- Hanging is great for all scoliosis curve types! It helps distract the spine to create more space within the vertebral joints and off-load the spine. And it also emphasizes the concept of elongation for scoliosis!

can it help structural scoliosis in those who already adults 30yo ?
I looked up what a 'stretch-out strap' is. Hmm, I don't see how one could be attached to a door frame safely so that it neither tore nor fell off. Last year, I bought the tension-style of pullup bar, thinking it would be PERFECT for my microflat. I only have one internal door frame and the management would never let me install one with screws, so being able to remove it quickly is a must. Sadly, it doesn't work without being screwed in permanently! Ugh. Very frustrating.
Look into getting a thera-loop to connect to your strap! That may help.
Hi, what I did was buying inversion boots and then going to a park that has some horizontal bars (most use these for pull-ups) and then I hang upside down. Caution - take someone with you or hang a rope next to the bar. Otherwise you might not get up again and hang there forever.

She keeps saying it's pulling from both ends. Nothing is pulling your head. It's only pulling from the bottom.
@@catherineostrom7575 the goal is to elongate at both ends. Pushing the head upwards and the buttock downwards. As if we are pulling at both ends of the curve. Hope that helps!
You mentioned tucking? Do you me a tucking the pelvis ? I was told to stop doing that as it Can make my lumbar curve worse? And obviously not to arch my back or to tuck in just keep my pelvis as is. Because for so long all I heard was tuck the pelvis for neutral spine, when I came to see no real scoliosis specialists mention this? I was told when doing that stretch on the bar don’t tuck my pelvis in, to keep pushed out
@@juliaoconnor2843 you don’t want either extreme of the pelvis. Find that middle point.
Thanks for the video. Are these exercises still beneficial for adult scoliosis?

You got it! Let me know if you have questions!
@@schrothboss my question is how many times should we do this? for the full hang how many seconds do we need to hang in full, and what will be the head position while doing the full hang? and what is the more or less time frame to see the result? and what is the best time of the day to do this? Thanks in advance for the Reply. God Bless 🙏🏻❤️

Hi Rachel I am suffering with terrible flattening of my spine. I have mild scoliosis. I would like to ask would elongation be a bad idea for my lack of curvature? Do you recommend any exercises to regain the thoracic and lumbar curves? Im not getting military neck posture and getting headaches and neck pain every day. I know that with rotation due to scoliosis the spine can flatten but ai only have 20 and 10 degree curves… thank you for ur help

Does hanging from a pull up bar (a dead hang) actually fix the scoliosis?
It will not fix scoliosis. It can possibly help to stop it from progressing and getting worse.
I'm gonna start doing weighted dead hangs everyday (45 pound plate.) I'll let you know.
BTW a reason it probably doesn't work is because gravity isn't strong enough thqts why ima do weighted and let u know
What about a dead hang ?
Apparently Deadhangs can contribute to flatback which I believe often comes with scoliosis.. although rock climbing encourages kyphosis soo yeah
Dead hanging is good, however in moderation. It can also cause overstretching of the scapular muscles. So something to watch. I recommend short-hanging to engage the shoulder blades!

I very much appreciate the video. It reminded me that as a kid I used to sometimes hang from a bar on the playground & it would provide back relief. Gravity can be a great ally in stretch & elongation exercises. Thank you for demonstrating & explaining safe & graduated exercises to elongate the back. I additionally appreciate the tips to ensure that one is in a neutral spin position within each exercises. Thank you for including accommodations for those with less arm strength. I look forward to exploring & learning from your other videos. This was my first time visit to your site

I'm 59 and have developed a slight curve in my upper back, scoliosis. COVID didn't help. It is somewhat painful. It's not over 25% and I'm trying to figure out how to help myself. I'm going to give this a try.
I’m happy to help!
I don’t have hanging bars. Any other ideas? I can hang from the top of my fridge with a stool underneath my feet perhaps.
Yes! Use a stretch out strap which you can throw over the top of your door. And then a pvc pipe or wooden dowel.
If you google schroth hanging home setup some pictures should come up!
Dude get a pullup bar and put it in a doorframe
@@mycommentisinvalidbut9375 I just did this and am working on increasing the time I can hang each time. It cost me under $30. I'd be afraid to hang on the refrigerator and having it fall over on me.
How long does it take to cure scoliosis by hanging?
I would never say that you can cure scoliosis via hanging. It can help stop the progression of scoliosis.
@@schrothbosscan it reverse it?
@@marionharris5952 this can not reverse scoliosis but possibly stop it from getting worse.
Valuable 👍
Glad this was helpful to you!!🙌
Thanks. How much time it takes with this exercise for 50 degree scoliosis to become normal.
The goal is to stop the progression of the curve from getting worse. Not reverse the curve.

Glad this was helpful to you!!!
Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I LIKE THIS .THANK YOU.
They say that an inversion swing gives only temporary relief and its benefits disappear as soon as you you are upright in gravity again. How is this different than that,
When you hang with your feet on the ground in the “semi-hang” position, engage the shoulder blades, and perform expansion breathing the hanging is performed actively using your muscles. It is not passive or at extreme levels of incline like inversion tables. I agree with you, I’m not a fan of inversion tables due to the temporary relief and “rebound effect” than can occur.
Thank you.

Replay. Thank you...a wonderful teacher Kate! I do appreciate your generosity...your videos have taught me what my physiotherapist couldn't communicate. Could you please do a video on the correct way to walk when you have a TR LL s-shaped curvature with marked lumbar lordosis. Isnt hyperextension bad for scoliosis?
I would say *repetitve* hyperextension is not good for scoliosis. You shouldn’t be hyperextended during any hanging exercises, neutral pelvis and spine position!
@@schrothboss what is hyperextending than? Im confused, please elaborate if possible
@@Psgamer-vu2hp hyperextending is bending the spine backwards
