Same here, I was a freshman at Baylor visiting Lubbock for the first time that night. Stormed the field and transferred the the hub city next semester. Best decision of my life.
I was a Junior and on the same end, about 10 rows up on the side. Not only was this game the most incredible I've seen, but even more satisfying because every year up to that point, Texas always stomped us no matter how good we were. To finally take them down - in this fashion nonetheless - was indescribable. So glad to have that memory.
This was the greatest night to be in Lubbock. Perfect Storm of Rivalry, playing a national #1, Halloween weekend and storming the field. What a game and what memories. 4th Street was wild.
Can you believe that was my first day in Lubbock ever. A friend was like oh we got to go to this game. Never heard of Lubbock, didn’t watch college football. It was absolutely wild.
That final play is legendary in of itself. Michael Crabtree's catch is forever immortalized in college football history. That crowd went bat sh*t crazy.
I remember watching that game with my mom. ( Rest in peace mom ) I was sitting down really not sure we were going to pull this off and it happened, the catch. I swear I sprung up from that couch in the sitting down position and landed on my feet. It was one of the most exciting endings to a football game I've ever seen. A great moment in sports. The whole country was watching. A great moment for Texas Tech.
WTD Productions hahahaha no, I live in Austin, and trust every longhorn remembers Blake Gideon. That's his legacy right there, ship and colt didn't deserve that smh hahah
I remember standing around the end zone for that last kick off, everyone around me in agreement that we rush if they get close to scoring, penalty be damned. We protect that house. Still the greatest sports memory of my life, will never be topped.
Everything about this game was amazing. Texas Tech coming out of nowhere as a legit title contender, college gameday going to Lubbock for the first time ever, Bob Knight saying "I deeply hope we beat their asses" and Lee Corso firing the guns, to the slow start where everyone thought it would be a shootout to the unbelievable ending and that catch by Crab that will forever be immortalized. I was still in high school having to watch the first quarter from my phone at work until i could get home to watch the rest. I swear I almost lost 3 fingernails from chewing while watching this. One of the many reasons why college football in the late 2000s was the golden age for me
This is the game that started my love for college football...even tho I was a big Texas fan and this game was devastating it showed me that anything could happen between those lines
i still remember this game. it was the first year i started watching CFB and it never disappointed. Michael Crabtree was really put on the map of great receivers in this year after this game
How did they change the call on that illegal block in the back on Shipley's punt returned for a TD? That was clear as day. Even Shipley thought for sure it was coming back
I remember watching this, when crabtree made that final catch to score we were speachless! My bro in law loved it tho since he's a tech fan. It was the begining of texas not being able to wrap up and take players down.
The Big 12's best year in their history. They were absolutely loaded and I'd argue they were better than the SEC and BigTen this year. If McCoy didn't get hurt against Bama, Texas probably wins that game.
Just curious why tech kicked the extra point at the end of the game instead of going for 2 too make it a 7 point game just in case Texas would have pulled off a miracle at the end and would have won with an extra point
Late but idk Maybe they were playing it safe because if they missed the 2 point, then had Texas got a TD, Texas would win without a need to kick the extra point At least with the extra point being the decider of the game, whether Texas would've won or the game go to OT, there's a possibility of a miss because of the pressure with the game on the line. I've seen many great kickers fold in that situation, especially on the road at your rivals house.
The fact that I watched this whole video shows how far I've come. This one hurt for 12 years. Losing to Bama doesn't even come close, McCoy probably would've won it for us if he didn't get hurt, but that's a big IF
I was like a lil kid when I first saw This game now im a senior in high school and I’m finna be a student a Texas tech soon even tho my dreams of playing football at tech didn’t come true at least I still can attend tech hey I might can be a walk on
This game got me so pissed cause we deserved to go to the championship game and we where gonna win but this was back in the day where if u lost your season was over
As a UT fanatic this loss was bad. From the dropped Shipley bomb early on. To Colt basically gift wrapping seven points. To Gideon dropping a int late in the 4th. Texas was the best team in the Big 12 that year without a doubt. We would have been in the championship game although we made it the very next year i don't think that team was as good as this one but man what a ride
What if Blake Gideon didn't drop the interception before the Crabtree touchdown?
ruclips.net/video/JfWTCN7YQ7M/видео.html
They would win.
Texas plays Florida for the National Championship
What if Shipley had caught that pass early on?
Show the Nebraska vs Texas game when Suh single handedly was wrecking the whole game and Nebraska got played by the refs and time keeper

This was my freshman year at Tech. I was in the South end zone. Best sporting moment of my life
Justin Barsotta wow!!! that had to be amazing

Then you went to Norman.... ;)
I bet that was awesome. Best sporting moment of my life was two weeks later in Norman
"Got the big man, CRABTREE PULLS FREE, AND TOUCHDOWN RED RAIDERS WITH A SECOND TO GO"
I don't care about either team but that call was amazing
Agreed. A call for the ages
naw lol
Any games Oklahoma losses
Easily one of the Top 10 calls of any sport, all time.... and I'm not a Texas fan, Go Bucks!
It was considered one of the 10 greatest football games in college football history.
Michael Crabtree forever immortalized in college football history
The ending play amazes me every time I watch it
Forever!!!!
I love him in nfl
All because the freshman corner tried to strip the ball instead of making the tackle.
RebelTEXAN 281 He was falling back trying to grab him. His momentum was pushing him out an Crabtree is a monster so I could imagine

Graham Harrell was the QB for Texas tech. He is one of the most underrated college quarterbacks of all time.
Nitrodak Randomness facts
That is true he was perfect that game
Now hes the offensive coordinator for USC
he was a qb? watchin this reel i thought he was a statue
He was OP on NCAA football 2008
That final play is legendary in of itself. Michael Crabtree's catch is forever immortalized in college football history. That crowd went bat sh*t crazy.
No joke, this was the 1st college game I've ever watched, and wanted to watch way more football games because of this game.
Funny you say that this was the first day I’d ever been in Lubbock. And first college football game. I had no earthly idea what was going on 😂.
I was right behind the goal when Crabtree made that amazing catch. Time literally slowed down it that moment.
Same
Me too man! I was behind the goal and time did slow down! Unbelievable experience.
I still think 2008 was the greatest year in college football history
2007 was better
I agree!
2005 was the best
close. 05 was sick as fuck tho

I rushed the field in Lubbock that night. If I ever experience something half as amazing as that game in my life again I'll die a happy man
so sick - rushing a field is still on my bucketlist
Cool man. Looks like we shared that moment. I almost fell down while rushing. One of the greatest environments i have ever been apart of.
did you rush it all three times?
Same!!!!
I used to live near the stadium... It was a crazy night I remember people riding in the back of their truck screaming

Games like these are the reason why I love college football and football in general. Keep up the good work harris
Having been at this game, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in sports
I have watched this game numerous times and it still gets me choked up.
This game will go down as one of if not the best Texas Tech football games of all time!
i feel like Gideon's missed INT is always overshadowed....MY GRANDMA COULD MAKE THAT CATCH 🙃
It honesty is! No idea how he missed it
WTD Productions hahahaha no, I live in Austin, and trust every longhorn remembers Blake Gideon. That's his legacy right there, ship and colt didn't deserve that smh hahah
Not by Texas fans. UT fans still give that dude hell.

He got death threats for that & contemplated suicide & stuff after. Crazy how much this game can take a toll on kids.
I remember standing around the end zone for that last kick off, everyone around me in agreement that we rush if they get close to scoring, penalty be damned. We protect that house. Still the greatest sports memory of my life, will never be topped.

A lot of BCS implications games in that 08 season forever a classic season
Oh this game was fucking amazing, I'm 2 minutes in and I can't wait to relive it
I cried real man tears that day
Am I the only one who remembers watching this game when they were young, but totally forgot about that Gideon near int at the end?
Crabtree the goat but as a kid I cried when the game happen because my blood is burnt orange
This game, by far was the best game I have ever seen!!!
loved everything about this game, teams, upset, scoreboard, commentators
Rewatching this all these years later nearly brings a tear to my eye...

Always remember we passed on King Crab for Hayward Bey 🤣. 😅😢. I remember this game very fondly!
That was a hell of a game I was there to see it all happen. Never seen a more exciting game.
I remember watching live. I went crazy after he made that catch
One of the greatest events, and environments I've ever been a part of, hands down. I'll always remember being at that game. I was lucky to be there.
That catch made me want to play football
I remember this game like it was yesterday. Lubbock Texas Native and our city was lit that whole night!!! I lost my voice! #GunsUp 👆🏽

One of the greatest games in college football history.
Crabtree was the 🐐🐐🐐🐐
It was my first day in Lubbock, so amazing. We’ll get back there in football one day.
I knew the play I never knew the chaos that happened after the touchdown until I watched this 😂
One of the greatest games I've ever seen.. So underrated though..
To see my guy Mike Leach on the sideline brought back great memories. You are missed Coach! Swing your Sword ☠️ 🏴☠️
The Big 12's best year in their history. They were absolutely loaded and I'd argue they were better than the SEC and BigTen this year. If McCoy didn't get hurt against Bama, Texas probably wins that game.

What a classic as a Texas fan I was stunned but man my horns left it all out on the field

The fact that I watched this whole video shows how far I've come. This one hurt for 12 years. Losing to Bama doesn't even come close, McCoy probably would've won it for us if he didn't get hurt, but that's a big IF
Colt mccoy and jordan shipley what nostalgia hearing them two names😭
Dropping that interception perfectly explains why Blake Gideon had no professional career, but Earl Thomas balled out in the NFL.
I was like a lil kid when I first saw This game now im a senior in high school and I’m finna be a student a Texas tech soon even tho my dreams of playing football at tech didn’t come true at least I still can attend tech hey I might can be a walk on
No one ever gives Tech credit for leading 99% of the game. They simply outplayed UT in every aspect.
Georgia vs Alabama 2012 sec championship
Beau_Sauce_ God he only posts a game to remember for bama if they lose, so no lol
Everybody talks about Crabtree and for good reason but Byron batch was amazing 😎
Baron Batch
Funny connection, Earl Thomas was in this game and was on the same team as Richard Sherman when he got that breakup in the NFC Championship
I had goosebumps when Brett Musberger said Crabtree pulls free
Damn what a game
RIP Mike Leach, probably the best performance of any of his teams over the years right here
You need to do the 2009 big 12 championship Texas vs Nebraska
This shit still hurts!!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I still think this is the best texas vs texas tech game ever
This game got me so pissed cause we deserved to go to the championship game and we where gonna win but this was back in the day where if u lost your season was over
Techs offense reminds me so much of the Patriots offense.
congrats on 100k

Greatest win ever for Texas Tech..
