Project 240SX Le Drift Car - Ep. 1 | Getting Started

- Опубликовано: 17 сен 2024
- Basically, this video starts the second day after I bought the car. I bought it as you see in the video with a welded diff, coilovers, mismatched wheels and some other "goodies". The goal is to drift and build the car.
If the video seems a bit tedious it's because I wanted to include everything I did to the car so that way people understand how much work actually goes into these cars. Not like those videos that are 10 minutes long and do a whole show car build and make everything seem like a piece of cake and done over night.
Let me know what you think in the comments below :)

Man time has flown by I remember watching this episode the other year when in reality it’s been 8 years
It feels like I was 4 when I watched this . . . God damn . .
Man this is crazy this the guy who really introduced me to 240s him and haggard garage 😭 it feels like yesterday coming home from school watching these guys
Same here
Zip ties in the first episode...off to a great start ;D
Official HD They're a drifter's best friend dude!!!
im so jealous you're able to do this. i know nothing about cars but its my dream to fix up a car like this one day.
Metiri You don't need to know tooooo much for a basic , small overhaul I guess you call it but it's nice to know a little bit more
im already working toward understanding car a little better. :3 luckily i have a grandfather who's willing to help me when i start
Metiri Cool. The guy who made this video said that he learned everything from watching video's and stuff
That is what made me start pursuing this. I just grabbed a book on repairing cars. I'm excited and I'm so happy this guy has motivated me :D
Metiri What car are you gonna work on?
Cant believe I watched this 4 years ago and am starting my drift car 4 years later!
This should be called how to un rice your riced out s13
s13?😂😂😂😂
+QuantuMlapZiz its an s13...
+QuantuMlapZiz please leave
+QuantuMlapZiz rekt
+Erik R thanks for the back up
Brooo you lost like 87 horsepower removing the stickers smh
I’ve watched this whole build series so many times, honestly it’s like my therapy video, so thankyou man I’m going through a tough break up at the moment and I’m feeling pretty depressed and down in the dumps, losing all motivation to really do much, but watching you build series for some reason really helps me forget about all that shit and finds me motivation to do stuff again
Good start with your build, more people should do what you are doing, buying a foundation and making it the best of what you have and fixing what people have messed up before.
I feel like some ricer might have owned this car...
Do you have it yet?
Car customization done clean and right for once.. Glad this wasn't a "YOO LETS SLAM THIS SHIT AND DO SHITTY DRIFTS IN WET PARKING LOT!!! STICKERS FOR SPEED AND A REAR WING FOR DOWNFORCE.... DOWNFORCE FOR OUR SPEED!
Hahaha yea I'm not like that, thanks!
drifting slammed is a style man, the sport of drifting is all about style, if you dont like someone's style (aka slammed drift cars with stickers) be a true enthusiast and keep it to yourself btw you sound like a fucking dumbass
Right. Except he didn't get a wheel alignment after changing the ride height, the wheel spacers aren't strictly necessary and a waste of cash, he cut up the shell to tuck the harness (despite raising the height?!) etc. etc.
I like this video, but your comment is moronic, what's wrong and what's right, eye of the beholder. Douche.
Oh, and scraping the number plate! OH NO!
elementalfunk First off I do my own alignments and this was far from the end of the work being done on the suspension, and the car was not being driven on amidst doing the work. Once the car was ready, I did an alignment.
There were no wheels spacers here, they were hubcentric rings to properly displace the load of the wheel onto the hub.
The height was raised temporarily to aid in doing work on the car since it was easier to jack up and down and get underneath the car. Which is why the harness was tucked because the car was made lower after the work was done. As far as cutting up the shell, the metal taken out was ~2" worth on a seam. This is commonly done on 240's and not a single issue ever occurs from doing so.
This video was made to be taken lightly, sorry I wasn't able to completely rip off the bumper for you...
*****
Sorry I was more having a go at Graham Werner just to prove a point that everyone likes to modify in different ways (probably in a unnecessarily aggressive way). I have watched a few of this series now and genuinely enjoy it, especially because you are getting dirty and doing it rough. Keep up the good work, cheers.
That heat gun would have been valuable while rolling your fender. I am excited to see how this car turns out. I am shocked you don't have more views. This is good editing, informative and interesting.
lol 6 years ago
The only person on the planet that raised their fucking drift car
oh boy the piano in the beginning. erik satie is fantastic. i love his works.
I come back to this series every 2 years or so
Love watching these older videos
Really wish I still had my 240! Hopefully this spring I can pick up another one, by far the greatest car I've owned!
At first i skiped couple of your episodes but this time am gonna watch ever single one
Honestly I've watched your series of le drift car about 4 times and still haven't gotten bored of it. Love your vids man keep up the good work!!
Awesome man, glad you like it!
Came all the way back to see how much progress has been done
I remember watching this series and waiting for episodes to come out when I was 13. Hope your doing well. Thank you
Still happy to see this channel still up!
stance sticker = 1,000$ suspension. fact
Doing a video on it, disclosing such information, defeats the purpose of removing the sticker. He should've skipped that part.
Oh how far we've come... this is so much fun to watch 3+ years later :)
Thank God your music taste changed though lmao
@@333krook 3 years later and you were right
The de-ricing is coming along nicely!
very tasteful man the interior looks so on point now with such little work!
i really dig this build! i like how its not some professional doing it and how its you, makes you realize that really anyone with a passion and a bit of knowledge can do it!
Good base care to start with. Drifters love them.
Thinking about getting a 240SX myself, your videos are very comprehensive but still fast paced enough to be enjoyable to watch, well done mate!
John Scamson Thanks!
i cannot believe I've only just found this channel, this is such a refreshing video in a world that's all about slamming shit (not hating on slammed cars i love them as much as the next guy, it's just nice to see different content on yt)
Times were much simpler when I first started watching this build.
you could use fuel line cut on one side down the center and outline the metal you cut out for the harness. It will prevent the metal from rubbing through you wiring harness!
Not sure if it was previously mentioned, but you don't need to remove the bolts from the knuckle/coilover to adjust the height, just loosen off the lower locking collar and spin the body of the coilover down/up through the lower mount.
sweefu2 Yes I know how to adjust it. Just did it this way because I didn't have a coilover wrench and because of all the grit and dirt build up on the threads, threading the body up and down by hand was super hard. So it was just faster to unbolt it and turn the bracket rather than leave it bolted and turn the body. Thanks for the comment :)
Love that you cleaned it up. 👍 looks so much nicer!
Awesome first episode
This is actual real quality automotive content
OImg when he started painting the steering wheel, I almost crapped myself, then I realized that it was plastidip haha.
NICE! Another 240 saved from being a slammed POS. Keep up the good work!
Dude thank you I've been trying to find a car building series that is actually good
You've got great taste! I'll be watching the rest of these
"Obey..? How 'bout no."
Lmfaooooo
For the intake system, inlets that go through holes and into empty boxes are resonator boxes that are tuned to create phase-cancellation to reduce intake noise. This makes the intake system quieter especially at WOT. It's also pretty useless, I got rid of mine too.
Really cool video. I like the fact that I can relate to you more as I am also young and inexperienced. Really cheap and simple build yet I rather watch your series than some more well known guys with a bigger budget.
you lost so much HP taking those stickers off
No Wifi hahaha
No Wifi stickers= 5 HP
LOL 3:06 Time to hit the canyon, the non-paved part of it :P
Cant wait for the next episode!!!
"Grand canyon" gold!
Just so ya know you dont have to take the hub/knuckle off the coil over to lower and raise it. Just loosen the lowest ring and then you can spin the entire coil over with the tool on the top ring. super simple and you wont have to have an alignment every time you mess with the height.
I didn't have a coilover wrench which is why I didn't just loosen the lower collar and turn it down. I even tried by hand just turning it with the lower collar loosened but it ended up hurting my hands after a few turns because the threads were dirty and made it difficult to adjust.
Thanks for the comment :)
Not going to lie… i enjoyed this more than i thought i would. Solid effort :D
Man you rock ! It's a pleasure to watch this video !
9 years later and this still slaps
The struggle is real. Good vid man.
Bit of a throwback
The moment he drove up and hit the license plate i knew this is gonna be good to watch lol
i really like how he doesnt fuck up the car...he upgrades it in a stealthy and stock fashion
This is sweet man!! Just FYI, the air resonator box gives you HP via more constant air flow👍
Really enjoyed watching this video. Keep up the great work and I'm excited to see you get this thing sideways!
can't wait for episode 2
sup breh, an episode about removing decals, dope. what a long way you have come lol keep up the good work, ill be buying bushings soon, pce
HAHAHA Wine bottle holder that's funny. Crown Royal is le premium whiskey! Thanks for the video good stuff!
Soooo many hacks in my area asking 5k for a turd mobile like this. You have to spend a week undoing half the flair mods they put on! Anyway, great video and keep it up!
He did so much good to this car in one ep
watching the serie for a second time
Dude mad car
Iv been wanting a 240sx for soooo long
i centred my wheels on my 240 using just the lug nuts years ago plus have spacers - no failures.
I actually really enjoyed this and the cheesy music is awesome, keep it up :)
i really enjoyed the video. You have a really good style of doing them and i learned a good bit.
no.. license plate, itz okay... (backs up the car) KRRRRHH LOOOOL XD I laughed so hard for the first time, but then u go and do it all again... It really made my day :D
I didnt yet make it to the end part of your series but im so eager to see how this build turned out - I just wish i lived in us some times just bc. of the ridiculous pricetag for these cars :D
I love everything you did with this! taking off all the bullshit stuff and stickers, making it cleaner and better! Only part I didnt like was adjusting the coilovers in the front up! starting on part two now :)
Awesome videos, I just recently bought a 240 myself that I'm working on, videos are helpful, keep making them!
Nice Erik Satie at the beginning. Also, nice video haha
Nice job! I have a 92" coupe I have been wrenching on for a while.
That thing already looks awesome man you're awesome hoping to drive sth like that later:D
OBEY, how about no. hahahah
8 years ago??? Banger camera quality
Damn obey is fresh
Loving this series man, earned a subscriber!
Great video man. I'm helping my brother in law build a 240 right and we have the same harness issue. Thanks for the notch idea
You don't see many of these cars on the road
Mostly because they are a nightmare to fix and less space under the hood to work.
Low safety rating for 1992's
You won't see many people driving it
Maybe in the summer
Nice engine . Nice drive. Fun car to drive. My dad had one once .
Really digging the channel, you have a new subscriber
Underrated youtuber
On the hubcentric rings, you should have sanded the rust off of the hub vs. sanding the ring. Just for future cars.
Agreed
keep this up. reminds me of my 240sx
idk why but i think this is my favorite video of le drift car 1. keep up the good work man. og subscribe since rc devil
Michael Martinez Haha thanks :)
BLACK HOOD!!! for EXTRA Initial D statues!
You didn't even wear shoes at the end XD but great vid dude
Im just trying to think of the kind of person who owned this car before. I just started fixing up a 1985 Jeep CJ-7. May not be fast but its a lot of fun to drive.
Hub centric rings are useless if you have tapered lugs. I was worried about it for a second until I realized that myself. That might not be the case for everyone however. Also I think that box was bringing outside air into the engine bay. Perhaps something connecting all of that was missing?
Yes the wheel will center fine because of the tapered lugs but that's not the point of the hubcentric rings. The point of the rings is to place the load of the wheel on the hub and not on the lugs such as done with oem wheel set ups.
That box was missing a pipe connecting it to the air intake, but it doesn't bring in any air whatsoever as it's a box with no other hole. It's actual purpose is a resonator box which came from factory on the car and is meant to reduce engine noise.
That's about the going price I'm in SoCal Northridge and thank you for All your videos soo helpful I'm looking for one
+SwickedGT3 “SWICKEDGT3” VW No problem, thanks :)
Congrats on 100k,😍
Nice vid man. How about making a vid on how buying a car first? Like, what you should look at when you're going to buy a car. What you checked before you bought it etc.
Yea that's one of the videos I'm planning after catching up on the build and drift series.
Nice project man. You are doing good work out there. Cheers from s13 owner ;]
Btw. in CA18DET this air box hole is Intercooler. It's mounted in same spot but it have two holes.
Sebastian Harmasz Yup and on the 240sx it's a resonator box which is made to decrease engine noise to make for a quieter ride inside the car.
***** Always good to know new things. So again thx for great video and keep Nissan fun ;)
When u take the wheels off, brake the lugs first then raise it
Love your style man :)
Erik Satie in the intro :O
I remember driving slammed for the first time... entering too fast in driveways and stuff LOL
Back here in 2023 to watch again 😄
Nice vids man really well done you should have more subs
On a ca18 there's a box with no holes connected to the air box except it's up next to it instead of down there so that's probably what that is, I was told somehow moisture or water is filtered into it but idk haha but yeh.
Interesting. I had the same head unit when I bought my s13 silvia
Reversing up driveway overrated?
could rip off front bumper
Good vid , music was annoying don't like that country or whatever it is
Yea haha
