The dude is for real, I spent about 30 days in rehab with him in the mid 90s, and he was just an awesome dude for being in a Big Band like Primus! You would never know he was in a band, did not brag whatsoever! If you see this Jay...you rock bro, I remember you telling me about the Freaky Executives too and Clintons big Ball in 93 I think!
I love all Primus drummers, but Jay is the most elegant and subtle when playing. His work in Green Naughahyde is outstanding. Btw, as Spanish myself I find funny the name of this brand, because "vater" means "toilet".
They are still available as we have not discontinued them. Any store can get them for you if they are not in stock and if they have any questions, please have them contact us directly.
1- Well, you can tell he's from California 2- Cool dude who gets compared to Tim too much. Jay has his own style and sound, I think Les described as the "hop"- I personally dig it
BRING JAY LANE BACK.... I almost cried when I found out Tim was coming back. Now, let me just say this: We all love Tim/he was a key foundation in the Primus sound, etc, etc, etc.... That being said, Jay
Word. I think he and Herb are in a league all their own. Can't compare them. Plus Jay's cool cause he's adopted and smokes weed and still has so much creativity going on in his drumming...AND he's funky!
i feel like jay gets compared to tim a little too much. jay is a great musician with a sound you recognize immediately. his drumming on jillys on smack is collected yet so fucking agressive. hope he one day gets the recognition he deserves.
Before I really listened to Primus other than what I heard on the radio I went and saw them at the orpheum in Boston and it blew my fucking mind. They played all of sailing the seas of cheese and it was so fucking good. One of the top 5 concerts I've seen and I've seen hundreds. Especially les & Herb's solos. Always wanted them to do a tour where they played all of pork soda. Herb eventually became one of my biggest influences on the drums
Weird he never mentioned his years with Charlie Hunter. I loved watching him play with the Trio and then Quartet. Jay is my favorite drummer I've seen live
i've always loved all 3 primus drummers, but jay's playing always seemed a bit stiff compared to herb and brain. he's still awesome though, and his snare sounds great. and judging by this interview he seems like a really really cool down to earth dude. he seems humble and really cool and appreciative of the whole primus sitation
have to say, im a big tim AND brian fan and was very keen to judge jay when i saw them in london a few months back....i was very impressed! i think hes morer like tim than brian but very good at a blend of both!!
JAY is good, but Tim fit the best with best fills and technical playing, Brian Brain was all about hard hitting...but JAY is good. Seems like a cool dude too.

Your drumming Jay, molded my young mind in the late 80s. I obsess over your style of drumming. I hope you have another 30 years of great success.
Lane is awesome but Tim will always be Primus to me.

Hearsay is Jay is gonna be back with Ratdog this spring. Bob Weir fans are happy.
Maybe Danny Carey will stay on board since his other band hasn't released an album in 8+ years lol.
He reminds me so much of the Big Lebowski...the dude of Primus! What a lovely guy, and a awesome drummer!
I was Soo impressed by Lane's Drumming w/ Primus. That 'Green Naugahyde' is just mind blowing!!
i miss this guy. herb is my all time favorite drummer, but jay brought back the energy that primus had in the 90's.
Word. I think he and Herb are in a league all their own. Can't compare them. Plus Jay's cool cause he's adopted and smokes weed and still has so much creativity going on in his drumming...AND he's funky!
Has primus ever had a drummer that wasn't completely badass?
I'm such a fan of this guy now!

Larry, Todd and Les will always be Primus to me. Saw the first time they played the Phoenix in 88 opening for Victim's Family.
I wanna be friends with Jay Lane so bad
jay embodies rock drummer for life

“The Dude abides”...
Lane is a real funky drummer! Such an articulate and different playing style
Weird he never mentioned his years with Charlie Hunter. I loved watching him play with the Trio and then Quartet. Jay is my favorite drummer I've seen live

NEver thought I'd give the thumbs up to this guy....But he earned it in Denver Co. last month.
AWSOME DRUMMER
This guy acts so laid back but he's very precise.
Best Jay Lane recording: The Charlie Hunter Trio's "Bing, Bing, Bing!"
First song is Hennepin Crawler
I like his groove brain. Just in that little sample... as a Tim A. fan... I approve.
I love Brain too... just never fit Primus. I loved him in Praxis.
Does anyone know the name of the bell cymbal closest to his left leg?
WhyDoIHave ToUseMyRealName? Probably a sabian ice bell 9 inch
He's chill as fuck. Jayski ftw!
Hennepin crawler by primus

JAY is good, but Tim fit the best with best fills and technical playing, Brian Brain was all about hard hitting...but JAY is good. Seems like a cool dude too.

I think the lighting guy was falling asleep for a moment there.
Random Bass check hahaha got me off guard.
I hope Jayski is ok. He seems kinda funked out in this video.
Jayski is a monster. So precise but still so nasty

Czarcie kopyto :D
CZARCIE KOPYTO!! :D
Buddy Rich on the muppets.
Look at Mr. Lane right here, then look at Insane Clown Posse's "Shaggy 2 Dope" from the earlier years......see anything thats the same?? haha
Please do not spontaneously combust. And while you are at it make another new Primus album. Please. Green Naugahyde is sick!!!
