I tried these in the golf shop today and compared them to 4-5 other brands.
The result was that I hit the Big Bertha 23 about 15 yards longer than all the other clubs I tested.
I also hit them much straighter than the other brands/clubs.
Afterwards I ordered a set from 5-iron - SW with graphite shafts!

I got fitted for these yesterday. They gave me so much confidence and the weight forced me to swing easy rather than swing hard. Compared to my current 7iron, it added 23yards
The average golfer along with 100's if not 1000s would benefit from these tremendously. The folks with an over the top swing will love them.
Hello Guy what did you mean about the weight. Did you find them heavy or light.
Maybe weight is the wrong word. The 'weighting' of the clubs allows me to feel the position of the club face at the top of my backswing. I have a tendency to open the club face, these clubs with the 'weighting' allow me more control to feel that the face is closed. @melwalker2135
At 61 Im learning golf again after many years away (and I was always just a social golfer anyway) and just got fitted yesterday to replace my Tommy Armour 25 yr old irons . I was leaning towards T350s but after trying these with graphite shafts it was a no brainer for me - as you say feels like the head does all the work . Cant wait to get them out on the course (funnily enough Ive played at Carden Park many many years ago ) .
That A wedge is a great one to have in your bag, use it for so many different chips into and around the greens.
Callaway has done an outstanding job for years with the Big Bertha line up as these have always been well suited to the higher handicap player. Could not agree with you more Andy. Over the years as technology has changed and improved the enjoyment factor for the average "Weekend Warrior" it seems that Callaway has always been leading the way for innovation and have not been afraid to push the design envelope. While these clubs may not be for some better players as you have said Andy most people need to get over their preconcieved notions and experiment when they are thinking about upgrading their bags, they just might be surprised!

Completely understand the mindset. If it does not suit your eye it can be tough to use, but if they perform it is tough to ignore them. I will say for super game improvement clubs I think they look great! The lofts and need for extra wedges is a bit annoying, but that is where we are in today's golf club market (especially for these super game improvement clubs). As always great review.

Great review, I purchased these two months ago with stiff graphite shafts. I will admit I like thick women not irons, but these irons are impressive. I play to a 11 and was hitting my T200’s great but the regular flex was too whippy. I’m carrying the BB 7 iron 170 and the 5 is almost a driving iron at a 200 carry. I had to add a wedge due to the gaps but these will stay in the bag even though they are on the thick side.
What about feel? Mine play great but feel awful at impact, center hits.
Back in the 70s, many golfer used lead tape to add mass to clubs also in darts I played with tungsten darts to reduce mass but achieve great results. So this makes sense to me
I don’t know how you don’t like the way they look. I think they’re beautiful! I’m considering these or the B21s. Not sure which one yet
I had the same straight left tendency when I first started playing my PXG 0211 with graphite shaft, even though my years long issue was a weak fade on mishits with heavier steel shafted irons. With the lighter shafts, even though my swing path was still in to out, I was squaring the clubface earlier to the point where I was striking the ball with a closed face instead of my normal club face open miss. I had to spend some time on the range keeping my hands out in front and along the target line longer after impact. Love these strong lofted irons and the lighter shafts, so I don't mind having to adjust a bit.

Andy, can you consider a review or comparison with the Great Big Bertha irons and 5wood as compared to the Big Bertha?
The science of club making is an interesting thing! I like the black look! I recently bought a cheap set of hybrid irons PW-4, from Lazrus. They fly very high and long as well than! Thanks for the review Andy
I would like to try those
I have 6-PW and added 3H, 4H, 5H, Heavenwood and Driver. This past Sat, I used the 3H from the tee and crushed it 230 yds in the middle, the very first time I've used it. I'm a new golfer (3 months) and I can hit these Hybrids much easier than irons. Until I can consistently hit my driver, I'll be using 3H instead of the driver off the tee.
Update: I figured out why I was having issues with the irons, ball consistently going left. It was the offset, I had to adjust the alignment to account for the offset, I can hit these irons now.
To be fair besides being enormous. Those irons look pretty darn good. Love the black and the carbon.
I’ve played blades the last 30 years, some semi blades along the way but mostly blades. We had a demo big Bertha CF19 6 iron that no one wanted at the range I teach at and I went and grabbed it one day while teaching my students. I was doing a demonstration hit and my god the ball flew about 2 clubs longer than my set I got now. It was so forgiving, made me question if I should get a 4 iron and use it as a driving iron and get rid of my hybrid or 3iron. Callaway make really forgiving clubs. Favorite being the X-14 irons. If you’ve never tried it. Give it a go. Guess which club I use now whilst doing demonstrations 😉

Do these seem to be built upon the model/ design of the Epic clubs from a few years ago?
They look somewhat similar, and are also expensive like the Epics were.

That’s a good question, my honest answer would be to test both because aside from the answer to your question regarding forgiveness I think they are different in many other ways

Completely agree that loft has little to do with launch angle but loft is closely related to carry distance. Personally I do not bother with an iron with a loft of less than 25 degrees. With my club head speed it is pointless, depending on how the iron is constructed, either I cannot get enough launch or with an SGI I get the launch but not enough back spin to keep it in the air. At that point I switch to a hybrid

Not enough people realise this! Swing speed is more important the lower the loft.
Could you compare these to the Callaway AI smoke?
I tend to pull and draw my irons so these would be difficult for me. I wouldn’t mind a version like this without the offset.

Definitely the golf companies are keeping everybody in mind from the scratch golfer to those that need the extra help with the features that this club offers. This club certainly is not for many players but there is quite a few that it would suit perfectly and it will allow them to play a much better game of golf equivalent to those that use smaller more advanced clubs yeah both players will get the same result in the end. I commend Callaway for keeping their faith in the big Bertha line they played them for 10 years and really enjoyed them. But as my game got better I switch to Mizuno And would never look back now. But I could still enjoy taking a set of these irons out on the course and enjoying the incredible results they would produce with ease. Great review!

So why would you want to use blades to always have to hit it perfect? When you can use these and score..golf is all about the score at the end
Please do a review on the Mazel single length graphite irons. They are very affordable, but do the stack up to all the hype?
My problem with strong lofted clubs is how they look behind the ball. I had the stealth irons and hated the way they looked at address. The 5 iron looked like a 3 iron behind the ball. I hit my p770 5 iron further and it’s weaker but i feel more confident because of the loft. Shows how much of a mental game golf is I guess.

In all honesty, the launch looks like it would be huge fun, and you can see how the low mass helps that, but the lofts... I don't know. Feels like they could have started at 3i, set the 7i at 31.5 and the pw at 47 and not meant you need 4 wedges before you even consider a Lob wedge. But then reviewers aren't saying "this 7i goes miles". Thats not a dig at you, thats their marketing sort of forcing you into it. Reviewers aren't going to reference loft ("The 27 degree club goes 160" or whatever), they are all going to say the 7i, and all of a sudden Callaway has the longest clubs out there. Out of non perfect lies, you still want loft to cut through rough, right? If you go with a 7i in these out of the cabbage through habit, you're effectively presenting a 6i, and that feels a little like thats not optimal for a lot of golfers. Did that ever come up for you, and how did they fare?
That top line and offset would put me off. Had some x18 and found the same.

Always said that Andy loft is meaningless is todays clubs. The tec has them going high with stronger lofts. What's not to like?
Everybody is a scratch Golfer and a pro using what they probably shouldn't. Tour pros don't even use blades anymore. It's 2023 technology is the best it's been. We are not on tour, play what makes the game easier and funner. Yeah some guys got shiny blades but can't break 90 on any given day. Only thing that matters is at the end of the round when I'm taking peoples money and bragging rights. But hey... their shiny blades do look good in the bag when their loading em in their trunk with their pockets less full. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The scorecard don't lie.
I agree to a point but your comment is one extreme to the other! SGI to blade, there is a fair bit in between and it is still important that you are comfortable with any club you play.
@@TheAverageGolfer because that's the extreme differences in what people play, verse what they probaly should play. Might be a bit of a stretch indeed but it's not far off with some guys. What are you currently gaming? It would be hard to choose with all the options you have.
