I hope Nugget is well soon! Our herd became a herd again today. We lost a cagemate to an infection last month. The rescue introduced us to someone new this afternoon.
I hope Nugget feels better. Our girl had an infection and she just finished her 2 week course of antibiotics and benabac. She also has a cyst on her ovary and a lump under her neck. The lump test was inconclusive for cancer. She’s acting better now after the antibiotics. She had loose stools, smelled bad and was urinating a lot.

My youngest guinea pig came home with an undetected respiratory infection. After a month she was sneezing so I took her in. Vet said it seemed like a nasal infection. Got her some meds and sneezing stopped. Two months later I'd heard on and off coughing but couldn't tell which one is was. I finally caught her coughing, her name is Callie, and she was lurching with each breath. Took her to our ER vet and found out after hours of doctors irritated that I wanted to hold her out of thw oxygen tank, and I was FINALLY told that she had severe pneumonia. Got her in meds and bought an oxygen tank for newborn animals, and rented an oxygen compressor. Two months of ao many more meds and a specialist, and so much money, she was able to join her friends again.
In April she turns one year old. She was given 50/50 chance of survival. No popping, no clicking, no issues at all. But it was touch and go for a while. She does have weaker lungs though. In her formative months ahe was severely ill after all. She's smaller than the others and has visible scarring on an x ray. But healthy as ever, eating and nervous like she always is, but sweet and snuggly as ever!
She coughs when our room is too cold and I have a small temp and humidity guage to make sure it's drier and warmer on my room.
I wish Nugget the healthiest recovery. Having a sick guinea pig is always stressful. But Callie weighs almost a pound now!
Hoping little Nugget bounces back quickly. She looks in good spirits. Glad she's eating nothing worse than syringe feeding.

I went to the emergency vet outside opening hours last week because my piggie had breathing issues. She got antibiotics and pain medication, total price 260 euros.
Not going could have lost me my friend a little too early. Now she should be okay. She is 4.

Get well soon Nugget! All of the others were so happy to see her. Wilby definitely was very concerned about Nugget. He kept going up to her smelling her, kissing her on the lips and staying near Nugget. Most of them seemed to like the baby carrots. Wilby was interested in it as well. It’s amazing how they all knew Nugget was not in the cage and was not feeling well. All smelling her but Wilby was extremely close on her smelling her butt and mouth. ❤all so smart to recognize she is not feeling well and she was out for a bit. 🙏🏼 prayers 🙏🏼for a quick recovery ❤️🩹 Nugget. Oh kleines Nugget! Ich schaue Deine Videos schon so lange und erinner mich gut an Nugget als Baby. Alle Daumen sind gedrückt, dass es „nur“ eine Blasenentzündung ist. Bei meinen Schweinchen hab ich gute Erfahrung gemacht mit Uroplex, zusätzlich zum Rodicare Uro. Das sind kleine Pellets, die scheinen gut zu schmecken und sie vermehren auch die Harnmenge. Kann man einfach mit zum Futter geben. Meine Schweinchenbande und ich wünschen gute und schnelle Besserung und alles liebe! 🌻

One of the reasons I didn't get new piggies after my last one had to be put down, I was not strong enough dealing with constant vet visits anymore 😢 Sick piggies are so sad, I hope Nugget makes a full recovery!
It is so draining and sad.
Past trauma can make vet visits so hard. I remember when we had to do an IV, that was tough.
Take it one day at a time.

Fresh cranberries is great to prevent a urine infection, cut the cranberries in half around 3 or 4 once a week, hope this helps keeping your piggies from getting infection urinary.

As prey animals, guinea pigs don't naturally live this long, generally they've been gobbled up by a predator long before reaching the age that they do in captivity as a pet. So, yes, she's older and things are going to start going wrong. I really hope you can get her past this hurdle so you can enjoy this precious Nugget a while longer.
