Just a correction on the X bar design, common way to do these over here are not actually crossing the bars but bend them so they meet in the center, and boxing the connection point.
idk if you still read these but you said u reply to comments if the have the reply button, sooooo. if you have to do a design like the x design, the piece that have to cut then continue, is it possible to make the diameter of that piece bigger then the piece you dont cut, and make it big enough so you could drill straight thru it, (instead of notching two diffarent pieces) then it would be still one piece then weld all the way around it. hopefully that makes sense but if not reply and ill try to explain it better...side note, im asking out of curiosity i dont have a car as of yet and have very little fab experience, but its just something i thought of, and i love the videos, im re-watching these because i find it fun, so keep it up!

Watch my video about welding the cage. The base plate is removed in the front and the cage gets to come forward and drop down allowing me to weld around all the joints.
It could be more dangerous if he doesn't have a helmet on and has no foam on the cage. If he gets hit from the side and his head is thrown into a solid piece of steel tube without a helmet I think you can conclude what happens next.
Also, in general, I always disliked that argument. If you don't have a cage, you head will still hit sheet metal. It's metal too, so why is a solid piece of steel tube worse than a solid reinforced piece of 16 gauge steel?
i am a welder by trade stick, mig and tig. i used to go ott on all the prep bare metal and that but you be surpised that you can still get a solid weld on most metals as the heat burns off most crap. rust, paint and even grease
+i am Puga Yeahhh but straight pipe and stripped interior = me yelling just to talk to the person next to me haha so I'm still on the edge about adding speakers cause I feel like they won't be loud enough to hear.

How did you get the 360 weld around the horizontal sill bar where it joins the main hoop? It looks really tight against the side of the chassis

He has a SFI approved padding. Also, his cage is tucked up so high, that with the harness on it's impossible for his head to hit any tubes.

No need. Most cars in japan too don't run hydros. Just a good cable and nice brake pads for the ebrake and you're golden.
