that has 2 self-titled albums both as Killswitch Engage

1st in 2010... 2nd in 2018...
Queensryche have a self-titled EP in 1982 ... and a self-titled album in 2013.
Ratt has a self-titled EP in 1983 and a self-titled album in 1999.
Definitely a new genre for me. Looking forward to this.

@davidmarrazzo774 Ya, you should check out All That Remains and Shadows Fall. All these bands started in or have some origins in Massachusetts. That's where a lot Metalcore came out from and still thrives, even though the genre has evolved since.

@davidmarrazzo774 Thrash mainly. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth...Suicidal Tendancies. Punk and Hardcore from the 80's. Faith No More. Both Howard and Jesse, who have fronted the band at different times are influenced by FNM's Mike Patton.
Jesse was actually the first singer. But I love both for certain songs.
Check out My Last Serenade by Killswitch Engage. It is Jesse at his best before he left in the early days.

Killswitch were instrumental in bringing melody, as well as uplifting lyrics, to metalcore in the early 2000s. If you watch the "world ablaze" documentary, Corey Taylor basically said that after he listened to the "Alive or just breathing" album from KSE, He had to change it up with Slipknot.. next thing you know, subliminal verses vol3 comes out and there's f**Ken acoustic ballads on there! Killswitch are legends!
My last serenade is still one of my all time favorite songs in existence 🙌

he probably was. They made this cover a few years before Dio moved on.
I'd like to see them do the song Fixation on the Darkness if they haven't done it yet. Not only a good song, but I think the video for it was Howard's debut and one they had him sing on for the video. On the album, it was their other singer.
Going to see them live this weekend, I can't wait !
Oh my God, you should hear Liliac ( Lilly-Ack ) cover this, absolutely Amazing! Melody Cristea is the female version of Dio, so much so that Wendy Dio ( Ronnies' wife ) reached out to them to do The Last In Line for RDJ's Cancer Benefit Show. They also covered Rainbow In The Dark and Heaven and Hell. You should really give these guys a look, their covers are Amazing and the Original LPs ( 3 ) are so good. Chain of Thorns, Queen of Hearts ( in my opinion their best ) and Madness. Check them out. Wait until you hear Melody sing, I have no words how great she is!
Love that you brought up DC and when he would run to the octagon. I started watching UFC at the end of his run. I am sure he would have been 1 of my favorites because he seems funny as hell when he’s announcing!
Finally reacting to good videos again
They are from Boston. Jesse was their original singer who had to leave due to throat issues. Howard replaced him for what was their most successful era. They parted ways in the mid 2010s due to differences and Jesse came back.
Liliac did an amazing job with this song!! Their dad is a huge Dio fan, so it fit that they have done a lot of Dio covers.

Wanna Be was 1996. Spice up your life was 1997. I was never a fan but I specifically remember Spice Up Your Life because I went to Holland November 1997 and their movie had come out, so I heard the song frequently when in Europe...
Great group live! Which is the whole reason they covered this song. I got to see them when they were touring for The End of Heartache and all I can say is, sounds better live.

Yall need to check out Unleashed with Jesse. Jesse was the original lead vocal but had issues that had to leave the band. Then brought in Howard for most of the albums and then went back to Jesse when he got his issues worked out

I love Dio, and his tenure in Rainbow is some of my favourite music.
But hot take, I've always thought this cover is better. I think it's the crisper, modern instrument sounds.
As someone who not only grew up to Dio in the 80's and even named one of my cars "Ronnie James," 😆 I can tell u that RJD loved to influence people. So many musicians tell stories of him being so kind and offering helpful suggestions. I'm sure he not only enjoyed this version but is looking down and loving the fact that so many people are still discovering him, hearing his music for the first time and using it as inspiration to continue to create. Raise the horns for RJD 🤘😝🤘

Nice tribute to the legend...Ronnie James Dio. Got to chat with him a couple of times after shows in my hometown back in the day. Always had time for his fans and took a genuine interest in what we thought. He's sorely missed.

Kill Switch Engage is pretty amazing live I saw them on a Co Headline tour with Lamb Of God in 2013 Testament & Huntress opened for them
