Thank you for finally doing this song! I've been requesting this song on every AIC video for the last couple of years, please do "Rotten Apple" next! Absolutely one of AIC's best songs, and the bassline hits like a freight train! Great reaction as usual guys! 🤘🤘🤙🤙
Smoke Dog spitting facts. Alice in Chains are the Kings of Grunge. This song was on the Last Action Hero soundtrack. They had another song on that soundtrack called "A Little Bitter." It is an underrated banger which I strongly recommend you check out.
@@TurkeyRoo as a band AIC was the best , that includes soundgarden , chris cornell great in his ownright , but band wise AIC was the best , harmonies , songs
@@soundbreak7 we'll have to agree to disagree. To me, there wasn't enough variety in AIC's sound. Yes they have more "memorable" melodies in their most popular songs like Flood, Man in the Box etc, but SG's albums had a wider range of melodies, sounds and styles, so that makes them the better band overall IMO. Matt Cameron is one of the greatest drummers ever, CC probably THE greatest rock singer and Thayil an incredibly unique guitarist who you can listen to two notes and know it's him playing. Just a step above AIC. Although this is a bit like comparing great sportsmen. Is there really a point? No, we should just be thankful for what they've given us and admire their work.
@@TurkeyRoo yep , 2 great bands just a matter of opinion , to me AIC had a ton a of variety , with albums like SAP and Jar of flies , Layne Staley to me is as good as anyone as a singer , and ive seen both live , jerry C , great player and singer and amazing song writer , but like you said , thankful for both great bands
FINALLY....your AIC journey has led you to this song. One of my favorite AIC songs! "What the Hell have I?" Is the starting lyrics for Sickman "What the Hell have I? Thousand eyes, a fly..." 🤘
Last Action Hero was one of my favorite movies growing up, I've watched that movie more times than I can count! My favorite movies as a kid were The Sandlot, The Goonies, Last Action Hero, Heavyweights, and the original Jurassic Park. I was born in '92, currently 32yo. Shit man, time flies lol.
Absolutely! Although I adore Layne and that era I really wish a lot more would give William a chance. As you say he is a great singer, and to add to that he has never tried to replace Layne. All of their albums with William rocks
That song was on the Last Action Hero soundtrack, one of the best soundtrack ever . Tons of great songs from many bands, Alice In Chains have 2 songs on it, What The Hell Have I and A Little Bitter. On this you have AC/DC with Big Gun, Tesla with Last Action Hero, Megadeth with Angry Again, Anthrax with Poison My Eyes and even Cypress Hill with Cock The Hammer just to name a few.
This was one of the first Alice In Chains songs recorded w/ bassist Mike Inez in 1993 (Inez replaced original bassist Mike Starr, who was fired that year because his he+++n addiction was affecting his playing. Mike Starr passed away in 2011 from a prescription drug OD) While Alice In Chains were touring on the 'Dirt' album in 1993, they got an offer to record songs for Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie 'Last Action Hero' soundtrack... They contributed 2 songs to the soundtrack album - "What the hell have I"... and "A little bitter". The movie bombed at the box office but the soundtrack album was a hit. It also included stellar non-album songs by AC/DC ('Big Gun')... Anthrax ('Poison my eyes')... Queensryche ('Real world')... Megadeth ('Angry again') ... Tesla ('Last action hero')... etc. People speculated that Layne Staley was upset after bassist Mike Starr was fired from Alice In Chains in '93... Starr was Layne's drug buddy and he felt extremely guilty that his co-dependency on he+++n got him ousted from the band. Before Mike Starr passed away, he claimed that he was one of the last people to see Layne Staley alive at his Seattle apartment in 2002 ... Apparently, Layne was upset that Starr had to leave that day and told him not to come back if he left... He was out of his mind on drugs by that point.
Layne Staley was such a once in a century talents that his people loved him no matter what and put up with a downward spiral while their hearts were breaking.
Morning guys...Happy 4th to you my Favorite reactors... hope you both have an amazing day celebrating your Freedom, may you experience a fraction of the joy that you bring to me ❤🤍💙
The AIC song "Your Decision", which y'all should react to, appears to be written about a topic y'all got into near the end. Y'all brought up how Jerry was doing what he could to help Layne and Mike through their addictions, but in the end it was their decision whether to fight it and get help before it was too late.
Good July 4th morn from New England Oh man this is a deep cut I'm surprised you guys are doing this tune As a drummer I love playing this song and Sean Kinney was a huge influence on my own playing bc his playing has more swing than an adult film star at a Hollywood party 😮😅😅 RIP LAYNE AND MIKE STARR HOPE HOPE YOU FOUND THE PEACE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR ✌️🤘😎🧐
Among my very top AIC songs ever. All my fave AIC tracks have Jerry’s formula of dark, ominous verses followed by a rocking chorus. When I was living in a college dorm, guy across the hall had that ‘Last Action Hero’ soundtrack (Schwarzenegger film) on CD. I knew AIC had 2 tracks on it, so I paid him $10 and he gave it to me.
0:02 You guys need to check out Church of Misery. They're a Japanese blues-metal band that sing about crime/murder cases throughout history. For those who might be deterred by language barrier, they're singing in English. Great band. Cool tunes. 0:26 AIC had a shirt that was Alice wrapped in chains. The back said "What would Mr. Brady think?", or something along those lines.
I remember this being on the Last Action Hero soundtrack along with Megadeth and some other awesome bands. What an amazing soundtrack. Love Alice In Chains!❤
This was made in 1993 for the Last Action Hero Movie Soundtrack so it was 3 years before the Unplugged. Layne had a lot of different looks & hairstyles through the years & pink hair was 1 of those looks. Also this song & another song on the soundtrack are the first new songs recorded with new bassist Mike Inez(Old Bassist got kicked out of the band)
Jerry's tone is unassailable. He's a guitarist that can make his instrument cry. This is a classic cut from them that falls through the cracks too often. Jerry has a new single out, Vilified. New album in October 🤘
HAVE YOU GUYS REACTED TO PEARL JAM'S "DO THE EVOLUTION "? THE ORGINAL MUSIC VIDEO. LOVE ALICE IN CHAINS AND MAD SEASON. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!! YOU GUYS ARE VERY ENTERTAINING!! 😊💗🔥🤘✌️
And, "A Little Bitter." They were immediately recorded after Dirt and with their new bassist Mike Inez. Please do "A Little Bitter" too. Although there isn't an official video, Mike Inez did a video playing his bass slightly amped over the playback. The audio isn't perfect, but it's uber cool bc you can clearly hear/see Mike play. There's a reason why "What the Hell Have I" and "A Little Bitter" - both from The Last Action Hero soundtrack - are on AiC's compilations.
Hey, this is cool like your guys channel man and just so you know, the story goes … one of Laynes moms boyfriends was a detective studying the green river killer case and Layne would go through his notes and see photographs of some wicked shit so there’s a connection there 😮😮😮
Awww yeah! Top-tier AIC! This one and A Little Bitter both appeared on the Last Action Hero soundtrack and are both super underrated tracks. Just super heavy, weird, grunged out greatness. If you're interested, there's also fantastic songs from Megadeth and Anthrax on there. Definitely some BANGERS on that ST.
Seeing your Facelift t-shirt draws a beautiful smile in a second. Seeing them react to Alice disconnects me from every bad thought, thank you for giving me these minutes of joy and enjoyment. And what song did they choose ⚡️🌙🎶
Jerry's solo stuff is very good, too, and worth checking more of out. I think you've done a couple of his songs, but his most recent album, "Brighten" has some excellent tunes, including the title track, "Siren Song," "Black Hearts and Evil Done," and a haunting version of Elton John's "Goodbye."
I was watching someone reacting to the movie Last Action Hero the other day and this is one of the songs on a great soundtrack. There is also a cool AC/DC song, that doesn't appear on any of their studio albums, call Big Gun you would love.
Post reaction comment: You guys give us fans and subscribers of this channel their moneys worth, I look forward to uploads, live streams, and reactions on this channel. You guys are doing everything right! Keep up the hustle, we're with you! DEUCES ✌️
Friends would stand in front of Layne's place beat on his DOOR, if you weren't one of his dealers, or "using buddies/ "Fairweather Friends," Layne wasn't answering
Jerry is the master of dissonant melodies. You guys are missing out on The Warning I'm telling you. I'm sure you've seen them in the media by now. There's good reason for it.
You guys should really dig into some of Jerry's solo work. Jesus Hands, Devil By His Side off of the album Boggy Depot, or Psychotic Break, She Was My Girl, Angel Eye's off the album Degradation Trip would be some I'd recommend.
Totally agree with Smoke, AIC are the kings of grunge. Glad y’all did this song! You should check out Mad Season. Supergroup with Layne, so good! Bluesy rock, I really think you would like them. Artificial red live at the Moore. Any of the live at the Moore videos are superb!
Great song, great band! Lots of great guitarists out there, but Jerry’s guitar playing is so unique. He often uses drop D or drop C sharp, uses some really cool bends, and will slow the tempo down right before hitting you with a crippling riff. I just love his style! He’s definitely one of my faves! ✌️
You all owe it to yourselves to give their newer stuff a chance, the black gives way to blue album is fire. Never got a chance to see them live when Layne was alive but have seen them twice with William and they’re incredible
I mean, Layne was the one who pushed Jerry to sing more. Not sure if I'm getting the wording right, but in an interview, Jerry said Layne told him, "They're your songs, man. Sing them."
Style Layne was more crimped red hair than the pink. Jerry is very talented too for many reasons, but Layne stood out because he just did with that 'it' factor that some ppl just have automatically along with all his talents too. And, Yes they Are the kings
The name Alice in Chains comes from a joke that Layne had (I believe) about dressing in drag and playing their music. I also have heard that was the name of Layne's band before Jerry convinced him to be in his band and they just took it. It's something close to that
No one reacts to this song and it's one of my absolute favourites - thank you, guys!
Thank you for finally doing this song! I've been requesting this song on every AIC video for the last couple of years, please do "Rotten Apple" next! Absolutely one of AIC's best songs, and the bassline hits like a freight train! Great reaction as usual guys! 🤘🤘🤙🤙

One if the best tribute songs ever off of one of the best comeback records ever
With Elton John on piano!
keep puttin out more alice in chains pleaseeeee
🎉
This is my favorite ALICE IN CHAINS ⛓️ SONG, "A LITTLE BITTER" is really good too, both from LAST ACTION HERO soundtrack
“What you give is not alive

Your soul served on a plate
Throw it away”
Happy Birthday Smoke Dog! 🤘

a lesser known diamond from AIC. One of my favorites!

Very trippy feel
Underrated AIC song, love the riff 🔥🔥🤘

Love Hate Love live at the Moore. Is a must watch
You guys need to react to Frogs-Alice in Chains. Both the studio and live version. It would be amazing to see you guys' reaction.

Alice in Chains is easily the best bang of the 90s, smashing pumpkins and STP round out the top 3
Song just flows...so big
Way to kick off the 4th!🤘
You guys have gotta return to Mushroomhead! Solitaire Unraveling is an excellent choice and it has a music video too. 🤘
It’s the grammatically correct way of saying “What do I have?”
Absolutely 🔥 AIC 4eva
Friends would stand in front of Layne's place beat on his DOOR, if you weren't one of his dealers, or "using buddies/ "Fairweather Friends," Layne wasn't answering
Yup that shit was sad, dude wouldn’t even answer the door for Sean or Jerry because he knew they wanted him to get help.
Great harmonies
Jerry is the master of dissonant melodies.

I've always thought of it as an archaic way of saying What the hell do I have, like he's saying, I have nothing.
They’ve always considered themselves a metal band. Nirvana was a punk band. And soundgarden and Pearl Jam just considered themselves rock.
You all owe it to yourselves to give their newer stuff a chance, the black gives way to blue album is fire. Never got a chance to see them live when Layne was alive but have seen them twice with William and they’re incredible

Give the band, Mad Season, and the song Wake Up a shot. It was a side project that Layne was in.
Rock in power brother Layne
The unplugged...MTV had to adjust lighting cos his pink haired was unexpected.
Layne looks like Woody Harrelson in certain shots and angles!?!
You were on the right track with the olde English. Think of it as “what the hell (do) I have”
AIC - Sickman
Have you done Right Turn off of Sap by
Alice In Chains?
Style Layne was more crimped red hair than the pink. Jerry is very talented too for many reasons, but Layne stood out because he just did with that 'it' factor that some ppl just have automatically along with all his talents too. And, Yes they Are the kings
Go see AIC live with William. I promise you will not be disappointed. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is a mind-blowing album!
That chorus slams.
Vintage Alice
Goku "Black" has pink hair not Goku. Ul his outline is illuminated somewhat
Skinyard and Screaming trees next!
The name Alice in Chains comes from a joke that Layne had (I believe) about dressing in drag and playing their music. I also have heard that was the name of Layne's band before Jerry convinced him to be in his band and they just took it.
It's something close to that
