    idc what anyone says. i am a georgia fan (so i am completely unbiased in this).. this is the greatest game i have ever seen. two great teams matched against eachother fighting for a big 12 representation in the national title against florida. the game even had a climactic plot and came down LITERALLY to the last play of the game and they had the CRAZIEST fans ever. just hands down best game ive ever seen.

One thing that I found funny about Leach was that he had the same expression on the sidelines whether winning or losing. A unique individual if there ever was one. This game was his signature win. Mike Leach will be inducted this fall in the Texas Tech hall of honor so it will be very emotional here in Lubbock this fall. Leach was wrongly fired by the TT administration. @sboudreaux27 naw. A full strength Texas team would've beaten UF. Same with OU. But without Demarco Murray & having to utilize Chris Brown as a 3 down back against a full strength UF...OU was doomed. Rewatch that game & see that OU got into the redzone a few times without scoring...but only because they became 1 dimensional without Demarco. UF deserved that 'ship as they were a great team...but OU was shorthanded & that deserves recognition.

    I was there, so it was cool hearing the commentary for this game for the first time. I charged the field after the game at 2:43:02 but I get why fans charged before it was over. Some told me they would have been trampled if they hadn't after the Crabby catch. For all the great offensive plays Tech did, what won it was their defense and Ruffin McNeil. This at a time when the Big 12 was a beast, not like today.

  • @OscarBravoUSA
    @OscarBravoUSA 10 лет назад +18

    This should not be labeled an "upset." Before the 2008 season began, Tech was seen as a contender for the Big 12 South title - Mike Leach, Graham Harrell, and Michael Crabtree made the cover of "Dave Campbell's Texas Football - while rebuilding UT was the team that could go either way. After the Horns played a soft early schedule, their victory over number one Oklahoma propelled them to number one. Even a number one-ranked team can be overrated.

This game is so important; when a Leach Air Raid offense toppled the #1 team, without elite talent overcomes a D stacked with guys like Earl Thomas and Brian Orakpo; the Revolution was here to stay. Urban Meyer's Spread to run Tebow, Vince Young's Texas, was Spread to Run Read Option; it was still the old Win with Defense and Run Game; and superior talent at both. Leach's Air Raid is how you can overcome glaring talent disparities.

    Texas Tech was actually ranked #2 after this win until a couple weeks later they lost by 44 points to Oklahoma. If that team would’ve made it to the national championship, they would’ve had a good chance to beat Florida, and I’m even saying this as a Gators fan. Oklahoma was definitely a more favorable matchup than either of these Texas teams.
