Ingredients:
1 stick butter
1 cup flour
2 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp salt

Anytime I see a “pot pie” with no bottom crust it reminds me of another version of cottage pie and Shepard’s pie basically. Like ma’am, that isn’t a real pot pie. Lol

Excellent variation of the recipe. I said it before and I'll say it again Miss Chris can work I can of crescent rolls. I've learned how to extend my left overs with these recipes. I'm getting two extra meals a week. I'm a single mother who's battling illness and the help has been priceless.

violet My mother used to freeze leftovers & make TV dinners from them. I do that to. Everyone gets a different frozen leftover. Kids thought it was fun.

If nothing else non-stick is available (that meshy non-slide shelf stuff), then just lay down a wet paper towel under your cutting board. Nothing worse than having the board slide around!
I just showed my 11 yr old son the end result and asked "would you eat this?" His eyes opened wide and said heck yeah, so I'll be making this in the next few days.

I came looking for you! Chris you never disappoint me! I followed your filling recipe perfectly. I made a pot pie using 9 inch pie pan. First attempt! Nailed it thanks to you!! Only difference I used the refrigerated premade round pie dough. I wish I could show you a pic. I’m so proud of it😂. You are amazing!!

A bit of flour on your rolling pin will help prevent dough from sticking.This particular style/brand of dough is a fabulous idea. Your recipe looks so good. I will try this one!Yum!

FitAngie you could use canned biscuits rolled out! That's what I did last night and it was wonderful, just a thicker crust which my family loved! All the best to you!

@@AussieAngeS hi. I just watched this. You could make biscuits and either make as a crust or just put as biscuits on the top. I'm from Tennessee and just spoke with my friend in Alice springs. There is a biscuit mix called Bisquick that can also be used. You could Google "Bisquick mix" for the recipe. Our biscuits are like your scones. I read your mother was ill. I hope she is better. I made this tonight and it came out so good granted I had to make two dishes one with plant based meat however both was a hit with my family. Everyone was going back for seconds and my husband went for more three times it was his first time having pot pie. 🥧

To help you out with your cutting board take a wet rag lay it down on your counter then put your cutting board on it and it'll keep it from sliding.

Mrs. Chris, you have done it again!! I fixed this pot pie last evening, and my whole family loved it (except for my 8 year old, but he is picky to the point where I’m wondering if he will ever grow out of it). This was very special because my youngest daughter (she’s now 20, and on her own) came over for dinner last night and she LOVES the way I prepare chicken breast and chicken pot pie is one of her favorite dishes. So, for once I was able to get her to come into the kitchen and learn how to prepare this recipe with me! This child never cooked even one time when she lived at home, and she moved out abt a year and a half ago. I always worry about how she manages...But she has taken to cooking, now that Mom isn’t at home with her to cook all the time. Thank goodness!
Anyway, it was really special for us. I followed your recipe, but did my sauce a little differently, and like you mentioned, you can cook the chicken any type of way, so I used my foolproof perfect chicken recipe (you start it on the stove top, with butter and oil in a frying pan, season and brown it for maybe 5-6 minutes and then simply finish it in the oven at 325 for around 20 minutes, it comes out PERFECTLY, and then you are also left with pan drippings), so I did modify the sauce using pan drippings and a couple of other shortcuts, but the end result was THE BEST, most delicious pot pie I’ve ever tasted!! Plus, I was able to show her how to make this so that she too can enjoy a weeknight version of one of her favorite dishes! It was a lovely evening. We finished the meal with your wonderful Pumpkin Pie, as well! This recipe was absolutely wonderful! She is all grown up and works all the time, and I was explaining to her that no matter how many “shortcuts” are taken, it is always SO MUCH HEALTHIER to cook at home, and so worth it!! She was amazed at the use of Crescent dough as a crust for this, and I of course did also brush it with melted butter when it was finished baking. I sent her home with a huge portion for her to have for lunch and some pumpkin pie as well!

Hey, just watched your video for the first time. Love your idea to use store bought crescent roll dough, saves time. I noticed and you mentioned that your cutting board kept moving because of your granite countertops. How you can get stabilization to the cutting board, use a damp dish cloth or damp paper towels under the cutting board, this really works. Try it. Keep up the good work!
