Try medically assisted detox I have similar history happened me once in 2015 I had two, (it's added danger severe ocd led to alcoholism for me) but not from alcohol libriums helpful avoid stress of any kind I relapsed unfortunately
Hey man I hope you feel better. How much were you drinking per day and for how long for? And did you quit cold turkey? On what day after quiting did you start getting the seizures? I have read that between the 48 and 72hour mark after quiting, it is the most dangerous time. A Doctor friend of mine advised that during this time of detox, one should watch for a racing heartbeat when being still.
@@nightide5468 I was drinking about two quarts of vodka a day, give or take…I decided to go to a detox facility. Needless to say it was the wise choice and have been sober ever since, mind you I was sober a year up to this last stumble. To answer your question I’ve always seized by the 5th day in a detox or short being discharged.
I'm currently detoxing from 16-18 units of alcohol (vodka) a day,I don't have access to healthcare but I do have some benzos. I'm currently 16 hours in I've had 50mg of diazepam in total as I've had seizures before whilst trying to detox can you give me any advice please? Thank you
Becky, I’m still pending my healthcare renewal and I’m looking for help as well.. I went 34 hours til this morning without a drink and with little to no symptoms at all. My hands had virtually no shake I could see, my bpm leveled back out to normal and I only had very light/ very brief occasional headache. I stopped at 34 hours and picked up my usual light drink choice of two twenty-four ounce 5% seltzers and had one just out of fear of the upcoming days if symptoms would come out of the blue. My current drinking habit before the 34 hours of abstinence was everyday or almost everyday of cutting down to 2-3 5% seltzers a day and and occasional bottle of red wine if I were looking to add to those for more “enjoyment” that day. I know you’re not a medical pro and I’m only asking you this because I have no healthcare currently available to go seek out medical help. Seeing as I have practically no symptoms when I drink lightly and can avoid cravings more naturally as of late, in your opinion, do you believe that I’ve been tapering well enough to have a safer route if I chose to actually commit and follow-through all the way with abstaining from alcohol cold turkey? The last time I drank or craved hard liquor that was not wine was more than a year and a half ago.
@@greentea2993it's not in Alcohol detox though. It can be high as 100mg spreaded for one day so you are safe for seizures etc almost 7 days with that amount.its called Benzo saturation
I had to have alcohol in my system 247 or would have died. I never even contemplated going to jail or breaking down in the car and running out or anything. Theres no question on the few occasions i ran out even an hour my entire system broke down brutally. Im sober thank god now after multiple detox and 1 year inpatient treatment. So much devine intervention. Should have been dead. Survived. Grateful.
@UnknownHumanOnline before I finally realized I was going to die, I was drinking a gallon of hard liquor a day. I literally had to be drinking around the clock or my central nervous system would crash. Of course I was killing it anyway but therein lies the paradox. Needing something to stay alive that's killing me! So medical detox was my only solution. No other way. Medical care and medication while I weened off the alcohol. It's was actually the easiest part of recovery. I was finally at peace getting free from the grip of booze. It can be done. I needed help. People I didn't even know saved my life.
@UnknownHumanOnline yes it was benzos which i had an addiction to years ago but desperate times call for desperate measures. The doctors and nurses obviously know exactly what to do and monitor vitals around the clock. Of course getting rest, nutrition and hydration finally was also key. A combined effort and my desire not to die from booze. Pride basically. I was wheeled in on my last detox, it took 4 to actually stick after a 4 year battle, but I couldn't stand upright or hold a pen to write my name. I was on my last leg. Peace to you. Hope you are well friend.
It’s very difficult but it involves extreme discipline. Just cut down by 1 drink a day of your normal amount spread over weeks - the willpower comes from not wanting the withdrawal symptoms that occur when stopping immediately. Set a limit and stick to it. DTs are no joke and on the other side of tapering you avoid that or even a potential stroke or heart attack ✌️
Actually jails can't leave alcohol withdrawal untreated. That's a liability on them if someone dies. They are always given medical treatment if it's bad enough.
Suffering from anxiety daily tried alot of different meds and drs smh alcohol def makes it worse took clonazapem for 2 years and got cut off cold turkey.....tense all the time in the shoulders neck and head feel anxiety alot nervous panic currently on desvenlafaxin 25mg

I think so. Both those meds have relatively short half-lifes. I wouldn't mix them WHILE drinking unless you know what you are doing and have experience. Maybe set a schedule (calendar type) for tapering. Everyone is different. For me that half amount less each day would be too quick. The last time i quit i felt some withdrawal symptoms even 23 days after my last six pack. My personal problem is that i now have 0 control when I'm drunk or moderately buzzed. Being sober and avoiding alcohol is not so much. The freaking physical dependency is the reason i "need" to drink right now. I've quit for varying times (including years) over the last 20+ years. I am really trying to control it now but am having more of a difficult time than ever now that I'm older and more worn down. Alcohol has been a blessing and a curse to be honest, so i don't want to quit "forever" but i need to try to end the physical dependency. Sorry, i didn't want to make this about me but guess I've been very lonely on this journey. I'm definitely also a DIY kind of person. In every way. I would highly recommend to anyone reading this to choose what works for them. If this doctor was in my area and i wanted to find a "detox" place, he would definitely be great choice. If you are able to control yourself while you drink, maybe you don't need meds. I would take maybe 1-3 months to withdrawal completely depending on how strong your dependency. For example if you currently drink 8 a day, go to 7 for a few days or until you feel no symptoms. Then 6,5,4 etc., repeating the process. The other way to do it is to increase the amount of days between drinking sessions (worked for me with beer last time, the 23 days). Switching to liquor and wine makes this more difficult for me now. It is not impossible for me to binge on beer, but the amount of liquid makes it much harder. I may have to go back to beer only for the most part.

It was prescribed to me when I went to the ER for alcohol withdrawal. Liberium is a life saver I wish more people knew about it
Well done, watching my hives inflammation fade day after day until they completely vanished was such a relief, I went with what I pointed out and within the first 10 days or so the urticaria was barely visible! I just go'ogled the latest by Shane Zormander and after 20 days my skin has never been healthier!
Not true that they don’t treat you in jail. That’s how I got sober after a DUI. The lawsuits would be insane if they let people die from withdrawal. Dumb comment.

Some people can do this, but you should talk with your doctor first, especially if you're prone to seizures. They can give you the best advice.

Gabapentin is mildly protective against mild-moderate withdrawal but won't prevent severe symptoms like seizures, DTs and/or coma.
