What are Schroth Method Exercises for Scoliosis?

  • Check out how we treat Scoliosis using the Schroth Method. These are just a couple of examples of common Schroth exercises and are not meant to take the place of formal treatment.
    [IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE DOING THESE!]
    These are not meant to be used for treatment! If you are looking to get treated using the Schroth Method, PLEASE find someone trained in it and they will modify these exercises to your specific curve.
    The Schroth Method is meant to re-balance the muscles and retrain them to hold you in a more correct position. It was developed by Katharina Schroth decades ago. She had scoliosis, and she noticed that different exercises and positions reduced the look of her curve. The Schroth Method has been changed and modified over the years to bring it in line with current knowledge and research.
    Today, the Schroth Method is the backbone to our treatment of scoliosis and spinal deformity. It is the most researched technique for treating scoliosis, and has good studies to show its effectiveness.
    The absolute best way to treat scoliosis is to do it specific to each individual curve. All curves are different, and they all need to be treated that way. Since 2015 we have been a Physical Therapy clinic focusing on the spine and spinal deformity, and are committed to bringing the most advanced and effective treatment to this under served population.
    To see more information on scoliosis specific treatment, please visit

    There you will find more information on our clinic and how we have specialized in this method.
    You can also check out our website at www.aligntherapyutah.com to see more information on the other conditions we treat.

I never really how much effort you need to breath correctly lol. Once you get the hang of it, you can do it from home & reduce the amount of times you go to your physical therapist. And I have not been able to walk for 4 years. I had pelvis fractures and had rods and screws put in my femur bones. I recently got a pain pump my doctor said once my pain gets better and I get some therapy I maybe able to walk again. I’m crossing my fingers I hope so.

    Would this still help at all if you have areas of spine that have fused naturally. I have kyphoscoliosis and fused at T2/3 and also have fused at T10/11 and have mild scoliosis in lumbar spine.
    Was on diazepam for 20 years for upper back tightness following L5/S1 laminectomy tiny.
    Now in horrific benzodiazepine withdrawal and all muscles are contracting/shortening and bending spine so bows up off of sofa.

    • @AlignTherapyUtah
      @AlignTherapyUtah  2 года назад +3

      That is the problem with the traditional way of treating scoliosis! It has always been to strengthen the convex and stretch the concave....but the problem is they are both weak, for different reasons, and the convex side is overworked already. We don't want to demand a lot more from it. This way of treating it totally changes the way I think of scoliosis treatment.
