    If you live nearby or just a casual observer, what would you like to see in this mall now that two anchors are lost

    • @sportsgames2713
      @sportsgames2713 5 лет назад +1

      Mall Aholic a movie theatre, Lord And Taylor to come back, Vin Maur, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales or Belk

      Mall Aholic do you know if any stores were closing? If so which one?

    • @mallaholicretailadventures

      @@sportsgames2713 the latest store to close was that gap down by Macy's. Then payless is closing all stores including this one. Charlotte russe is looking bleak for the whole company. There are areas of the mall that perpetually stay empty, mostly the mall entrance areas.

    This mall was the place to be back in the day. My favorite store here growing up in the 80s was Center Stage, a huge costume and magic shop.

    Once the anchors are lost the malls are never the same. The really high end stores really do make a big difference. From the 60's through 90's shopping was an experience. There is nothing that can compare to the old department stores like Bullocks, Broadway, Robinsons, Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor and others. The cosmetic departments were always such a treat and so elegant ! I couldn't believe the mess that you showed us ! You would have never seen anything like that in the past. This is all a reflection of how the standards have been lowered through the years. Excellent vid ! Very informative and well done ! I can't wait to see the next vid !

    Thank you for calling out Macys. I worked in Marshall Fields in THAT department and it was always immaculate. It was a sad day when Fields was no more.

    My family went xmas shopping here every year. We always entered at Marshall field's. The food court was awsum. I always got a kick out of the trees they grew inside corridors of the lower level and the birds that flew around in the trees. Good times. Shame there is not much left of it.

    It's nice to see that Fox Valley isn't as bad as I thought it might be, based on my last trip out there in 2010. Of course, I'm old enough to remember when there was almost NOTHING out New York Street from Farnsworth out to the mall. I can also still remember that the mall opened with just Sears and Marshall Field's... JCPenney opened in early '77 I think and then Lord & Taylor not too long after. Used to go out there all the time in the late 70's and early-mid 80's... before the carousel and the elevators (which might have been Westfield additions, I dunno.)

    I worked at a shop there called MJ Carroll, in the late 80’s. Before I worked there, my parents and I would go there at least once a week. There was a tiny shop tucked away behind the food court that did hot press T-shirt’s, and then later on sold things like different slogan/bands/picture buttons for your jackets. One of my coworkers brother was the manager of the smaller 4 screen cinema outside the mall, and was murdered there one night by one of his former employees. I really wish I could get some photos of this mall from its heyday.
