    Hey Tony,
It was great to see the different philosophies of successful coaches here, really a big eye-opener. This is Vinny, I left a comment on another one of your videos. I'm a former Division I All-American sprint swimmer and I now do track as a hobby at 27. I'm implementing more and more of your training and general principals into my own regimen and am seeing a lot of results through experimentation, trial and error. The two sports (swimming and track) are so similar on the surface, yet so different when you really get down to elite-level preparation. I'd love to do a video/webinar conference with you and share what I've learned through the two sports and how Feed the cats has helped me improve the last few months. Let me know if you have an opening and best of luck this spring with your season!

I've built my training plan based off both of Vince, ,Ryan and Tony's materials. I use Tony's speed training methods with my younger kids and it works. Our speed and GSSE sessions are based of 6 - 23 seconds sprints and wicket. All the kids are different but they received the same work physically.

Great stuff. Banta has an incredible mind and I applaud him for his system, as results are results. However, I don't see how Tony's method of training kids for the 400 would be suboptimal for someone with the "wrong" genetics or personality type. I say this because the vast majority of kids like playing and chasing one another in fast, short spurts, AKA FTC type "natural" training. I don't think many little kids naturally like long, slow, drawn out exercise like tempo runs or running miles (maybe it's their attention span)

    • @coachtonyholler

Singular focus on improving max speed and power. If competing, need to mix in lactate work. However, lactate work interferes with speed gains. We see the biggest speed gains when we aren’t concerned with sprint capacity and acidosis tolerance.

Even 900m of speed work maintaining quality seems like a big stretch. If ! get 300m - 400m of speed work (40m - 60m... 30m flys etc ) out my athletes (after prep acc and wickets) I'll count that as a solid exceptional day. BUT 900m of speed work?
