Taper down your use is the only way that worked for me, I know it seems counterproductive but if I went cold turkey it felt like I couldn’t breathe, I was scared if I went to sleep I wouldn’t wake up. It took about a week to completely get sober.
You did the right thing. I drank so much once I hallucinated for 3 days straight. Extremely frightening. When I got to that point there was no way I could even figure out how to get help... I'm starting to taper now. Alcohol can be ultra violent.
I drink Canadian club Whisky or vodka, do think switching to light beer would help, if so how long should I taper down for? I know you're not a doctor but just after some advice 😊
I did it at home, tapering with beer. Sounds like a stupid thing but if you REALLY want to quit drinking you will stick to the taper schedule. You still feel like shit, but you can function. Been sober for 8 years with ZERO lapse/relapses. These people saying you have to check into a rehab just want to profit from your alcoholism!
Been a day drinker for years .One month sober to day (1feb) at home.No withdrawal to mention no desire for alcohol.Just a regret over all the whiskey and red wine I have led go trough my body
Last year It took me almost 2 weeks to behave normal and all of my energy went off with shakiness and horrible dreams so much that it brought depression. For 6 months I kept my self far from alcohol since it's not for everybody. Now when I have a drink I make a point to consume low and if the symptoms show I taper it to keep myself sane and have fruits helped me along with carb diet. Point is just stay away from intoxication products.
Yes you can reduce safely at home, however you need to contact your local drug and alcohol organisation and speak to a professional who will tailor to meet with your specific case. They can also refer you to a detox as an in-patient.
rehab helps keep you in a safe sober environment and can help you learn about the addiction. goodluck on this journey, im terrified but it’s a necessity
Hi, it's usually reducing 2-3 units ever 3-4 days, however if you feel you are witnessing any withdrawal symptoms, you must drink to treat the symptoms. By this I mean slow until the symptoms have stabilised. I hope this helps, but please do seek professional support.
Day one: One beer as long as you can wait over an hour. Day 2-3: Then 3/4 can every hour then . Day 4-5one cup per (no more) hour till you’re finally coming down. Remember your drinking water and electrolytes at the same time with food if you can keep it down. Pancreatitis hurts, though this won’t work
You can do it at home. I did it and it was extremely horrible but after a week I felt ok again. After 2 weeks you should feel fine. The first three days are going to be like a bad trip but drinking water and staying in bed only to get up for bathroom breaks, smoking breaks and eating should get you through. What helps a lot is the thought that after three days, you WILL feel gradually better. It also helps to sleep with the help of benzodiazepam better known as valium or trancene (10mg max) just before you go to sleep. Remember it's only 5% of people who go insane while detoxing so you have a 95% chance of being ok. Good luck!
@@Stewpadaso4661 I stayed at home and binge watched comedy series. Laughing helps a lot with the anxiety and I avoided any human contact in real life until the constant feeling of dread subsided after 3 to 4 days. Also hold on the FACT that the anxiety WILL go away. Also take vitamin B pills and if you want to go to sleep, take a mild calming pill, prescribed by the doctor. Or if you happen to be a weed smoker, just smoke a bit of weed before sleeping but not too much.
Need to keep enablers away and have someone watching you. I'm babysitting the first week 2 ER visits we on day 3 and she got the delerium tremens. She has to quit completely
Im going to try by cutting down one week. Then tapering half then going to zero. Once I go zero for one month, I am hesitant to quit permanently ( Lets hope I can even get to zero for one month)
IDK if I was lucky, but it’s been over 9 months and I don’t crave a drop of alcohol, the key difference was that I didn’t suffer withdrawal after go’ogling and reading Steffon Barkload’s stuff, not even within the first 30 days after I quit and told no one, did not need AA meetings or meds either.

Don’t feel guilty if recovery was a one size cure all then we would have solved this years ago
Thanks for being real. This is exactly my symptoms right now. Trying to taper down. ❤ thank you for keeping it real.

Yes I’m on my week… so tired and my sleep schedule is all over the place plus from a concussion from being assaulted by a stranger at the bar.

the page you pasted is not working
All these videos say to go into rehab. But rehab = bankruptcy and has a months long wait list. So... not an option for all but the rich and famous.
Yeah it's bullshit this is just advertising
True😊
You can detox in the hospital.
Yeah hospital detox still costs money. I just follow the HAMS taper guide, just drop 2 drinks per day and have someone help you if you can
@@clayman117 so 2 drinks out of a fifth a day ... Wait I'm gonna have to measure out drinks. Sounds hard

Amazing. So what’s a real method because you are saying “money, money, money”

How did you deal with the anxiety? Please tell me

@@elrenato82 Thank you! It helps to know your not the only one that goes through this
This is terrible and misinformed advice
Hey can you tell me which day was the hardestfor you and from how months you were drinking please?
What if the dependent person is a Chronic pain patient?
No choice always alone
But the problem is when I try I get sent away
I'm going to try

It depends
I went to hospital to detox but have had several friends that did it at home. Horrible DTs for days.
@@GrimGrumBalls , no DTs include hallucinogens sometimes.
That's just weird. Most people don't sleep for the first three nights with out meds.
I’m in the hospital and they won’t Lee me leave
Top Norks
Sure maybe mess like volume cand be subscribed. Not every one can afford 20 grand for rehab. They would rather you risk deth than pay for rehab
ha, ha...it is not safe to detox at home? I agree sometimes, but most if not all these "detox centers" say that for $$$$ business.
Yeah but.....
False information
No, it's accurate. And people deserve to be helped.
