Their voices did age, they just aged beautifully.
Aged like fine wine.
Except Klaus Meine
@@Homesick0.o Looks like the original
Like Danzig
@@Homesick0.o he never was a fenomenal singer, but he still got it for the most parts.
Why different songs? Wouldn't it be more accurate to compare the same songs
ikr ?
Indeed
Because Loudwire
hola me pica el culo
Exactly! this triggers me so damn hard.
When you knew Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, RJ Dio would be here
No like because you didn't include geddy lee/rush
@@Bleghhhh and Klaus Meine
King Diamond
Rob Halford with long hair is such a foreign thing since I'm so used to bald/short hair Rob
10 singers whose voice aged but still awesome
James Hetfield of course.
Till lindemann
Cornell
Phil Anselmo
Joey Belladonna
Halford is so hilarious when he hits a bad note. He makes a gesture with his hand like, "eh, it was almost there."
bdwitt66 plant voice has most definitely changed
papifranku Honestly, they all have changed a little bit. The list should be "Singers who still sound awesome decades later."
yeah, but I mean come on halford is like 64 on there while bruce is 56 (turning 57) on there.
+ShagStars Productions halford is turning 68
They got old... That's all
5:32 It was supposed to be a concert of Ariana Grande, she got sick, and Twisted Sisters were also in the town. Promotors said:
"Well what the heck..."
Regz Zuse It clearly turned for the better.
Regz Zuse and Mike Portnoy is there as well. Even better
hes way cuter, a good replacement
hes way cuter, a good replacement
Regz Zuse wow the promoters sure saved the crowd from a tragedy
Sadly, Dio looks like he's on his Deathbed but he still sounds absolutely amazing! A talent that is very much missed. RIP.
He actually died pretty much on tour. Heaven and hell was booked for a gig here in sweden a couple of months after hus passing. He sounded great all the way until his death. ❤
Fun fact about Mr. Dio. He had band LONG time ago called Elf...and he was the tallest person in that band.
Music loving metal head why do you think they were called elf?
well, he was a normal height i don't know what you're on about
really? the tallest?
@i'm only here for the beer it's a really stupid joke i made that's only funny to me because i'm the same height as him.
And if I am not mistooked ELF were the band playing on the first Rainbow album? ( along with Richie)
OMG, Rob Halford with hair.
rob shaved his hair coz he wanted a biker look
+Heavy Duty also because he went bald.
+CaptainAtomSmasher that one aswell...lol
Threw me off so hard when I saw that
😂😂😂
Nobody:
Literally no one:
Rob halford: YEEAAAAA-A-AAAH
Klaus Meine's voice never change since day one.. That's why I love scorpions..
I gotta give Halford props. The fact that he is still able to pull off the song Painkiller is nuts. He might not be able to match the high pitch of the original song, but he can still get pretty freaking close.
Yeah definitely! Compare that to Axl Rose’s welcome to the jungle scream nowadays....
nuts... cuz he sings high... involuntary pun.
Does it fuckin matter??
Psycho Metal Kid And Rob is almost 10 years older
@i'm only here for the beer In terms of vocal range Halford is still better than Dickinson. But Bruce is very commanding on stage while Halford became heavier with years. It depends of where everyone focuses.
If your gonna compare their voices from before and now at least use the same songs
Nice profile picture lol
And not compare proshot footage to someone's phone camera.
One would have to assume for the comparisons they probably find the best footage they can whether pro shot, or from someone's phone (for the recent footage)
Sometimes musicians either aren't in the same band as before or don't do the same songs anymore. Making it hard to compare the same songs if they haven't had the setlist from 30+ years ago.
GOOD POINT
Geddy’s voice has changed immensely, what are you smoking??
I know, Geddy was an odd inclusion to this list
Yes it did, but rather then screaming he sings
Yeah not for the better either unfortunately
Ann Wilson from Heart. She still sounds just as badass!
Totally agree
she's one of THE best female singers of rock/metal ever existed. her and Sharon from within temptation.
Totally agree. Ann Wilson is amazing.
I miss Dio so fucking much... such a wise man, aswell as Lemmy
Elchinodiabolero
damn right
Elchinodiabolero Lemmy ;/
I thought Lemmy was a terrible singer, but he actually sings pretty good..
Me too :(
Rodrigo Manuel Ibarra Juarez fuck you
This video might be better titled "10 Rock + Metal Singers Whose Voices Aged Well" because it's pretty apparent that their voices aged.
Especially for Rob Halford tho... Just like wine he got better with age...
Other than King Diamond. He still sounds the same.
Geddy lee? Fucking seriously? I’m a die hard rush fan but he lost all his high end
Diz 👊🏻Judas Priest 🤘🏻
Exactly
New Judas Priest album makes Rob Halford look that much better!! He’s so good still!!
FIREPOWER!!!
I've been a priest fan forever and still the song "No surrender" from that album is my all time favorite song by them
Tommy Shaw NEEDS to be on this list! His recent performances with Styx sound incredible!
King Diamond has actually IMPROVED his live vocals. I saw him in 2014 and he sounds better than ever. I think the quitting smoking has helped him a lot.
And what's even more impressive is that it's after him having gone through triple bypass heart surgery. (which also prompted him to quit smoking)
Sounds better now then in the last 20 years. Guy is an amazing vocalist
Saw him live in 2019 and he sounded amazing
"whose voices aged gracefully" might've been a better title for this video
except for maybe Glenn Hughes. holy shit
Yes
Trade him for Michael Kiske. Goddamn he sounds fucking great on the new Helloween tune.
@@joshuaswanson1977 I was discussing precisely that with some friends the other day. Really is amazing.
Can’t wait for that album.
* James Hetfield Has Left The Chat *
Also Dave Mustaine
Also Ozzy Osbourne
He literally sounds the same, his voice is just more melodic now.
@@squidwardtenticles6723 not really
MARIO VOM HOF his voice in the early days of Metallica sounded a lot thinner than his voice now.
klaus meine's voice has changed the least out of the whole list. that guy always sounded great
Dio's voice definitely aged, but it aged in his favor.
Trent Stines in my opinion I don't think the aging was bad or good. I love the 17+ minute version of heaven and hell to bits much because of his voice but before it was... cleaner. (Just listen to like holy diver holy shit I love it)
I agree he tended to sound a bit schreechy especially live in the early days. I like the way his voice got more melodic during the heaven and hell reunion period.
That man never sounded bad in his life. Always top notch on every record.
What about Steven Tyler from Aerosmith
Ozzy Osbourne's voice didn't really age, but Robert Plant's aged quite a bit.
Ikr
You know why Klaus still sounds the same? The lack of drugs
Atomic Punk exactly
Agreed!
Explain me Steven Tyler please xD
Valentin S. He is jesus in a rock form
Whitney Houston 's voice died from smoking and heart disease.
Alice Cooper. He sounds the same since the 70's.
steven Tyler too
Yes
ARE YOU SURE???
And Ozzy (for the most part)
Definitely not Paul Stanley
I miss the music Ronnie James Dio would have made. What a powerful voice.
Where is David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Dave Mustaine, Roy Khan, Alice Cooper, Lemmi, Ozzy Osbourne, ... , there are many more that has the same voice, some even have the same voice and have developed a different vocal range
I know I'm two years too late, but I have some really bad news about Freddie Mercury
i think he means freddie’s voice didn’t change from when queen started in 1970 to 1991 he was 45 when he died
As a singer and having great interest in voices, I can tell you a voice that doesn't age does not exist, and none of these (amazing nonetheless) singers differ. As a singer ages, his timbre darkens and his voice lowers. For the ones I know best, Dio mostly kept his timbre but he was less easy in higher notes and made his band tune down. Also his vibrato slowed down a bit.
Dickinson used his age by developing a super strong lower range, and he still is hot as hell on the high notes, even if he had to adapt his technique and it sounds less easy now. But listen to "The Talisman" and you will hear the archetype of a voice that aged, but aged well.
And to finish, Halford has lost the most of these three. He is less comfortable than before on high notes he could hit when he was young and avoids them live, but he still has his superhigh screaming technique, which kinda gives him 2 unconnected ranges with a gap inbetween... If you know the notes a bit you will hear it: today live, Rob Halford might scream you a crazy G5 but will never belt a good B4 anymore.
Hope I could help some of you out =)
I think the greatest example of an amazing aged voice is Greg Lake. In the last 20 years his voice was so deep and powerful, especially when compared to his vocals on in the court of the crimson king
HunterShad their voices have aged the best, but they have noticeably aged
HunterShad buzzkill, stop ruining the fun of the music community
Finlay Crawford Very right! Whether you prefer a younger or older version of a voice is totally up to you =)
Luca Simmons Greg Lake is a singer I don't know very well. Could you give me some example songs so that I can check him out?
Im a huge Rush fan I disagree that geddys voice never aged. His voice has changed so much over the years
Brian jonshon should had been included.
And James Hetfield too
@@ayamarrouche5280 listen to kill em all and then to master of puppets and you will see the diference
@@dinobambino7724 yeah I've heard them all though they are banned from Lebanon love them ❤🤘🏻
@@dinobambino7724 his voice in kill em all is the best performece of hetfiled for me
@@dinobambino7724 Yeah. James Hetfield's voice didn't age well at all.
How about a list of vocalists who sound like shit now, especially compared to the old days?
Top 3: Vince Neil, Don Dokken, Geoff Tate.
Paul Stenley
Kurt Cobain, because we can't hear his voice anymore.
Someone's gonna kill me for this reply.
bruce dickinson dont @ me
@Christopher Bingham Axl Rose.
Many old top 40 bands that are still playing. Let's do a list of not one particular type of music but of the singer's themselves who have either gotten better or who are worse. Any beginners out there?? 😊
@@nate-ds9tg perhaps compared to their old days but he still sounds amazing considering how old he is
Where´s Lars Ulrich?
LOL!
In your bed
Diego M-A his wife is in my bed but I don't see him
That was James, i want Lars
Solid meme
Never expected overkill OMFG THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY (sorry just really love their music)
I was as surprised to see Overkill too, huge fan as well.
Saw them 2 years ago for the first time, and after seeing this video i completely agree that his voice just didn’t age
Same!! 🤘🏼
RJD and Iommi are a timeless duo.
Sammy Hagars voice has held up pretty good 50 years later
King Diamond's voice is Immortal
Hahaha immortal
😎👌🍔💥
He's a vamp xd
Glenn Hughes' case is just amazing. It's almost scary how good he sounds nowadays. Unbelievable!
he is the voice of rock for a reason
Justin Hayward from the Moody blues is insane, literally sounds the same over 50 years later
Robert Smith - The Cure
Whether you love him or hate him Sammy Hagar still has an amazingly powerful voice till this day.
Gonna have to disagree on Geddy Lee. Don't get me wrong, Rush is my absolute favorite band, but you can't say with a straight face that he can hit those notes as well as he did back in the day.
Totally agree dude, but Christ I would never fault him for that. Man, you'd need regeneration powers to sing as high as Geddy did in his 20's in your 60's.
Geddy's voice is the reason I can't get through a single Rush live DVD (2000s onwards). Sounds like a crazy old lady. Still an awesome bassist and musician though.
100%: It's hard to find a trio of musicians more talented than Rush, and Geddy's ability to play bass, keys, trigger sound with his feet while singing makes him a certified madman... but I was given a chance to see Rush live recently and I passed just because I cringe when I hear attempts to sing some of the classic, pre-Moving Pictures stuff, my favorite stuff. He use to belt it back in the day, he's understandably more conservative range wise on more recent material.
@Christopher Bingham, glad nobody asked for your opinion then ;)
It's easy to be fooled by that because he has a pretty high voice naturally.
Klaus Meine voice really hasn't aged. Angelic voice.
I think Bruce’s age only really came noticeable after his fight with cancer but even now he still sounds fucking great.
Bruce Dickinson is an amazing vocalist, but his voice aged a lot. It started changing after Powerslave tour.
Vic I wouldn't say aged, I would say damaged. He sounded like an old man during the late 80s, early 90s. He has gotten a bit better, but nothing like his heyday
Yeah he damaged his voice cause of intense touring in late 80's, so in early 90's he tried to sing in a different way.
I think he was VERY good in the late 2000s. Now he sounds like late 80s again.
Yea. Best voice of bruce Is from 1982-84. I prefer his mid voice tone then high. High tone is great on album like SiT
He did change AND lost some of his range, he had his tongue cancer stuff going on. Well, bands like maiden and metallica, constant touring. I mean, it's bound to take its toll.
I wonder how many shows per year they did on their best days? Metallica counted about 250 a year and hetfield didn't know how to sing lol anyway. Maiden toured constantly as well.
Dickinson to me sounds a bit well...fatter overall nowadays and no intense high notes but he is old as well...still good to listen to. For fan service, he is more than fine.
Most singers voices take an evolution like this.
They mention klauss meinne here? I heard the zoo live from a recent show in the radio or something, downtuned to where who knows and I thought it was a bad cover band doing scorpions lol.
NONE of these singers they mention has remain the same. It wouldn't be possible.
Where THE FUCK is Micheal KISKE!?!?!?!?!
Yeah no doubt. still mint and crisp.
Denner Silva Honestly. He still can hit soaring notes that most singers only dream of.
Denner Silva tuck yeah!
Denner Silva fuck
Loudwire probably never heard of him.
Lemmy kilmister deserves to be on this list
Bruce is incredible live even now seen Iron Maiden live twice...after having throat cancer just wow.
I know he's not nearly as heavy as most of the vocally dynamic folks on the list, but Paul Rodgers from Free and Bad Company is still singing just as good as 40 years ago. I was hoping I'd see him on the list, though, I know, not metal enough...
Got to see them last May Touring with ZZ Top was amazing.
Still rock, soo...
What about brian johnson tho?
Smøøg Brian Johnson literally had to be replaced because his voice got so bad
It was hearing loss
I think his voice has changed a lot throughout the years, he still rocks tho
Lore's Stuff yes he rocks, but i have heard he is coming back to AC/DC tho
Smøøg I think we can all agree that Bon Scotts voice didn't change much over his time with AC/DC
I think these are worth adding: Timo Kotipelto, Hansi Kursch, Michael Kiske, Joey Belladonna, Dave Mustaine, Lemmy Kilmister, Chuck Billy, Mille Petrozza.
I saw Judas Priest last week. He sounds EXACTLY the same as he did on their first albums. Incredible.
Saying that Robert Plant's voice hasnt aged is like saying the earth is flat: NOT TRUE.
João Serralha the flat earthers disagree
I agree, but its aged beaultifully
Shashank Iyer Same with Geddy Lee
flat earthers wya
No kidding. It changed drastically throughout the 70's and onward.
Roberts Plant's voice changed so much are you kidding me
Alice Cooper is another one he still sounds like he did from the 70s
Thus is not a countdown so it's not a competition. It's an appreciation of vocalists who sang just as powerfully in the beginning of their career as later in their career. They're awesome.
Mike Patton??
Ben Boyle yeees🖒🖒🖒
Ben Boyle Mike Patton never gets old :0
true his voice sounds the same as it did back in the day
He sang travolta 10 years later after he released it and he did it the same way as he did it on the album, pretty amazing.
I think he aged from The Real Thing to Angel Dust, but after that he hasn't.
Dio deserves it so much. to sound the same with cancer as well. just amazing
Tom Araya's voice aged so well, he isn't able to reach the high screams that much anymore but live he sounds exactly like the studio version
Shame he wasn't on this list
Good to see Glenn Hughes on here. Often overlooked
Mike May exacly!
Juda Priest 🤘
Salut toi !
RandomMetalHead Bien le bonsoir !
Motorhead or die Que vois-je? Des metalheads français?
HunterShad affirmatif !
Judas Priest is really the worst band I know in metal.
Is that a live video of stargazer I see!?!?
no
Saw Dio Live At Riverport With Deep Purple. What A Rocking Show. Dio Was The BEST.
MOST DEFINITELY IS LIVE!!!!!!
Jon Oliva-Savatage. John Tardy-Obituary.
Ann Wilson should’ve made this list.
Robert plant not aged voice? are you kidding me?
his voice is in worse shape here
he hit his 50s hard. But he still has a good voice compared to Serj tankian and Axl rose in their 50s
His voice was never as good from about 74 onward, he couldn't hit the real high notes anymore
Plant always had the shittiest voice and band. Led Zeppelin fucking suck, Jimmy Page fucking sucks and John Paul Jones is overrated as heck
@@SLAYER.APO.VOLO. oh go back under your bridge!
@@tomodonnell878 u mad bro? 😂
STEVEN TYLER!!! WHERE THE HELL IS STEVEN TYLER!!!
Chen Levin exactly what I i was thinking
His voice actually got better
hes not a metal act
@@C0mm0nS3ns3 Robert Plant ain't a metal singer either if you ask me...
Tylers voice changed a lot from the early 70s.
Honorable mentions:
Brian Johnson
Graham Bonnet (Rainbow, Alcatrazz)
Tom Araya
Joey Belladonna
CJ Snare (Firehouse)
Klaus,my favorite one
There is one man who should be on here: Jon Anderson from Yes. Just watch Yes at the Hall of Fame 2017, he sounds so good and he is SEVENTY-TWO!!!
That man's voice never change. Really.
@@BukanIbuMu imo it got better. More full as the years went on
I disagree on Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford and Geddy Lee. In my opinion their voices aged a lot.
Atleast, they aged well, as they voices.
dio's voice also aged bit
They aged like good wine. jmo
inquisitor 717 meh
iemand anders
ofcourse it's just an opinion. not many singers have aged as well. or they wouldn't be on this.
Usually, male voices get deeper and darker with age. You can hear it especially in Dio's case.
honestly i think Cinderella's Tom Keifer could have been on this list. he's famous for his high-pitched growl (which, given all that he's been through, expectedly doesn't sound quite the same now) but he has also sang in his natural voice for a number of recordings over the years too and it was jaw-dropping to me how similar he's always sounded. very underrated!
Suddenly, my tears wanna go down from my eyes, when i see Ronnie James Dio. Legend :'(
Seeing rob halford with long hair is unsettling
Jeremiah Staab It kinda looks....wrong....
I must be old. I'm still not used to seeing him with a bald head.
Where's Paul Rogers?
No doubt, absolutely agree. Also Sammy Hagar both of them are in their 70's and still sound great!
To this day, Roger Daltrey still sounds amazing.
This is an amazing fucking joke. I LOVE Rush, but Geddy Lee's voice is not even close to what it was on Fly By Night/Caress of Steel.
If they were to put James Hetfield on here, I would've lost it
Robert Smith is a good exemple, his voice didn't change but his face is... Oh My GOD !
Bobby is still sounding badass and powerful. The man's fucken 60 years old and still has an 80s feel to him
I only agreed with Glenn Huges, Klaus Meine and Dee Snider. Perhaps King Diamond (?)
Rob Halford is a freaking legend
*BRUH* you forgot one person
Paul Rodgers
Edit: Jon Anderson
Hard rock pioneer Mark Farner of GFR? As old as plant but can still hit a B.
Bobby blitz is just amazing, this guy and Over Kill are just killers
Mainard, Mike patton, Tom araya
Add Mike Reno of Loverboy. 40 years after first release, he can still belt "Fly my way!"
Look closely at Rob Halford after he screams out that note. Talk about giving it your all. That's also part of what makes him so great.
Tom Araya and Brian Johnson are aged better than all of them
Next: 10 heavy metal musicians with very non-metal names
Barney Greenway (Napalm Death)
Chris Barnes (Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under)
George Fisher (also Cannibal Corpse)
Maynard Keenan (tool)
Jim Root (slipknot)
Pat O'Brien (Cannibal Corpse)
Vincent Abbott (aka Vinnie Paul) (Pantera)
Jeffrey Walker (Carcass)
Jason Oliver (Infester)
Saw King Diamond when I was 5 and he always sounds that good
Blitz and Meine are the ones who have really gotten a better sounding voice with a nice signature over the years.
Joey Belladonna, he sounds exactly like he did in the 80s, but better. Geddy Lee's voice is the same as it always has been too. Klaus Meine, Steven Tyler are also in my list as well.
Steven Tyler got better after he stopped with the drugs
No way, listen to early Rush compared to the last album, Geddys voice is completely different, you wouldn't even know it's the same guy
Are you f-in serious Robert Plant lost his voice in the eighties. I guess who ever made this list couldn't sing to save his life. Singers voice age as they are but they change their style of singing.
Mike Stankovich You have not seen Robert Plant live lately.
Yea he's straining a lot to sing that song today
Robert Plants voice was shit after 1974.
YES! I agree on Robert Plant. I never got into his "newer" stuff in the 2000's.
Mike Stankovich you're g*d damn right, although most singers in this list are still great, their voices changed
Robert Plant could make a whole album saying "babybabybabybabybaby" and we'd all be fine
Geddy definitely aged but the notes are so high I can overlook that since he's so much older
Kiske beter be here !
Primordial Dragon power metal doesn't get any love
ikr & thats so annoying... power metal has so many talented singers, yet nobody gives a fck
Hansi Kursch's voice got better with age
Fully agree, but his voice has aged though cos Helloween play half a step down live now.
