The high expectations from Oklahoma was there, I believe Texas tech was the biggest surprise that year. Once Texas beat ou. That set the tone that year for the Longhorns. Texas played the one of the toughest stretch that year, ou, Missouri, osu, then tech. Not to mention UT had to beat atm. Which they did big. Unfortunately the BCS went off on “style-points” such BS! Texas was still considered the best team in the country by many, but the BCS formula did not. They still controlled their own destiny… kind of, they just didn’t have that lights out game they needed
Don’t forget. USC got robbed too. They had one of the best defenses in the nation with guys like Brian Cushing, Rey Maualuga, Clay Matthews, Taylor Mays…etc. There was no way the BCS wanted them to play against OU or Florida.
