Just a good tip I always bake the first layer of pie crust by itself (the bottom piece) just a few mins, before adding the vegetables so that the bottom isn't just mush
Lol pie over board but sam don't care looks yummy thank you for the awesome recipe I love chicken pot pie and you make mostly healthy recipes I love that about your cooking God bless
I will surely try this, but I will use your no-fail oil crust, which bakes up like a dream every time. I buy chicken on sale, and pressure cook it in salted water. Then I shredd and clean it, pack in freezer bags, and I always have shredded chicken ready to go. I love the way you show cooking as it really is...the falling slice of pot pie is something like what always happens in real, daily cooking.
Carolyn , I don't think you'll be disappointed with this recipe. Personally, I like the taste better than any I've made or eaten. I think the addition of the poultry seasoning makes a big difference....just don't overdo it!! TFW God Bless, Linda
Hi Renee, If it had some white sauce and home made pie crust, I would say it was excellent. The taste was there but those two things were missed. Thanks for watching and commenting Renee.
I use dehydrated veggies very often. My celery flakes turn back into (what I think looks like) thin sliced celery when they rehydrate. I really like using them for soups, stews and pot pies. I have a hard time using up 3 celery hearts or a giant head before it goes limp and/or bad.
Hey Nikki, I HATE cooked celery but like fresh in other things. Isn't that strange? I liked the poultry seasoning and the powdered chicken base in this. They added to the flavor more than I thought. Try not to use premade pie dough...ugh!!
You can tell I preferred the veggies not the chicken...but YOU decide what ratio you want to use. The pie was really good and you and your hubby will like it! TFW and commenting God Bless, Linda
It's always hard to serve a warm chicken pot pie. They are always soft. I love this recipe. Sam 's a lucky guy & so are we to have you share your ideas. Have a great week x
Hi Allan, you know, I can't make a video without something happening. It's just an unwritten law something has got to go wrong..lol. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you had a good weekend.
Oh YUM! I love chicken pot pie. I make turkey pies all the time because I bought these turkeys back in October and I still have 3 turkeys in the deep freezer. Well I am awaiting the hubby is on his way home and I have sirloin tip roast beast, gravy, mashed potatoes and peas n carrots on warm holding for him. And I just put together a home made apple crisp to put in the oven to have with a scoup of vanilla ice cream for dessert. Your traditional Sunday dinner. He better get home soon cause I am hungry. And now after watching you make another one of my favourite foods I am starving. LOL.
Hi Ange, The pie was good but no white sauce. I thought the cream of chicken soup would make some sauce but it didn't. It did have a good seasoning taste tho. Thanks for watching and commenting.
i love chicken pot pie . i make mine almost exactly the same but no celery . last week i made 2 beef pot pies from a very large roast i made for my parents . we ate one the other day and 1 will be for maybe next month . your pot pie looked awesome , sam liked it , thats all that matters . have a great night n week ahead . hugs n xx p.s. i always let mine sit about half an hour to cool or Y E S ......they do fall apart . sweet dreams
Ooh, Chicken pot pie is my favorite thing to eat so I'm definitely going to try this! What's also good is putting the filling in a dish like this or 13x9 inch pan and put biscuits on top and let it bake, so yummy! Thanks again, Linda, your videos are always on point and awesome! Miah-Ann
Hi ....I forgot to answer one of your questions...I don't know what area of the UK my relatives are from...I should have asked my grandfather when he was alive or maybe my dad knew but I was so young I never thought to ask. I was surprised at how good this was. That little hint of poultry seasoning and the powdered chicken base just gave this such a hardy taste. I know you'll like it Essem! I enjoyed it very much! Have a great week!!!
Hands That Cook You know what I'm about to say don't you? I went looking for the powdered chicken base to see if it's sold here and I can get it (on-line rather than supermarkets, but at least available) Poultry seasoning's a different matter, when you look for it in the UK you get pages full of recipes to make it yourself! lol. I was looking at other recipes that needed a "quart can of home canned chicken" and realised the pint thing makes a BIG difference in the final result. Your quart is approx 0.94 litre ours is 1.13 litre, so following the instructions to add a quart of water, you end up with just watery soup, stew or sauce, it also accounts for why it's so hard to find quart jars over here, they're all 1 litre. 😅
Essem, I have nothing against the UK...I'd love to visit sometime but how can a country be so far behind in the food and spice industry? I couldn't live there and cook a good meal. What a frustrating way to live! Please don't be offended. I do wonder what the grocery stores stock there in the cooking and baking isles.
😂 We do have herbs & spices but not the same as yours lol. We have all the separate ingredients for the Poultry Seasoning but no-one makes the jar you have. When I was looking for the chicken base (I use a Knorr stock that's a kind of jelly, it's nicer than the stock cubes) I found Vegetarian Chicken Stock Base - isn't that just potty? You'd be able to cook just fine, just not the same ingredients.
Ok....well that's refreshing to know....why don't you make some of your own poultry seasoning? It will last a long time (has a good shelf life) I know vegetarian chicken stock is not chicken so I don't think that will work but I suppose it resembles the taste of chicken. It might be worth a try. If it wasn't so expensive to ship to you I'd send you some of them. Try Amazon...I know they sell spices but I don't know about the shipping expenses. It may or may not be worth the purchase.
Hi Denise, LOL...there were 2 reasons I used a bought pie crust. !) This is suppose to be easy and quick for all of you who don't make their own pie crusts and 2) These frozen pie crusts had been in my freezer over a year and I didn't want to waste the money I spent on them by having to throw them out. You know by now I'm a novice at making pie crust so I didn't want to complicate the video having all of you watch me make one. I've watched some amazing videos on making pie crust in the last 2 weeks so I think I have now turned the corner from novice to "pie crust guru, lol." Not really guru but a lot more confident. This is an excellent chicken pot pie, please give it a try and thanks for watching and "cute" remark.
Hi htncul, you're right about the sauce, there wasn't much. I was disappointed in that but the flavor didn't suffer any because of it. But I love the white sauce you get in most of them. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Hi Linda! I've never seen celery flakes before, probably because I've never looked for them myself. Good idea adding the water chestnuts. They will give a great crunch. Does the finished pie ever look amazing, with all those veggies. I'll definitely try this. Did Sam mean that your KFC restaurants carry pot pies?? I have lots of magazine and newspaper clipping from myself, and loved ones that passed. My sister died when she was only 29. She got married when she was 23, no kids. Like me, she had to learn how to cook when she got married. We didn't learn at home. I hadn't realized what a sweet tooth she had! Anyhow, I love your recipe. It looks so wholesome and good. Take care and God Bless ~ Julia💚
Hey Julia!!! I have a big manila envelope of all the clippings I found in her home. This is one of those clippings. I use to see dried celery flakes all the time at the grocery. Then they disappeared and replaced with celery seed. Last year by accident I found celery flakes again so I bought a jar. I hope they aren't taken off the shelves again. You can see by this video, I prefer the veggies over the meat. I love vegetables!! In any case, this really is a delicious pot pie. The addition of the poultry seasoning and the chicken base gave it such a good full bodied taste. I hope you try it Julia. I know you and your family will like it. So good to hear from you and hope we talk soon! God Bless, Linda Oh, btw, our kfc's do carry pot pies!!!
You'll find this funny... I got the google+ notification on my phone, and it showed just the beginning of your reply to me. . All I saw was that you have a really big man. Lol. There is one place here that might sell celery flakes. You are right, my family will love this. Blessings, take care of yourself!
I'm trying this tonight! THANK YOU BOTH! YUM!!! Can't wait to see your others~ Best to you and yours Love~
Just a good tip I always bake the first layer of pie crust by itself (the bottom piece) just a few mins, before adding the vegetables so that the bottom isn't just mush

Should of let Sam eat with his fingers, could of just asked for shovel..........
could you make Beef Pot Pie this way?
Yes, beef the same way without poultry seasoning and WITH beef enhancing additions. TFW God Bless, Linda
Another perfect recipe. Or it feeds 4 hungry people (sounded more delicate than greedy people! 😄) that would be me.

Do you think celery seed would work instead of the flakes?
Hi Shauna, yes celery seed will work but the taste will be stronger so start with 1/4 tsp. and taste. Good luck!!
Thanks!
Made this last night, It was great!
I wondered the same thing. Thanks for asking
Not much sauce in it, looks like a very quick to make meal if your in a hurry!
