After 1870 and the collapse of the Second Empire, the triumph of Offenbach was severely condemned and the exigence of pure music appeared again. This conceerto is one of the first outcomes of this renewed taste for the music. This solid and somehow severe concerto dates from 1876.

We were only familiar with his organ symphonies. This is a new one for us, and very much appreciated! Dankjewel!

There are at least two instrumental symphonies which are quite noticeable. And a vast composition for soli, chorus, organ and orchestra.

Right you are - the work positively sparkles and comes alive with Fournet/Brautigam and Yates/Roscoe just do not do it justice. This is especially evident in that delightful last movement. Thanks for sharing.

Anche questo un pregevole concerto di Widor.
Peccato per la scarsa qualità della registrazione.

Sì, è una vecchia registrazione radio che ho copiato da una cassetta. Considerando, la qualità è abbastanza decente ;-)
